Chapter 105: Concerned Seniors
Not that starting a new Guild was unheard of. But no one in their right mind would do it unless they had enough resources.
Academy Guilds were practically self-funded and were only given their own territory once they accomplished feats enough to gain territory points.
So, until such time, they could only rent offices allocated by the military.
It sounds thankless, and it usually was. However, the guilds have long existed because they also acted as a recruitment ladder for the empire’s elite families.
While they would all be military members, their guild allegiances usually dictated which group they would join if they managed to graduate.
And this scrawny boy just announced to everyone that they would be starting a new guild?
“HAAAA!” Sneered Baldy, who took one look at Luca and thought he must be deluded.
“Kid, you are lightyears away from being able to start a guild with your little buddies over there.” Mocked the shiny head.
It was just that when he looked at the supposed little buddies, only one looked actually little.
Save for the two scrawny ones in their group. The three other students looked like they could bench-press him twice over.
They had fit, lean physiques that clearly screamed combat-trained. Baldy could not acknowledge them because pretty boys who could fight didn’t exist.
That would be too unfair.
One must pick, and so these three must all just be vain. Well, maybe not that white-haired one that could send over such killing intent.
Ian looked at the guy who seemed to be from the Iron Panthers Guild. With that attitude toward these kids, it was evident that the bald head had not done proper research.
Because if he had, he would know who he was talking to. Ian was initially surprised, and even now, he doesn’t know how he’ll report this to Ivan. But at the same time, he knew how difficult it was to start a guild.
This could actually work in their favor. Once they failed to start one, they could offer to take them in. So, maybe approaching them right now would just tick them off.
Ian watched as a fellow senior dug his own grave. And he was partially glad since this just meant less competition.
“You plan to start one? With what, your boy toy over there?” Baldy’s face contorted to mock Luca, who was clearly eating more than he could chew. Such a person should be taught a lesson. And he felt like a good senior who was doing society a favor.
It’s just that no one else jeered like he was expecting. In fact, more people looked at him pitifully.
“What? Why’s everyone being like this?” He finally wondered as he noticed the odd expressions on everyone’s face.
He might not know, but most clearly did. Especially those who were eliminated by Luca. Even now, they still shivered unconsciously whenever those golden eyes shined in their direction.
“I’m not a child. Why would I have one?” Luca heard Baldy’s words but wasn’t sure why he was talking about toys at a time like this.
“And it’s okay if we’re little. My brother is still young and can still grow taller! Maybe he’ll be taller than you someday, Mister.” Luca had a serious look on his face as he unconsciously insulted both the Bald mister and his apparently little brother.
In his mind, he figured that maybe he should do something about their diet or finally get one of those pills.
Meanwhile, Ollie, who was taking the brunt of both insults and supposed saves, didn’t know what expression to sport. Honestly, his face was kind of broken.
He felt very touched, and yet if his brother opened his mouth more, he might actually lose what remained of his already decreasing lifespan. His spleen was probably not going to hold for any longer.
But among them was Xavier, who had already calmed down but was once again ready to roar at another idiot.
However, he heard Luca’s response and figured that his way was probably the highway. It was clearly more effective in damaging the opponent, if not for the critical hit landing on the mop as a form of friendly fire.
While everyone else felt that something was slightly wrong with Luca’s statement, Baldy felt that the scrawny one was mocking him.

“Why, you little—!” He was planning on firing off better insults but was pulled by a guildmate to alert him about the arrival of certain instructors.
“Fine, let’s see if you have the ability! You better prepare yourself for when this Guild of yours never gets to see the light of day!” Shouted Baldy as he changed his tune to avoid implicating their guild.
“Let’s see if you’d even have the credentials for it, or maybe you can beg one of the rankers to open a Guild for you!”
Sadly, Luca was a bit shorter than most people, and the table covered his badge.
“Rank?” Luca muttered as he thought about Xavier talking about the division rankings and figured he might be talking about that.
But then his thoughts were interrupted by the taunting laugh of this rather mean senior.
“??”
“You’re thinking of making your own Guild when you don’t even know about ranks? Do you even have any idea what it takes to rank?” Baldy’s eyes were wide; he was full-blown sneering now, but since he wasn’t attacking, there really wasn’t much that others could do about him.
“You have to be one of the best out of everyone in your batch and must consistently outperform everyone! Not to mention taking the existing spots of those who made it past the qualification exams!” He listed down all the hurdles that anyone would face attempting to rank in an attempt to show the shrimp just how ignorant he was.
How they all were.
Tsk.
Freshmen and their damn lush hairs.
Baldy had always been annoyed by these fresh-faced young adults who only knew how to enjoy life. He vowed to show them what it actually took to graduate from the Royal Military Academy!
But to his surprise, instead of hesitation and embarrassment, the shrimp he was lecturing had sparkling eyes and even stood up to bow.
“I see! I never knew, Senior! I thought that our test was just too easy with how many people got the badges.” He offered a sincere bow that was like a punch in the gut.
“Thank you for informing me about the use of this thing.” It was another bow, and Luca practically sucker-punched the seniors when he straightened his back, his golden badge in full display.
Of course, the Baldy and several other seniors from smaller guilds did not expect this particular turn of events!
“You! You’ve gone ahead to fake that badge, huh? You think just anyone can have one?!” He exclaimed as someone who knew better than anyone as he didn’t even get to qualify for the top even after all the effort he’s placed.
And now you’re telling him that this flower vase had one?! What a joke?!
But the shorty responded, “I understand, Mister! I will work hard. After all, it sure was hard, and even with my efforts, I could only get fourth place.” Luca felt like he really should do better and study more.
After all, the tuition was very expensive.
It was as if several missiles were flying from the boy’s body as everyone got hit by his innocent revelation.
