Chapter 212: Torturous Benefits
It was the most unconventional working schedule for the likes of the Imperial Crown Prince, who now had to hold office in a mecha hangar.
At first, Luca was concerned about having Xavier around to monitor him.
Wasn’t that a bit too much?
And what about Xavier’s other responsibilities?
Luca had been worried about this and more, especially since he knew just how long he worked inside the facility.
But all of it vanished when he first tried working after all that rest and energy transfer.
Because the difference was worlds apart.
His spiritual energy output was okay when he initially started the build, but it started deteriorating the moment he started needing the aid of spiritual water.
While it was helpful, he started noticing that the energy wasn’t equivalent to the output, even considering that he was already using a spiritual recovery pill as instructed by the elders.
But what could be expected when Luca passed an ocean’s worth of energy through a long and winding tiny tunnel with expectations for it to gush?
Wasn’t it more likely for the entire tunnel to collapse than expecting the output to increase dramatically?
However, with pure and ready-to-use energy from Xavier, Luca was back to unleashing far more tendrils that shocked anybody who could see.
Not to mention his state whenever he used it.
Easy.
Smooth.
And very soothing.
The giddy mecha maker was so excited about how the energy didn’t resist and didn’t even need to be coaxed for use.
It was the best!
And Luca was like an energized worker who was told that a large bonus was on the horizon, provided he performed well!
But beyond the surge of power, Luca couldn’t help but think of how efficient this was.
Every time he siphoned energy from Xavier, it was like drawing from a steady river instead of fighting to channel a chaotic storm.
In fact, he didn’t need to draw; it was like the river was willing to flow and connect with him.
Xavier’s body was built to withstand and manage an enormous amount of energy—something Luca had struggled with his entire life.
In his past life, the energy was too much that the body he was using just decided to continuously let it out, as if his pores were giant exhausts.
And now, because his body hadn’t had spiritual energy in so long, he could feel his limitations when trying to draw the same amount of energy as before.
Maybe it was because he was a guide?
But did that even still apply to him when he’s practically a mutant right now?
His old body was a Guide, and his current and original body had an elemental bloodline ability.
So what does that make him?
He wouldn’t know, and maybe not for a long while.

But Luca didn’t fret as much as he thought he would.
Not when the people around him didn’t treat ‘different’ as an affliction.
No one would even judge blobs or those talking creatures that were definitely not human.
And even if he was weird, the supercharger still allowed him to charge and not just convert.
For free!
That would’ve been unheard of in the centers where the Guides had to almost sell themselves to be allowed such a reciprocation.
Guides were expected to clear away the issues of the Espers, but just because they did that didn’t mean that the same Espers would let go of excess energy they didn’t deem dangerous.
The madness needed to go and acted as a way for the Guides to replenish their expended energy by converting.
But to get pure energy straight from an Esper?
Unheard of.
Even those bonded Guides couldn’t just take them willy-nilly!
For they had their rankings to think of, and letting go of energy like that was tantamount to sacrificing their leaderboard ranks.
But Xavier—
Xavier always allowed him to take pure energy.
And every draw from the generous Crown Prince kept him stable and energized without feeling bloated.
The best part?
His husband could effortlessly replenish it like it was second nature. Provided Luca made sure that Xavier was well nourished.
Such a beneficial contract!
Still, Luca’s mind lingered on the fact that he was sometimes too greedy.
Taking too much without asking properly.
His thoughts churned with guilt, knowing that while the mountain giant seemed fine, that didn’t mean the Prince should bear the burden alone.
The energized chipmunk could still remember Xavier’s face every time they finished a session.
While his skin looked great and his core looked safe, Xavier’s expression always looked pained.
And yet, he never complained.
So, he had to offer the same consideration! And maybe, once he has learned how to improve biomechas, he could learn how to upgrade Sid further!
Although for now, he could only return the favor in ways he was currently capable of doing.
So, maybe he ought to provide more, as D-29 did say that people must all contribute when they are members of a family.
And they were married.
So, one little chipmunk thought of improving his stash so as to better provide for this particular family member.
But maybe it would’ve been better if he concentrated on the build to hasten the end of today’s torture.
A totally different kind.
Yet, the way Xavier leaned into Luca after every refill—silent, steady—said otherwise.
Was he a masochist? Or just crazy?
For his part, Xavier bore it all without complaint.
The exchange was… grounding.
Each time Luca pulled from him, it was as though a piece of the chaotic storm that had recently swirled within Xavier was being plucked away.
Using his spiritual abilities wasn’t an issue. However, this was something born from the usage of his Elemental Ability.
A belated discovery, even.
And would’ve likely been something that people wouldn’t discover because most would never get to the point of being able to use their abilities this much.
However, here he was, with new discoveries regarding human potential, all because they were now able to challenge their limits with much less fear.
But then came these new and unexpected problems.
And yet, with Luca, that pressure lessened.
The budding mechanic was wholly unaware of just how much of a relief it was to Xavier every time he leaned close, those delicate tendrils reaching out.
And the Prince could feel the tension in his body melt as Luca’s presence brushed against his core, provided the workaholic wasn’t suddenly dumping excess energy like last time.
Then, sometimes, there was even this bonus that could either work towards his death or salvation.
An extreme gamble, really.
For sometimes there was that other sensation—a warmth that lingered even after the energy was taken.
A fleeting kiss.
Or what was normally referred to as a power smooch.
It was a different feeling it was just that sometimes he felt like he was losing several years of his life.
Like right now.
Luca’s hands were too smeared with grease and dirt to touch him directly, so the little shorty resorted to puckering up for a refill instead.
And Xavier, who was supposed to be used to this after the seventh time, still scared himself silly whenever he looked down at the waiting little chipmunk.
Yet what could he do but willingly indulge him every single time?
The little penny pincher would smile, his cheeks flushed from the constant hum of energy.
Each smooch was quick, and Xavier had the burden of choosing what to offer, which nearly killed him every time.
For Luca just accepted the greedy Prince’s cheeks, his nose, his forehead, and literally anything he’d give.
It was cute.
Adorable.
And absolute torture.
For what if he decided to offer something else?
Argh!
