Chapter 210: Grounding
Xavier had barely stepped into the hanger when he felt it.

That same alluring yet overwhelming density.

It was thick in the air—a very raw and unrestrained spiritual energy.

Familiar. Very intimately so.

And yet, instead of calming down, the Crown Prince couldn’t help but panic at this affinity, his chest tightening before his mind could even process why.

Then his frantic eyes found him.

And it was as if they were back in that cabin during that particular day.

The way Luca’s eyes glazed as he reveled in pure energy was something that Xavier wouldn’t be able to easily forget.

Not when the little chipmunk clung to him as if his life depended on it.

Seeking.

Instinctive.

And very greedy.

It was just that back then, he looked so satisfied that Xavier felt like he was better off as a power bank than a man.

But this expression—

Thoughts entered his mind, but nothing stuck when Luca turned toward him.

Those golden orbs were bright, much brighter than usual, and even from here, he could tell or probably hear Luca’s uneven breathing.

Then, very much unlike a small animal—he moved.

Faster than expected and with zero hesitation because he practically teleported, crashing right into Xavier’s arms.

Luca’s fingers curled into his coat as the little chipmunk pressed against him like there was a desperate need to crawl into his skin.

Xavier stiffened.

“Luca—”

But before he had time to really react, he felt the onset of sudden heat.

It was sudden.

And yet it felt like his body was expecting it, with only his mind lagging behind.

“!”

Then came a rush of raw spiritual energy that desperately poured into him without notice.

Xavier inhaled sharply.

His core jolted awake—an instinctual response, drawing it in before his body could even attempt to resist.

Except this time, they weren’t guessing, testing, or trying to see who could hold their breath longer.

This time, Luca’s body instinctively knew what it needed and sought it.

In Xavier.

His tendrils reacted instantly—surging toward the glacier’s energy like a magnet snapping into place.

Xavier clenched his jaw, arms moving on reflex to steady Luca.

Or maybe him.

Or likely both of them.

“Xavier…,” Luca called out in a whisper so soft and breathless that the normally virtuous prince’s mind would have to demolish the gutter so he wouldn’t go there.

A tiny shudder ran down Xavier’s spine.

The little chipmunk’s fingers tightened against his back.

His cheek pressed against Xavier’s shoulder, and he exhaled a slow, contented sigh—as if this was the most natural place in the world to be.

Which, apparently, it was.

Because Luca wasn’t letting go.

For how could he, when just doing this, decreased the feeling of stuffiness, like the sheer weight of the energy wasn’t as daunting anymore?

And worse—

The currently greedy husband didn’t want him to.

It felt too right.

And he felt a tad bit too guilty.

For Xavier, who had never craved skinship, never indulged in unnecessary touch, found himself greedy for just a little longer.

He tilted his head slightly, murmuring near Luca’s temple.

“…That was dangerous.”

But Luca just nuzzled closer.

Xavier’s grip tightened.

Damn it.

“…”

How was he supposed to say anything now?

His little chipmunk was high on energy again, and like last time, he was as soft as a marshmallow once more.

And that might be an accurate description as Luca felt just like that.

Or maybe like jelly.

His limbs felt wobbly, and he could barely really do anything but cling for dear life.

“Xavier,” murmured Luca, who felt like he had a lot of grievances today, or maybe for the past few days, and felt like the Prince would want to know about it.

“It’s different now. Si—since that day, it’s impossible to do it by myself.”

‘…’

“Somehow, it’s much better with you.”

“It’s not the same… And it’s very uncomfortable,” Luca whined as he realized how different and inefficient it was to process the energy by himself and how much better and lighter the energy was— provided if it came directly from Xavier.

The little chipmunk was practically whispering it to his ear, but even if he wrote it in blood, someone was bound to ‘hear’ it.

And Xavier felt like he needed to undergo some sort of baptism or maybe a confession.

Because he could swear, it was something else.

It had to be something else, right?!

Right.

Xavier shook his head. It was very rare for him to get a chance to advise the little chipmunk.

“Luca, remember what I told you? There are some things we should avoid mentioning outside?” The mountain giant said this gently, but it sounded like the first rejection to a certain someone.

And then said someone wilted as he mumbled, “Oh.”

“Sorry…” he trailed.

Dejected.

“I—I was being selfish. I didn’t think about how that might affect you.”

And it was true. Luca only belatedly remembered how his husband always looked so drained and distraught after.

He was inconsiderate and didn’t ask if the prince could even endure such a thing.

Xavier panicked.

And realized that it was happening again.

“No, no…Guiding is alright. We can do it as much as you want or need.”

“It’s just that we can’t be talking about it outside when people don’t know what it is. It’ll be dangerous.”

“Really…?” Luca looked up at Xavier, and obviously, even if he had to walk with a nebulizer, it was going to happen.

Sigh.

“But we’re not outside, aren’t we?” Blinked the little chipmunk.

Xavier could only ruffle Luca’s hair.

They really weren’t outside, and at least he had managed to only sink himself and his dignity a few steps lower.

He just wasn’t sure how the two lightbulbs were faring.

And frankly, he didn’t have the energy to think about that, for by the looks of it, his wife was just starting.

At the side—

Ollie was staring.

Wide-eyed.

Completely frozen.

And Kyle, who caught up with Xavier, could only grimace at the scene before him.

Was there a clause for death from being forcefully fed dog food?

What about death from keeping busybodies busy?

Then, slowly—mechanically—he raised a hand, trying to shield Ollie’s vision.

But the mop dodged.

And Kyle tried again.

Really, he wasn’t even sure who he was trying to protect.

Was it the Captain’s dignity, or was it the innocence of this mop who was clearly shell-shocked?

Or maybe he should just think about his sanity and save himself from this—for they were still at it.

At this, Ollie just stared harder.

And the mop’s antenna was already too straight to bend back to normal.

“My brother is so forward…Is that how married life was supposed to work?”

The stunned blonde was concerned, was he also going to have to deal with cute girls who would eat him like this?!

Would he be able to deal with it?

His father was a proud man, but they all knew who the power was inside the house.

“Kyle, are women like this too? What if all wives are like that?” Ollie asked as he stared blankly at his good and adorable brother.

Kyle groaned. “Yeah. No, I got nothing. Good luck processing this, buddy.”

“Maybe they would, maybe they won’t.”

“I wouldn’t know. I’m not as cute as you.”

And Kyle just gave up.
