Chapter 104: Elders
A strange situation kicked off what was supposed to be a day of fighting for plausible freshmen recruits.
However, some of the most eligible students couldn’t care less about the sign-ups because they were trying to survive the gazes of everyone else.
Now, the actual subjects were so busy with being in their two-person world that it was up to the three additional wheels to school their facial expressions.
We should act like it was totally normal, right? Ollie was practically sending telepathic messages to Kyle with his hair antenna.
Right. Kyle just pursed his lips as he remembered how he started all of it.
While it was harder for these two to sit still, Jax didn’t find the whole ordeal difficult.
He had more important things to think about, like asking Luca if he could plant a few crops for himself. Even just one pot would do!
But he’d have to wait a bit, as the person in question was still a bit too busy.
Now, one would think that those two were making out with how long they’d been able to keep everyone’s attention, but really, the smooch was over just as soon as it started—much to the disappointment of a certain Princess who missed the perfect moment!
What was taking forever was how Luca’s been checking Xavier by inspecting everything he could inspect.
Then, these two suddenly looked like they were whispering sweet nothings when, in reality, Luca was trying to tell Xavier that there was a hole in his pant leg because it snagged against an icicle earlier.
But Luca was just embarrassed to ask the others where he could have his uniform repaired, so he figured he could ask Xavier, who seemed very knowledgeable.
If the guiding wasn’t enough to stop him from unleashing more of his abilities, then Luca’s bashful whisper certainly did the trick.
The little chipmunk now had a hole in his pant leg and wanted to know where he could get them fixed.
This was undoubtedly to save enough money. When he saw that hole, he probably felt like the world had broken a little, which meant it was an additional expense.
Xavier was spot on.
Luca’s shoulders actually drooped from this, and his eyes dimmed a bit. The onlookers didn’t miss this and, in their minds, started a saga of how these lovers must have been having a misunderstanding.
It was riveting.
The school barely had any semblance of romance, with everyone barely surviving the next day, and yet these two were even capable of having a lover’s spat?!
Of course, they were curious and wanted to know about it! And that’s how the students missed the arrival of the confused seniors.
Ian, who watched everything unfold, was stunned to discover that most of the students they were eyeing were nearly concentrated at the same table.
There were several outstanding freshmen this year, but many of them had clear affiliations with the other Guilds. Because these students would undoubtedly join the Guilds originally established by their own Houses.
The Silver Serpents, run by the House of Zorath, needed these unaffiliated youngbloods to guarantee a place at the Astral Cup. This was why Ian had to go when he’d never usually be caught dead doing leg work.
But was it really a good idea to invite such students?
Meanwhile, a few students finally noticed the arrival of these seniors, and the murmurs they had been waiting for finally started.
The seniors were gratified that they still managed to elicit a reaction, albeit delayed. With this, they could finally post their respective guilds’ sign-up sheets on the digital boards.
“Oh, I guess it’s finally time,” Ollie said as he finally felt way better after the sticky eyes stopped looking in their direction.
Luca, who was still a bit gloomy, still managed to ask about these visitors. He had never seen these people, and if not for their familiar uniforms, he wouldn’t have been able to tell that they were probably still students like him.
“Time for what?” Luca asked Ollie, who looked back to where he was staring.

“Remember how you asked me about the Academy Mercenary Guilds? Those elders are from there!” Ollie said absentmindedly when a fork nearly flew in his direction.
*Whoosh!*
Thankfully, Kyle noticed the incoming projectile and pushed the mop’s head down, effectively avoiding the flying fork.
“What the—” Ollie was going to react when he realized that someone was staring straight at him.
“!”
“Who are the elders, huh?!” It was a stocky senior that was built like a tank, a really shiny one.
Ollie had to look from the bottom all the way to the elder’s bald head because he had been pushed down just moments ago.
The bald senior had been known to be sensitive to anybody who mentioned age indicators. He had long fought and lost against wrinkles and his now non-existent hairline.
“I’m sorry, uncle!” For the most part, Ollie actually thought they were graduate students or teacher’s assistants. He really wasn’t trying to trigger someone’s hypertension!
“You—! You dare open your mouth! Just try signing up for any of the Guilds, and I’ll let you meet your maker!” The elder, who was apparently not an uncle, made a gesture of slitting his throat, and Ollie felt great that he didn’t have such aspirations in the first place!
“I won’t! No worries! I’m sorry, senior!” He tried apologizing, just so he doesn’t need to sleep with one eye open!
“Tsk! Idiots!” Said the shiny tank as he attempted to continue with his task.
Ollie just breathed a sigh of relief but probably did it way too early because he missed the flash of worry and indignation on Luca’s face.
The Little Guide could not understand why Ollie was being threatened like that when he was just being respectful.
So, just before the guy could fully turn his back on them, Luca suddenly said, “Mister, threatening people isn’t nice.”
The senior was stunned to hear another disrespectful idiot.
It seems like these freshmen think so highly of themselves now, huh?
Baldy was just about to use his spiritual abilities to teach these twerps a lesson when he looked over to see the guy behind the short student.
He was surprised to see and feel such bloodlust just from that stare alone and couldn’t even use the spiritual ability that he was so proud of.
Luca, on the other hand, couldn’t see the monster behind him and just thought that the uncle understood his point. So, the little chipmunk felt more confident and continued on with his spiel.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to let my brother sign up for your Guild. It won’t be necessary.”
Ollie was very touched when Luca stood up for him. No one had ever done that, and even his blood brothers would usually get him into trouble instead of helping him out like this.
His sworn brother was really the best!
“Yeah—!” Ollie was going to affirm Luca’s words, but then he heard it.
“My brother and I wouldn’t want to join yours anyway.” It was a short pause, but Ollie felt his world crashing at that very second when he saw Luca’s eyes.
“As we are planning to make our own,” Luca continued as he fired off a challenge to the seniors before him.
“???”
“!!!”
“Say what?!” Ollie’s shrill voice broke the silence in the cafeteria, and Ian realized why Ivan decided to send him there.
