Chapter 137: Awake
It wasn’t that Sid didn’t want to answer; it was just really challenging to do so without being fully called out.
“Master, please—please pull me out!” Sid begged, hoping to at least get a moment of respite.
But this rest was a dream, as his Master decided it would be a good day to ask questions.
However, when he saw why, he figured he had to be honest as the other master was in trouble.
“You called, Master?” Sid could only maintain his stance before Xavier entered the mecha.
“Sid. I need you to tell me who it is that you keep on talking to?”
The guardian mecha wasn’t sure what the Master meant and had to verify.
“Have you forgotten that you also reside in my sea of consciousness? Did you seriously think I wouldn’t know?” Asked Xavier, who almost wanted to recite the conversations.
While Sid kept his panic to himself, that didn’t stop the mecha from regularly feeding information to this ‘something’ called D-29.
Xavier wasn’t sure who or what it was, but he remembered a conversation he thought Sid was having because he kept on responding in fear.
The Prince was actually unable to hear this mysterious entity, but Sid wasn’t that crazy enough to talk to himself, even after hundreds of years as the Imperial Family’s guardian mecha.
So, unless his mecha had finally started going crazy talking about added appendages, weird limbs, and oddly colored heads, then he must be speaking to someone.
He initially assumed it was Luca.
That was now possible, given the nature of their bond, but Xavier realized that the mecha was going at it even when the chipmunk was asleep.
Then Xavier heard something about buying blueprints and more training modules to practice on.
The words flew over Xavier’s head until Luca started showing them the new additions to the space.
It was only then that it clicked.
If one could obtain finished products such as buildings, blueprints, and even training modules, then there had to be a source.
And Xavier needed this source.
Because the little chipmunk needed something called a revive pill.
“Who was this D-29? And can they get us something for Luca?”
The guardian mecha obviously panicked when the Master mentioned the figureless instigator, who threatened him with a short tail if he ever said anything about it.
But was he supposed to ignore the Master, who was in critical condition?
Sid was actually about to think about its absurdity and reminisce about the Master’s sacrifice to get the Nanite Ore when that oppressor blared at him to immediately order his master to help the Host.
There was really no time to consider the consequences.
Such things only mattered to those who could stay alive!
Right now, they weren’t really looking so great!
And while D-29 missed its seniors, the lucky survivor had no desire to see them this soon!
So, the little system initiated emergency protocols, forcing the guardian mecha to act as a communication bridge.

But Sid had rusty social skills (excuse you?) and was worse than the robot animals that D-29 has seen in those interstellar dramas.
Therefore, the moonlighting criminal thought of ‘visiting’ the console.
A hijacking.
Sid was being hijacked again.
Only this time, it was by a system that had a sense of urgency.
Xavier was surprised to see his mecha moving without an actual command and just an infusion of his spiritual energy. Sid walked towards the platform they normally went to for training, but this time, he proceeded to get to what looked like a dead end.
“?”
D-29 couldn’t show the same hologram to this helper without the Host’s explicit permission, so the well-meaning hijacker could only force the mountain giant onto the ground floor to see the actual amenities.
The little system could purchase the revive pill but couldn’t get it out of the inventory. So, it needed Sid and the benefactor to grab it with their hands.
When Xavier realized what was happening, he elected to go down from the mecha to pick up what Sid’s finger had been pointing to.
It was a small round ball that actually resembled a candy, if anything.
And this was supposed to save Luca’s life.
Xavier didn’t waste time and figured this was like those pills Luca used on his uncle.
What Xavier didn’t expect was the convulsions and extreme heat that would come after Luca took the pill!
Meanwhile, the Battleship was filled with a different kind of chaos because the Duke finally woke up.
Only to realize that his precious son wasn’t anywhere to be found.
And no one could tell him exactly where they went.
This was really the moment Ollie realized there was a good chance they wouldn’t make it out of here if his brother didn’t return alive and well anytime soon.
The Duke was understandably livid.
Who wouldn’t be when you’ve just reunited with your son, only to find out that he’s missing?
What’s worse was how these people seemed to know something but couldn’t or wouldn’t explain it!
Technically, Ollie had only heard of the Duke’s prowess, so he didn’t really have an idea, but Kyle and Jax both understood that angering the Duke, regardless of his physical constitution, wouldn’t be beneficial.
He didn’t rise as the God of War for nothing.
But Kyle really felt that the heavens were out for their blood.
He wasn’t a member of the ministry but had to deal with these many dignitaries, and for some reason, he was always at a knife’s point.
Just how was it possible to be this unlucky?!
*BOOM!*
Fucking a—I swear! Kyle screamed internally as he waited for their Captain to answer his messages.
They could only buy off a few minutes, but any more, and they would have to be forced to bring the Duke over or risk the school’s destruction.
And how excruciatingly painful were those few minutes!
It was so intense that when Kyle’s terminal beeped, he already had Ollie flung on his shoulders and ready to flee.
The Duke was releasing energy blades unconsciously and the mop wouldn’t be able to block it with anything but smiles.
[Xavier: Tell the Duke he can come. Luca’s awake.]
And that message couldn’t have come at a much better time for the people in the battleship.
It was just that it may have been a totally different thing for the two people in the space.
