Chapter 110: Desires
It was definitely easier said than done.
Ollie’s body was ready, but his mind kept saying no.
The little mop actually wondered if he was just too dumb to be a mechanic.
But that was corrected the moment he joined his brother in the space’s training hall.
It was a bid to see if he needed to change divisions, but after one round, he realized he was okay with feeling dumb.
At least he’d stay alive.
All it took was one kick. Ollie flew across space and saw the light, cementing his desperation to continue as a mechanic.
When Luca told them about the Training Hall, Xavier was the one most invested. If he could live there, he probably would.
Ollie watched in amusement as his good brother followed Xavier around like a puppy who was desperate for new fighting techniques.
At first, he was just amazed at his brother’s thirst for learning, but when Luca copied Xavier as if he were born with it, he realized something was seriously up.
He had to be really dumb, right?! Or was everyone else just that good? Ollie thought to himself.
Technically, Luca was just doing better as he received Fighting Manuals after completing the first leg of the Grandmaster’s training program.
But the manuals didn’t magically make him a fighter; they just allowed his mind to learn that such moves existed.
The problem was how and when to best use them.
Then he saw Xavier, who actually fought against the Grandmaster!
“!!!”
It wasn’t the first time he had seen him fight, but only now had he seen him use a series of moves.
During the exam, Xavier practically incapacitated everyone with three hits or less.
Now, he looked like he was dancing with the Grandmaster, and Luca wanted to be like that!
“Host, it seems like he has an ideal body for fighting! Maybe you should emulate it!” D-29 re-affirmed Luca’s thoughts, and the small animal could only sigh when he compared his body with Xavier’s.
He could still remember the placement of Xavier’s muscles as well as how lean the guy was, and Luca realized he’d need an overhaul to be like the mountain giant.
Luca was now able to get in a few hits, but honestly, he never thought that one could actually fight the Grandmaster like this!
Even Kyle and Jax managed a few seconds of combat, particularly Jax, who weaved through the attacks instinctively.
Kyle explained that Jax was really like that. His ability to perceive attacks was basically animalistic. They once thought he relied too much on his instincts, so his brain would lag when it actually had to think.
But that was okay because Jax had the luck of someone who could bankrupt casinos. And everyone had long accepted this trade-off.
Xavier’s training session with the Grandmaster ended with him standing and walking out, and Luca was so amazed that he practically clapped!
Even the way he walked carried a sense of power, and Luca’s back straightened as he scrutinized the man walking towards them.
“What?” Xavier asked, wondering why the little chipmunk was staring at him like that.
It was a very intense stare.

Luca’s gaze roamed around Xavier’s body as he tried to see where he could improve his physique.
But to everyone else, he just looked like he wanted to jump Xavier right then and there.
Even Xavier himself had to take a step back in surprise, eventually hitting the training boundary line and eliciting an attack from the Grandmaster. And he would’ve been bonked in the head had he been a second later in dodging.
All Luca saw was the way Xavier leaned back to avoid the windblade and not how the strong-man panicked at seeing his face.
“I really want that…” Luca sighed, and everyone, especially Xavier, wondered what ‘that’ was.
It was just that they couldn’t shake the feeling of wanting to look away because of how Luca stared at their Captain.
But Luca was really just admiring his muscles, noticing how he was able to lean back like that because of his great core muscles!
Luca wanted that, too!
“What—what did you want?” Xavier should’ve followed his gut feeling and let the little chipmunk be because he nearly toppled over when Luca pointed toward his lower body.
But Luca was really just pointing at Xavier’s abdominal muscles and noting that he may have leg issues. He looked like he was going to lose his balance again.
“Are you okay? Would you be able to endure for long? Your legs seem a bit unstable?” Luca asked worriedly, and Xavier had to pray.
He had heard about this little chipmunk being a philanderer and now wondered if it was because of the words that would come out of his mouth.
It was admittedly a jab to his kidney, and Kyle, in particular, paled as he noted how the power structure between the Empire’s next generation was forming before his eyes.
Xavier never thought he’d be doing this in broad daylight. In fact, he never thought he’d have to ask someone to detail what they wanted with him.
“Luca, what exactly did you want so badly for you to be sighing like that.” Xavier had to cover part of his face with his hand because he needed to catch a break from all of this.
And with all the etiquette lessons he’s had to take from those rigid tutors, he wondered how many of them would rise from the dead if they could hear him now.
“Muscles,” Luca pointed it out again, this time a little bit gloomily, as he figured it would be hard to get such a physique unless he used the pill. But what if he ended up bulking up too much?
Xavier thought as much and breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, he wondered why his endurance had to take a jab because of his muscles.
“Do you want training?” Xavier offered, hoping to forget about the earlier ordeal by acting like a normal human being.
“Can you train me? So I could have that too?” Asked the chipmunk excitedly.
Xavier nodded, just hoping to survive this first before thinking about a training plan. “Sure. We just need to train here so we’ll have enough time.”
Luca was very glad he had voiced his desire and felt that it was very easy to talk to Xavier. He was such an approachable guy who always seemed to understand him, and Luca felt like he needed to repay him for such a gesture.
“Thank you so much! I promise to serve you well tonight in exchange for this!” He needed to think of something to cook for tonight’s dinner and rushed out excitedly before Xavier could even recover.
Luca was going to be the death of him, Xavier mused as he looked at the retreating figure of the chipmunk who kept on edging him like this.
There was actually a long pause as everyone who was left there didn’t know when it would be appropriate to speak.
Jax watched Xavier’s face and figured he needed to survive longer for his newly potted plants, so he vowed not to open his mouth today.
But Kyle was Xavier’s adjutant and was duty-bound to ask about his welfare. Jax thanked the cosmos for the boon of just being a soldier every day.
“Captain, are you alright?” Kyle had to risk his neck, or they would be standing here for who knows how long.
But maybe he shouldn’t have because now he had to do three times more training for opening his mouth!
Gaaah!
