Chapter 32: Interrogation
Too late.
Luca’s hand slapped the door panel, which opened the door with a hiss.
But instead of the corridor marking his freedom, he found a group of people standing in the hallway.
And they all turned to stare at him with wide eyes.
However, as their expressions changed from surprise and confusion to a mild case of horror, Luca realized it was because of the guy behind him.
“Oh no,” Luca whispered.
“Oh no,” Echoed the Towel guy behind him.
The group outside appeared to be on a tour to discuss possible upgrades to the student dormitory. Now, they were all staring at Luca like he was a zoo animal. Which, honestly, wasn’t far from how he felt at the moment.
“Butler Gary?” one of them muttered.
“Is that him?” another one said, a finger slightly jutting to point out the people by the dead end.
“Him?” Luca’s voice cracked as he asked.
But before anyone could elaborate on who “him” was supposed to be, a strong arm grabbed Luca by the waist and yanked him back into the room—leaving several people stunned, especially a catatonic Butler, whose three worldviews had been shattered.
“Who are you?! And what the hell were you thinking?!” Xavier asked the little guy, who was now pressed against his chest.
If he didn’t lock him in properly, who knows where he’d run to again?!
Just then, Luca regretted leaving his safe space.
However, he found it annoying that, even though he was horrified by his situation, he still managed to compare himself to this Towel guy.
Since he had been obsessed with fixing his physical constitution, he was more observant of things like muscles and abs. And with how he was being held like a doll, Luca was hyper-aware of the solid chest and chiseled abs.
Why was everything so unfair? Luca couldn’t help but cry in his heart.
Not only was he easily captured, but even the kidnapper looked better than him.
If the Towel guy decided to wring his fragile body, he’d fold faster than a washcloth.
“I don’t like repeating myself. So, answer my questions. Who are you, and what are you doing here?!”
Luca knew he wasn’t playing, and against all odds, he tried to explain himself.
“I’m Luca, and this is my dorm room. If anything, I should be asking about your identity.”
I mean, I would, but I love my insignificant life.
“Your dorm?” Xavier couldn’t believe that any of this just happened.
“Since when was this your dorm room?” So many unbelievable things just happened, and now this little chipmunk was telling him that this was also his dorm.
“Then why run away?” Xavier’s eyes scrutinized Luca, who felt like a machine was scanning him.
In reality, he ran away because he was surprised to find a naked man coming out from a door that wasn’t even supposed to open. But how could he admit that he was scared off by a bare chest?
“I was just spooked. I didn’t expect anyone to come out from that door since I didn’t see any changes in the room when I returned.”

Luca tried explaining his side, but the guy’s scowl just deepened.
“You expect me to believe that a student from the Royal Military Academy would run away when spooked? Are you a deserter?”
“No! It’s because I thought you were a ghost!” He clutched his fists tightly; the stress of explaining his actions was now getting to him.
Luca had never seen anyone with such long white hair and such bright azure eyes back in Tesseris. However, he looked at it; the towel guy looked like a supernatural creature.
And he was tall, really tall!
Luca thought that way, but in reality, his view was skewed by how short he was. As much as the guy before him was tall and lean, it was really just Luca, who was unbelievably petite for a soldier—especially a Combat division student.
Xavier finally saw this kid’s badge, which should be legitimate unless he had a death wish.
This puny guy was a ranker?
He looked him up and down, trying to see if he had characteristics of other species that maybe allowed him to survive the assessment.
But Xavier couldn’t spot anything else. This guy was an ordinary human.
This chipmunk said his name was Luca, right?
Xavier went through the updated database; indeed, there was a Luca. It was Luca Kyros.
As someone heavily familiar with the Empire’s nobility, he knew of Luca; he’d even seen the young boy as a child, and the features matched what he remembered.
But—
Xavier had doubts because the news updates about this philandering noble praised him for his dashing looks and the bleeding hearts he left in his wake.
Luca Kyros was the biggest playboy of the century, according to the news that kept on revolving around him. But how could this guy in front of him be a playboy when he couldn’t even handle looking at him?
Xavier kept associating him with a little animal because he was so skittish. He kept glancing at his body, blushing to his ears every time he realized where his gaze was.
He could see him but decided only to observe his reactions.
The supposed Playboy, on the other hand, was being cornered by this very ‘manly’ man.
Luca was unfamiliar with the feeling because people didn’t like being near him back when he was Lucas. The knowledge that he was dangerous kept people as far away as possible. Mostly behind visual screens when possible.
He wasn’t used to such close contact, and he kept on recoiling in fear of causing a rampage that shouldn’t even exist in this world.
But just as he wanted out from the guy’s grasp, D-29 nearly blew his head off in excitement.
“Host! Please keep at it! This guy—touching him increased the CP meter! Please hold on a bit longer! Or what about touching more of him?”
“Are you insane?!” It was obvious that doing that would get him killed.
The Towel guy already seemed ready to skewer him if he answered incorrectly, and the problem was that he seemed to keep answering incorrectly.
Luca felt that life was unfair. All he wanted to do was dust the room before the inspection!
He vowed not to clean again, in fear of encountering something this scary!
On the other hand, Xavier observed how the chipmunk’s face cracked for one moment, only to be masked by a stern look.
Then he heard something even more absurd.
“You, you must be a pervert, right?”
