Chapter 233: Understanding
This was worrying.
Luca tried visually examining Xavier and was about to ask D-29 to scan him when he saw Xavier’s unusually undignified position.
Far from his usually perfect posture, his roommate now had his forehead against his raised knee.
For he was trying to think.
Xavier was trying to weigh the pros and cons of explaining all this to Luca right now of all times.
His little chipmunk was so pure and unassuming that even the most basic concepts of desire might seem foreign to him. Unless, of course, it was the desire for money.
But Luca’s desire for money cannot be used for this because his version of desiring money is always just seeing it, not touching it or using it.
Luca just wanted to see. And Xavier’s problem was just seeing.
However, the quack doctor interpreted his sighs as signs of an incurable affliction or something worse.
So, when Xavier tried explaining how the revive pill wouldn’t really be able to solve this issue, the little animal flew over to Xavier’s side while trying to check his forehead for signs of fever or even stroke.
“I’m alright. I promise it is not deadly.” The Prince offered a reassuring smile, but obviously, that just made it sound worse, and even D-29 said that in the dramas, that’s how they usually spoke when someone had a terminal illness like a spiritual power imbalance.
Okay, I’m not doing a good job of relaying this. Xavier thought as Luca’s face kept on contorting into even worse expressions.
So, he took a deep breath before beginning.
“Luca, sometimes people experience strong urges.”
The little guide’s brows knitted in curiosity. “Like when you really want something?
Xavier knew he was being vague by skirting around this explanation. But who would be confident enough to explain blue balls to the very reason for the phenomenon?
And just how was he supposed to open his mouth to talk about such impure words when such clear eyes looked at him with intense worry?!
Who would want to volunteer for the job of ruining this innocence?!
But he was now the husband.
Yeah, he was.
And by default, that makes this his job, right?
Right.
“In a sense, yes. But it’s not just a simple want. It’s strong to a degree that can affect you…physically.”
Surprisingly, the little chipmunk nodded as if in understanding, and Xavier was not sure if he was glad about this or not.
Then, with a spark of recognition and sympathy, the little guide asked, “So, like a kleptomaniac?”
“A what?”
“You know. People who have the uncontrollable urge to steal things. It’s supposed to be an illness.”
“And it’s so uncontrollable that they must act on it even if they feel terrible about it afterward.”
Luca tried remembering the things he learned in school, although this was said to be taboo and must be because they allowed themselves to be possessed by demons.
But Xavier didn’t look possessed.

The Prince’s jaw dropped. Clearly, the message did not land quite right.
“No, uh, definitely not like that.”
Luca frowned. “Oh. Then what kind of urge is it?”
“You know how sometimes some people find something cute and have all the desire to touch it, pet it, and squeeze it?”
Hmm.
Oh yeah.
Luca tried imagining that time when he saw a little bunny and felt the same way.
But pain?
He didn’t particularly feel pain but felt a bit sad that it was something he couldn’t afford as it was from a pet shop window and something that was definitely out of his budget.
And so he tried sharing this experience with a Prince who just noted down the bunny, but felt like his kidney was being kicked the longer this went on.
“If anything, maybe I should be glad that it hasn’t happened with you,” Xavier said as he ruffled Luca’s hair.
“I don’t think so.”
Luca looked up at Xavier, thinking that was bad because people wouldn’t know how to help if no one was familiar with the illness.
“We need to know what’s wrong so we can fix it. And if no one understands it, how do we ask for help to treat it.”
This was urgent as the more Luca looked at Xavier, the more he could see the resignation in his husband’s eyes.
“Hey, it’s not like that. I know how to solve it in a sense, but the solution can be a bit selfish.”
“Not to mention how the problem isn’t as simple. It’s just a matter of me learning how to control it.”
“But isn’t it because of my Guiding?”
It was that tentative voice that usually got Xavier surrendering.
Like right now.
“I promise, it’s not the energy. It’s just something about how I react to the way you guide me.”
This alerted the Guide, whose back was now straight and eager to understand where the problem lay.
But Xavier knew this was a lost cause.
And the Imperial Crown Prince, turned blue-balled husband, just sighed in resignation.
“I could show you.”
“I’m not sure if it would work on you…but I could try letting you experience a bit of it.”
Luca blinked. “You can?”
The resigned Xavier nodded. As much as he wanted to explain it, that’s likely not going to work for someone who has never known such carnal desires.
It was the same way they’d never known what they were missing out on before ever tasting the food that Luca had served them.
“Yeah. But only if you agree to a few conditions.”
The little Guide sat like an obedient student as Xavier held up four fingers with a serious expression.
“One, you must understand that this might feel uncomfortable. But just because it’s meant to be uncomfortable to illustrate this pain, it doesn’t mean you have to keep on going with the flow.”
“This brings us to the second point. You must remember that you can stop this at any point. If you feel you don’t want it, do not hesitate to tell me to stop.”
Xavier looked pointedly at the rather confused Luca, but that was the most important part.
He might not be able to live with himself if he traumatized this guy.
“Do you understand?” He had to ask again.
And Luca nodded as he burned Xavier’s conditions in his memory.
“Three, that you won’t run away after this. If anything bothers you, promise that we’ll talk about it instead. This is important, Luca.”
“Just like you want to understand my problem, I want to understand you too.”
Oh well, the runner who usually had clothes packed had to inform D-29 that they couldn’t do that after hearing Xavier’s words.
“Fourth—”
The Prince had to stop.
This wasn’t really a condition but more like a request that Luca could really opt to ignore. But at the same time, he felt like he needed to make this known as early as now.
“Please try not to hate me after this.”
Luca’s heart pounded. Because Xavier looked unusually pitiful. And the little guide couldn’t help but wonder just how bad this thing was for him to look like that.
Was his guiding really problematic?
And has Xavier been enduring this kind of thing for a while now?
Luca clutched at his chest, more curious than ever, and if it’s Xavier, it should be fine, right?
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Xavier, it has to do with my Guiding, right? Therefore, it’s something I probably did…then if so, I think I should know.”
Xavier nodded.
“Then will you be okay with me re-enacting your guiding?”
