Chapter 191: Getting a Call
The world was still.
Or at least, his world was.
The little money-grubber didn’t think that things could be worse.
After everything, they only had 207,100 CP. And this prompt was talking about something that costs so much!
200,000 CP.
His hands shook as his soul hurt.
“Luca, what’s wrong?” Xavier approached, and only then did the little chipmunk creak his head to face him.
And he looked pitiful.
Luca’s eyes actually trembled as he tried to explain what was wrong with his life.
“I—I think we’re broke.” The little money-grubber managed to say it.
“Broke?” Asked Xavier, whose tone could’ve made Kyle gasp in horror.
Luca nodded slowly, still in disbelief that it could be this bad.
“It’s asking for the last 200,000 CP that we have for a Dungeon-Linked Space. But I’m not even sure what that means.”
True.
Unlike the other upgrades, this wasn’t as obvious, aside from clearly being a space linked to the Dungeon.
“Host! About this, I have summarized what I could gather from the manual.”
[DUNGEON-LINKED SPACE:]
[Creates a stable, anchored sub-space outside the Dungeon]
[Extendes as a designated spatial note to act as a dimensional access point]
[Limited Environmental Transfer: replicates Dungeon conditions at a lower efficiency]
[Gate Control: The entry point to the Dungeon-Linked Space must be manually placed and can be relocated (with CP cost)]
Everyone stared at the growing prompt that was shared with them.
“Wait a minute, brother.”
“So, like another Dungeon Space?” Ollie asked, trying to make sense of what he was reading.
But just as he said that, a giant red ‘X’ mark appeared on his screen.
“Okay… I guess that’s a no?”
D-29 obviously wouldn’t accept the notion that it would only cost 200,000 CP to make another Dungeon Space and wanted its opinions to be known.
“It’s probably like an outdoor shed. Like it’s part of the house and can be seen by everyone, but the entrance is different.”
“It says you have to place it manually? That means you must find a spot for it, like the pocket dimension, right?” Verified Kyle.
“But where could we even place it? Our Guild Office barely fit in the small shack.” Luca remembered how they could only basically fit that pocket dimension door.

Xavier actually had a few planets they could use to test this, but he thought that Luca would benefit more if it could help extend his current reach outside of Planet Nova.
“Luca. What about the Duchy?”
Luca blinked up at Xavier’s suggestion and realized how that might really be a workable idea.
Provided he could get his father to agree.
But to everyone else that wasn’t even a question. For the Duke would likely agree even if his precious son said something about letting Tortie stay there in his full form.
And it was definitely as expected, just a little wilder.
Duke Leander was actually in the middle of a meeting to discuss their next objectives when his terminal prompted him with vigor.
It was the highest priority prompt, which could only mean one thing.
His precious boy, Luca!
“!!!”
And the Duke could only hold up his hand for every other person to shut up.
“Ehem! My son is calling.” Said the Duke, whose tail would’ve been raised so high if he actually had one!”
See? He gets calls from his son now, too! And he doesn’t have to just sit there as all these other geezers get one from their kids!
Hmph!
And then it opened. The Duke’s terminal actually got upgraded to the latest model because he wanted to make sure that he could see his son with a better resolution, and obviously, it was paying off!
His son was as adorable as ever!
Such a refreshing sight compared to looking at these familiar faces!
“?”
But why did it look like he cried?
Was his son being bullied?!
Wait. Was that even possible???
“Luca, my son, is everything alright?!” asked the suddenly worried father, who inadvertently alerted everyone in the room.
It had been a while, but even then, they all sat up in attention even when they couldn’t see or hear their Young Lord. Because what if he was in danger?!
“Ah yes, Papa. I’m doing fine. And we’ve also made some progress. It’s just that we didn’t particularly expect a few challenges.” Said his son, who continued to explain their most recent findings.
Until Luca showed the purified beasts they currently had in the two container cubes.
It was miraculous.
No, his son was miraculous.
Honestly, he had long wanted to brag about his son to the people of the Duchy but couldn’t because he himself felt powerless to defend his boy from all the threats.
He just needed to get stronger.
Maybe by then, he could walk proudly behind his shining son!
But he didn’t expect to have to fast-track everything!
“Papa, so…about this, we figured we needed a sanctuary for the beasts but couldn’t put them in here for fear of the second coming of the chicken bosses.” Luca hesitated but continued when the Duke nodded at him.
Duke Leander was actually about to agree to house his son’s new finds, and it was not below him to demolish even the mansion to do this.
But he didn’t expect him to say these life-changing words.
“And we managed to buy a Dungeon-linked Space that would give us connected access to an external location. It’s just that there’s an actual gate for it that must be manually placed. Would it be okay to put it in the Duchy?” Asked a hopeful-looking Luca, who just prayed that his father wouldn’t think he was overreaching.
But then the Duke kept silent, and Luca got a bit nervous.
So, he tried reciting their reasoning, “Xavier said that there would be sufficient protection if we put it in the Duchy, and in that case, there would be another way to travel back and forth…” Luca trailed until his father finally said something.
“S-son, does this mean you’ll have to go home to put up the door yourself?” Asked the Duke, who was barely holding on as his boots shook in all directions.
“Oh, it seems so, father, but if it’s too much of a—”
“Then we will definitely prepare for it, my boy! You can put it anywhere you want! Even inside this father’s room!”
Who even needed a room when his son was coming in to put what sounded like a portal to him?
And this Xavier? While he’s such a pitiful wolf, it seems like that boy thinks well.
HAHAHA!
“My son, is it tomorrow? Are you coming tomorrow?” Asked the Duke, whose eyes now shone differently.
“Not until the next weekend, Papa. Because I still have to see if I can pass the licensure exam for combination mecha piloting.” Luca was relieved that his father seemed okay with the idea and could only be so grateful for being accommodated.
“Bye, Papa. Please take care, and I’ll see you soon.” Said the adorable son to the father, who had already destroyed his armrest while trying to keep it together.
The call ended. And tension was palpable in the air until the Duke cleared his throat.
“My son…”
“My son is coming home in two weeks.”
And that was the Duke’s last words before fainting in excitement.
