Chapter 242: Demon
Ollie was unsure why the heavens had been testing him, but with his good luck in meeting Luca, there ought to be a balancing exchange.
And maybe this was it.
After all, good luck didn’t come without a price.
For the poor mop was right.
His room was really haunted!
Haunted by a giant beast that was currently gunning for him.
And Ollie could only scream as he ran out for his very flimsy life!
“HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPP!” Screeched the young man who was clearly not built for this.
And he was so not built for this that once he realized that there was no escaping that looming creature, Ollie opted to whisk himself to safety and into the Dungeon space.
“D-29! If you could hear me, please tell my brother to leave the house! There is a demon in the Manor!” Ollie shivered as he announced his plight.
“!!!”
Now, this was something else. For even D-29, who had been on guard since earlier, was surprised to learn that a demon had infiltrated the premises!
How could there be a demon when the little system followed Sid’s warnings to the letter?
“Guarantee absolute silence and ensure the security is on point.”
And the Dungeon system made sure to do just that.
So, when the Manor’s AI initially activated the first alarm, D-29 silenced it after confirming that no uncontracted personnel had been moving around.
And it did that for the next alarms that were clearly set to disturb the peace!
Why would it alarm about those gifts that were left for the Host?! Especially when those were materials that were definitely not trash!
So, the faithful little system, which did not want its Host to faint, made sure to cancel this unreasonable alarm!
Hmph!
But there it was again! This time, it was considering the Duke, who owned the entire Manor, as a burglar!
Tsk, tsk.
No wonder Sid told him to pause counting sheep to check for possible problems!
Because this Manor’s AI was surely out there blocking what Sid mentioned as a monumental step in a relationship.
Who would be blamed if D-29 could not get the promised translator once the life-changing event failed?!
Surely, no one but this AI!
But what was this talk about demons?!
In the first place, what kind of demon did they get?
Was it the demon that looks good and always gets the girl?
Or that one with one eye and barely a leg?

D-29 had several questions, but soon enough, they would figure out just what kind of demon had been lurking in the shadows.
Everyone who could come got there as soon as possible, and Ollie was delighted to see that his brother was all right!
“Brother! You’re safe!” Ollie rushed out to check on his good brother as the others watched this uncanny reunion.
“I am, brother, but more than that, what happened to you?” Luca was worried because D-29’s report sounded urgent, and with how Ollie looked right now, it must have been really bad!
“It was that thing! I knew it! Last night, I felt like the room was haunted, and look, I was right! So, I immediately left and hunkered down for safety.”
“Last night?”
Ollie nodded earnestly.
“I have been hearing the oddest noises since yesterday.” Ollie started re-telling what had happened to him yesterday.
At first, he’d been hearing scuffling noises but ignored them. But then, while he was doing his late-night banana chip snacking while watching a few live streams, the noises started intensifying.
The scuffling turned into hissing, and then suddenly, the veranda lights opened by themselves!
Now, Ollie tried being brave; he really did. And even went to open the door while holding his wrench.
But there was nothing.
Only, as he turned around, his glass of strawberry juice had been knocked down with a thud.
And Ollie lost it.
He was scared shitless and bolted out of his room without bothering to look back, for those who looked back would always get eaten!
But maybe if he did, he would’ve seen just what camouflaged its way into his once peaceful room.
Ollie’s first stop was Jax, whose room was directly next to his. But his knocking did not elicit a response, and Ollie was afraid of staying out there and prayed for Kyle to answer.
Thankfully, he did.
“Initially, he wanted to check it out. But I said no, because if he had watched enough shows, that’s how people die.” Ollie wore a grim expression.
“And I believe that I just saved him by forcing him to stay put! Imagine, Kyle, if you had gone out after episode 3, you would’ve likely perished!” shivered the mop who imagined the gruesome scene.
“So, in the end, I just slept together with Kyle!” he shrugged, finishing his story that had Luca gasping several times over.
“You too, brother?!” Luca was wide-eyed and only barely calmed down after remembering his father talking about his brother’s boyfriend.
“Oh! You also?! Were you also attacked?!”
“No! No, I hadn’t been attacked!” Luca immediately raised his hand, although he had in his mind been the one to attack.
“That’s good then. In our case, it was hard at first, but we did our best.”
“I think.” Ollie wasn’t exactly sure how, but it was tough at first because he, someone unused to sharing a bed, had apparently kicked the actual room owner several times and had to be woken up for this violence.
And yes, it took a while until Kyle decided to just sleep by the foot of the bed unless he wanted to risk more back pain.
But to the newly awakened Luca, who heard all this, his imagination had drifted to when he had hurt Xavier and decided to offer a healing pill in lieu of his brother’s possible transgressions.
“Brother, I don’t think he’d have that many injuries. It was only a few kicks, I swear!” Ollie saw the pill and thought it should be unnecessary, right?! After all, he barely had any muscles compared to Kyle!
“You kicked him?!” Luca was bewildered and looked up at Xavier before saying, “Xavier, it seems like you were right. It really does happen!”
Now, in a long time since he’d forgone his dignity, one Imperial Crown Prince felt vindicated as he murmured to Luca in a low voice.
“See? Although that, admittedly, is a bit too unconventional.” Before holding Luca by the waist, he looked at his adjutant with a pitying gaze.
“…”
“…”
Wait a minute. Kyle thought, the gears in his mind trying to catch up with his Captain’s newfound humor.
“!!!”
But before anyone could voice indignance at this, Xavier said, “I think we must assist in capturing this demon.”
This effectively pulled them back into the important topic.
But even then, one redhead had been left processing the information, which only clicked after their meeting about specifics ended.
It took a while.
A really long while. But Jax eventually stopped dead in his tracks at his brother’s predicament.
And Kyle noticed this.
No.
Oh no.
“Jax, shut up.”
“I haven’t even said anything!”
But there was no need to hear anything. They’ve been attached to the hip for too long to know just how many wheels are turning in the mind of this simpleton.
And while extremely few, they were all very, very potent.
“Don’t even think about it. Don’t you dare curse me.”
But there was no need to. He could do that perfectly by himself.
