Chapter 116: Personal Stash
Luca surmised that even planets could be moved by what he had just seen.
And it took him a while to recover from the shock. By the time he did, they were actually on their way close to the military headquarters.
“Xavier, what was that?” The little money grubber gulped before asking.
Luca’s original guess was that Xavier probably robbed several banks. After seeing such a staggering display of wealth, even D-29 had to look up news articles about the biggest heists.
Technically, no money was transferred into Luca’s personal stash. What actually happened was that his terminal was given permission to access someone else’s account.
But the Dungeon owner and his system couldn’t fathom how anyone could walk around with a terminal that had that much money without feeling like they would be robbed any second now.
Because Luca now felt that way.
And it wasn’t even his money!
Even when they were going towards the military base, which should’ve been the safest place (if not for the impending catastrophe), he felt like he was going to be ganked randomly.
“Why did you show this to me?” When D-29 mentioned the probability that Xavier might just be showing him his capacity to pay, Luca suddenly felt embarrassed because he had assumed he was being given money.
Xavier noticed a sudden change in Luca’s aura and figured the chipmunk was running through several narratives again in his brain.
“It’s for you to use as you please. I can’t transfer the contents because it would take time, but I could give you access as a co-owner.”
“?!”
“Xavier, you can be honest. Are you in trouble?” Luca looked very serious. Because who wouldn’t, especially in the face of a possible large-scale crime lord?!
“Did you rob a bank and need help hiding the money?” They could hide it in the space, and worse come to worst, they could all hide in there until the authorities decide to leave them alone.
“No. But I do own several banks if that’s a concern.” Xavier slightly smirked, amused that Luca had such a guess, but still remained as calm as possible.
In reality, only Sid was panicking. He was surprised to learn that they only came to ‘steal’ the corruption and not the actual goods and figured that he was wrong in forming such misconceptions. But what was this development about his original master robbing banks?!
Not to mention sharing the spoils and implicating the new master in what seemed to be a crime worthy of Imperial intervention!
“These are my private funds. And provided you don’t use it for anything illegal, then you’re free to spend as you wish.”
It was straightforward: Xavier would only be flagged for purchases that supported terrorism, slavery, or space pirates.
Other than that, he was okay with losing his personal wealth and would just work harder to amass more.
Luca heard the instructions but still had no idea why Xavier did something like that.
“While we want to keep your involvement a secret for as long as you want, you cannot keep on working for free.”
“And this is my private account as continued compensation for your efforts. I will work to keep it funded so you can rest assured when you spend.”
It was the least he could do without alerting others to Luca’s existence. The chipmunk loved the financial security that money provided, and it was something that he could give.
He sure was going to be the first Imperial Prince who didn’t keep a separate account from their partner, but he was also the first one to face such a predicament.
Luca remained silent, unable to say anything, as he wasn’t sure how to react to Xavier’s words.
His efforts were recognized, and he even got paid for it!
That kept running across his mind even as he selected the Guiding pills he figured would be needed to stabilize the Marshal.

Luca sent over pills of three different grades to avoid shocking the meridians. He also prepared fruits and jugs of spiritual water to be hidden in Xavier’s space button to prevent suspicion.
If he had a choice, he would’ve just packed more as backup, but Xavier stopped him from just hauling his entire stash.
And they were right to do that.
Because only a crazy person wouldn’t be curious about the things that would ultimately save the Marshal from the brink of death. And the more they used, the more things they had to explain.
The headquarters was as gloomy as expected as the people braced for the worst possible scenario.
Seeing this reminded Luca of what it was like for the people encountering rampaging Espers. In this case, however, these people didn’t even have any hope for a cure.
They tried.
They really did, but it never amounted to anything more than a slew of failed research projects.
The other soldiers who were worried for their next leader actually tried stopping Xavier, who was eventually allowed in when he demanded to see the Marshal as a family member.
Everyone knew what it meant to be at this stage and couldn’t find it in their hearts to stop him when they would’ve probably done the same thing in his shoes.
But Xavier had no intentions of giving up. Not when Luca offered a possible solution.
It was do or die, which was why he made sure to tell Luca to stay in his space.
Not only would he be barred from entering a dangerous zone, but his presence would likely associate him with what was about to come.
And, boy, was Xavier glad there was no one with them. And with the privacy of a Royal, his stay with the Marshal was not to be recorded by surveillance.
It was not a pretty site. Not only did the Marshal look worse for wear, but it was a sight that would likely leave nightmares for most children.
However, nothing could prepare him for what happened when he tried doing what Luca instructed.
Xavier thought he had killed the Marshal even before his core could implode. But then remembered how something similar happened when he used a similar pill.
He hoped his uncle had the same tenacity or some stronger guardian angels because he was sure this would hurt.
“Uncle, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Please survive, or I will have a lot of explaining to do when mother finds out.” Xavier murmured as he tried on the pills from the lowest grade.
Xavier had no idea what signs he was supposed to look for until he realized that the black vessels that were obvious from the skin were lightening.
Visually, the corruption in the Marshal’s pathways receded into one area for containment.
It was a positive sign in his books, and it encouraged him to continue while praying for everything to work out.
Meanwhile, Luca actually contemplated buying a revival pill as he got more anxious by the minute.
It was nerve-wracking. And it felt like he was diffusing a bomb from far away, although he’s never even tried that before.
But explosions should be the least of his problems. Especially after failing to realize that the Marshal was in and out of consciousness as he was being experimented on (saved) by these two hustlers.
