Chapter 167: Interior Decoration
But before the whispers were the exclamations.
Ollie couldn’t believe what happened while they were all sleeping.
Well, the three of them because, by the looks of it, his brother and the mover stayed up all night trying to fix this up, whatever this was.
Of course, they were excited and definitely surprised to learn that their guild base had been renovated.
Who wouldn’t be when it’s only been how many hours since they got back? Not to mention the implementation of the curfew!
Kyle actually thought that Xavier must’ve hired someone while they were away. But when they got to their lot, they were surprised to see that it was exactly the same.
It was the same rickety old shack.
And they really wanted to ask, but when they turned around, Luca looked like a proud animal, one with his hands on his waist and an imaginary rounded stomach jutting out.
Luca looked too proud to be called out, and Xavier, the demonic overlord, stood behind the new boss-man like a waiting guardian.
So Kyle just held it all in, that was until they entered.
As the group stepped through the unassuming, weather-beaten toolshed door—half expecting to trip over a rusty rake or some dislodged flooring—the three first-timers froze in collective astonishment.
Their rickety shack had been hiding a secret that no amount of creaky hinges or peeling paint could have hinted at.
Instead of the dim, cobwebbed gloom they anticipated, they were greeted by a gilded double door. The golden carvings hinted at something far removed from their originally dubious shack.
The three stood in stunned silence, their eyes wide with disbelief as they stepped into what looked like another world.
The air was crisp and cool, carrying with it the faint scent of blooming flowers and fresh water.
And Jax reveled in this.
He wasn’t even sure what these flowers were, but he definitely wanted to adopt them!
On the other hand, Ollie concentrated on the floating gazebo, which was nestled under the protective arch of what looked like a natural cove.
And did he mention how it hovered over a pond?
Because it did.
And there were even flowers floating around, looking all alive and well, something that was now impossible to see unless in a man-made pool and with artificial flowers.
The space wasn’t huge.
In fact, other than the main gazebo, the expansive garden, and the shaded area by the back, this was pretty much everything.
While the new office wasn’t rife with spiritual energy like Luca’s Dungeon, it definitely didn’t feel lacking.
How could it be when Luca unknowingly used more Energy Crystals than required to power up the pocket dimension?
“Is this part of the space? And are we seriously bringing people over here?” Kyle had to ask as his eyes bugged out at the thought of allowing random clients into Luca’s space.
“No, this is apparently a pocket dimension. It’s detached from Luca’s space but functions like one.”
“But the water’s just regular water and the plants aren’t as questionable.”
“Yet,” Xavier added, realizing this possibility the moment they returned.
“Huh? Yet?” Asked Ollie, who got curious about the conversation.

“Yeah. The door wouldn’t even open until we fed it some Energy Crystals, but when it did, we ended up here.” Explained Luca, who was surprised the moment the doors opened.
His Dungeon looked unkept compared to this manicured space, and when they got in, there was no furniture and barely any residual energy.
However, it was clear that the energy in the pocket dimension had increased and may continue to increase in the future.
Thankfully, D-29 said that according to the tooltip, such spaces would need the corresponding Energy Crystals to operate and would likely eat more energy over time.
They assumed that even if the dimension had energy, it would likely diminish once it started stabilizing.
But even then, it was enough to feel better in mind and body.
However, this was because they weren’t aware of the husband’s massive struggles before the space looked this harmonious.
Xavier didn’t think it would be that bad, and for a moment, Sid wanted to console the master, who had to face one determined penny pincher.
When they were looking at furniture to buy, Xavier was surprised that Luca only looked at the price and was definitely searching for the discounts.
And those items, while useable, were definitely going to ruin the aesthetic of the place.
But what was a guy who was mainly stuck in places that didn’t get to see much, know about aesthetics?
What was beauty, looks, and elegance to someone who only saw those in the rare instances he saw advertisements?
So, the Prince, who was raised looking at such things, felt like he had to step in, or one little chipmunk would be disappointed by the reactions of their friends and clients who would see the mismatched stools.
Eventually, and after several hours of trying to convince the golden dragon, they were able to order pieces that weren’t so expensive but at least matched the vibe of the place.
Not to mention a bit of tableware for serving their clients some drinks and snacks that Luca insisted on having.
And these were the perks enjoyed by the first uncanny visitors.
When they initially saw the supposed base of the Dungeon Guardians, Theo contemplated turning back.
And even Noah would understand if Theo decided to cancel. But the referrer just kept feeling like he made the right decision by telling Theo about this guild.
It felt really suspicious and depressing until they were greeted by a towering freshman who had a practiced smile.
It was Kyle who just offered to do it because it might be too dangerous to have their bubbliest members do it.
Who knows if they’d be sold off, scammed, or worse, agree to unpaid labor?
And the only other option they had would likely lose the customers, with the lack of words to spare.
He was likely the best choice, and Luca could only wait with Ollie as their sacrificial lamb does the Lord’s work.
