Chapter 187: Morning After
There are different types of mornings.
Some were peaceful, while some were hectic.
But then, every now and then, you get those mornings where you wish you could pretend you never woke up.
Maybe if you continued to shut your eyes, you could pretend that nothing had happened.
Just like today.
It was a very hot day, even with the temperature controls, but one Imperial Crown Prince was wearing a questionable turtleneck as he completed today’s training requirements.
And frankly, that wouldn’t have bothered an observant adjutant if only his boss wasn’t being followed around by a shorter, albeit glowing tail.
Their guild leader.
A very enthusiastic one.
For one little chipmunk, this was a rather short story.
But for one battered wolf, it was a sleepless tale.
Xavier woke up to a sudden itchy feeling.
At first, he thought it was because he wasn’t used to having someone flushed against him.
But then it happened—a sudden bite.
Which was really more like a nibble.
And Xavier, who thought he was just hallucinating, ignored it as he imagined it to be some sort of accident.
But then it happened again.
“…”
And again.
“!”
It took everything in Xavier to stay sane as he got nibbled on like some snack.
But with this happening, it was impossible for the Prince to return to sleep—not when he was uncertain if Luca was really just a little chipmunk or an actual vampire.
It’s just that Xavier’s wide-eyed guesses shifted the moment he noticed subtle changes in his body.
Luca practically traveled from the giant snack’s index finger to the shoulders and up to his neck.
Wherever the little nibbler went, Xavier would feel a change in his energy circulation.
Those little kinks were disappearing, and the stiffness in those areas would be released.
And Xavier could only recall his most recent memory to draw a conclusion.
Luca must be guiding.
And frankly, he would be lucky to receive such a favor.
It was just that the Prince was human, and all this wriggling, licking, and nibbling was bound to get to him.

So much for getting rid of the stiffness when he’s going to end up with something worse at this rate?!
He was being driven to insanity, and the culprit wasn’t even in the know!
Because by the time the night passed, Xavier’s shoulders and neck had been besieged by small nibbling bites.
Even his ear couldn’t escape!
And hell, if he would bring himself to the infirmary with this!
So, the Prince hoped to rely on ointments but belatedly realized that most treatments were highly focused on wounds and actual injuries.
But the Prince had none.
All he had were impressions on his skin and a whole lot of psychological shadow, left by one little chipmunk who awakened in his best possible state in a long while.
How lucky! But at least someone was feeling better, right?!
Meanwhile, Luca really felt glorious.
And figured that the Crown Prince really knew his way around efficiency!
Who knew how much clarity sleep would be able to give him?
But it was the same clarity that would allow him to see his poor victim in a different light.
It wasn’t an instant realization.
Because it took a while to process Xavier’s very real and extremely solid presence before him!
Luca screamed.
Well, screamed into Xavier’s waiting hand, who managed to predict his possible reaction.
And thankfully, he had been silenced, or Luca would’ve feared being sent away for what he had done to the mountain giant!
Which brings them to the current situation.
It was ironic how everything had been reversed overnight. And now it was the small animal who kept trailing after him to check for signs of life.
Or probably death, with how Luca kept on asking if he was alright.
And spiritual energy-wise, he had never been better. It was just his sanity that had taken a giant hit.
But Luca couldn’t help it as he looked at the Prince’s sleep-deprived face.
“Xavier, I—I’m really sorry. I didn’t intend to keep you up like that.” Luca apologized while secretly vowing to feed him better food.
But the unfortunate wolf could only look at Kyle, who gave him a knowing glance after hearing such an apology from Luca.
“You better take your mind out of the gutter,” warned Xavier, who was just finishing with the last set of exercises.
“Captain, I have long realized how far the gutter is away from you. It’s not me you should be worried about,” said Kyle who looked back at the apologetic Luca.
Xavier wanted to kick Kyle but figured he’d make Luca panic even more.
“It’s okay. I was just surprised and decided to make good on the promise from yesterday.”
Now, this was how the Prince thought of surviving this without driving the little chipmunk nuts.
Because Xavier now knew where this panic was coming from. It was from that fear of being defective again.
And while he tried explaining the reason for his sleeplessness, he was aware that Luca might not fully understand it.
So, Xavier worked while contending with his little nibbler.
By morning, he had already requisitioned and compiled a list of possible places for the materials he saw on the blueprint.
It was the best distraction, one that would also benefit the already stressed-out guild leader.
And it really did. In fact, Luca was so touched that he had increased his apologies to Xavier for pushing him to the limit.
However, Xavier could only hope to make his wife stop because he could clearly see those hungry gazes.
And for some reason, he didn’t want to imagine just what kind of things were going through their imaginations.
Because that would be too unfair.
Fuck.
How come he was the only one to suffer such a fate?
And so, on that day alone, DG saw an unprecedented increase in efficiency as Xavier worked himself to the bone, trying to forget that night.
It was the second time, and the edged husband wasn’t so sure he’d survive a third.
“Are you sure you’re all right, Xavier?”
“You said we should take proper rest, but you… How come you’re doing all that work when you look like you need sleep?”
Because he likely wouldn’t be able to rest with how high-strung he was.
But he was surprised to be treated to the same actions last night.
Luca grabbed at Xavier’s face from behind the chair, which surprised the coordinate plotting Prince.
“Do you want to nap? There’s a short break, and maybe you could—” asked Luca, who had learned about the importance of rest.
Xavier could only sigh as he flinched at Luca’s touch.
It probably wasn’t a nap he needed.
Admission.
Maybe that’s what.
“What’s wrong?” Luca asked again, trying to see if something else had gone wrong for Xavier to be sighing like that.
But before the Prince could answer, Luca asked. “Xavier, what about a power hug?”
“A power hug?”
Luca nodded, “My father said that works best for fatigue.”
“Really? And you’re okay with giving me one?”
“Yeah, you’ve worked very hard. And I figured you should also get an extra slice of cake.” Luca whispered as he looked down on the sitting Xavier, whose face was tilted up to face him.
But Xavier didn’t respond until Luca moved, only to hear the prince say, “But what if I’m a bit greedy and want more?”
“Huh? More?”
“Yeah, just a bit more. Maybe a little smooch,” Xavier joked. Although, just who he was kidding, even he wasn’t so sure.
But Luca was Luca and didn’t hesitate to give as much as he’s given.
And Xavier was greeted with a smooch.
It was sudden.
Barely there.
Soft lips pressed against his forehead, and it was over just as fast as it started.
But the Prince wasn’t prepared for how his entire world tilted.
Xavier could only laugh at his misery.
It should’ve ended there, as the little chipmunk had already pulled away.
But it was too late.
He already felt ready to get his wife as much CP.
Who needs sleep?
Sigh.
