Chapter 34: First Meeting
Since the ground didn’t swallow him, Luca had to think of ways to explain himself. And maybe apologize since he didn’t think he’d end up doing something like that, too.
But the Towel guy moved faster than expected and was gone quickly. And by the time Luca looked over, the bathroom door was already closing behind the guy’s back.
He wanted to wait for him to come out, but when he didn’t, Luca could only put it off for later. These people’s burning gazes were too strong to ignore, so he could only sigh before dealing with them.
The original Lucas had an impression of a few of these people. Well, mostly, it was an impression of the Butler who was blocking the door, but it seemed like he’d seen a few of the others, too.
“Hi. Sorry you had to witness that. I also wasn’t sure of what happened.” What ‘that’ was, he wasn’t really sure, but based on their expressions, he probably did something unthinkable.
“Host! If you want to know what happened, I have a recording! I wanted to record the moment we got some CP points for reference!” The little system was proud, not knowing that its host had a very bitter expression.
Who wants a recording of their black history?! Luca wanted to whack the system, which only had goodwill in its coding.
While Luca was still hung up on the embarrassing turn of events, the people blocking the door were now surprised at hearing something come out of their Lord’s mouth.
Especially Butler Gary. He only saw the video of their Lord moving about, and his mind didn’t even think about the possibility of him even speaking.
This was the first time in nearly 13 years that they’d heard his voice again. Don’t even think about joy; Butler Gary was nearly weeping on the spot.
Thankfully, the hulking guard in their group reminded him that they didn’t have much time. Soon, the other touring group would return with the staff, and they wouldn’t be able to talk to their Lord.
“Lord Luca… is that really you?” It was probably the stupidest question the Butler could ask, but this was the one everyone wanted to know.
Technically, if this guy were an impostor, he would also get a positive answer, but he still wanted to ask regardless, like hearing it from their Lord’s mouth could pacify the burning sensation in their hearts.
And there was still the matter of the actual impostor looking nothing close to their Lord, not that they looked at him with rose-colored lenses. Even forgetting that the body double used a mask that would copy their Lord’s features.
But it was no use trying to convince these people otherwise since, even if they looked for the Empire’s best-looking jewels, none would match the Lord’s eyes.
For the most part, Luca could only nod and affirm his question with a “yes.” But he wasn’t really sure how to explain that he was Luca now. Especially not when he could see intense devotion in the eyes of these people.
In fact, the moment he answered, the Butler strode in faster than any older man he’d seen, only for him to be scooped from the ground like a doll.
“I am so glad that you have recovered! You don’t know how happy we all are! Even the Duke wanted to rush over despite his condition, but sadly, the doctors forbade him from leaving…” The Butler still held Luca by the arm as his expression turned extreme like a strobe light.
“Condition? Why, what was wrong with the Duke?!” Luca focused on this point and was unsure of what to call his supposed father, so he stuck with what was formal.
“Aish! Today is supposed to be a good day, Lord Luca. We’re here to meet you and check on you, not make you worry about the Duke’s condition.”
“Then tell me right away, what’s wrong?” He was already occupying this guy’s body. If anything, being a good tenant was one thing he could do. He also promised to be a good son if the parent was at least non-threatening.
Luca’s standards were really low because he hadn’t really had parents that lasted for more than two weeks. Not to mention, they would all turn rabid after the initial kindness. So, all that he was hoping for was to get a relatively stable father.
“You may not remember, but it’s the Spiritual Power Imbalance. The Duke was infected about two years ago and managed to hold off the symptoms with spiritual relics.” The Butler had a solemn expression as if he didn’t want to worry Luca about the Duke’s condition. But his tightly clenched fist betrayed his portrayal of ‘it’s manageable.’
It was that illness again. D-29 explained that to him, as well as his hypothesis. These people weren’t fully aware that their environment handicapped those who used their abilities often.
“How bad is it?” Luca asked, but he didn’t even have to wait for a reply because the sudden drooping of their shoulders gave him the answer he was looking for.
Technically, Luca and D-29 weren’t sure about their conjectures, but Luca had an idea. He was actually thinking of sending over a pill, but he’s never tested it on people with the illness and didn’t want to send his only relative to an early grave.
So, he thought about the next best thing. He was going for fruits.
The Butler felt his heart soften when he saw the distress in their Lord’s face. It had been so many years, and yet he was still concerned about the Duke. Their young Lord was indeed the best!
“If it’s okay with you, I’d like to trouble you to send a few items to the Duke. I recently bought some items from the Star Mall. And by sheer accident, it seemed like I was lucky to acquire a few of these.” Luca gave the same excuse to Ollie and figured it should be believable.

The Butler watched in half horror and amazement when their Lord pulled out some delectable-looking apples. But he was actually horrified because of two things. He knew that the Lord had no money on him, nor did he have a space button. They didn’t put any on him in case someone decided to rob their Lord. And it wasn’t advisable to leave those on him when their Lord wasn’t capable of using them.
And now, not only did he buy something, but he also had a space button.
Was this from the body double and the guard? Speaking of which, where the hell were they?! Butler Gary had no idea yet since investigations were still ongoing. For now, all that he could do was apologize sincerely and maybe offer up his life for compensation!”
“Lord! Forgive this Butler, for my incompetence! Please punish me for allowing you to suffer!”
Luca wasn’t sure what was happening and forgot about money and space buttons. He forgot how these people must know about the lack of both.
“It’s alright. Stop apologizing.” The Butler looked ready to kneel on the floor, and Luca had to stop him from doing something outrageous.
“If anything, please help me by sending these over to the Duke and getting me a few contacts. My terminal is rather blank.” He only had Ollie on there and couldn’t expect to depend too much on him.
Then, the Butler realized he was useless again, as he let his Lord hold up the bag of apples. He quickly grabbed the apples to relieve him of the baggage but nearly buckled when they reached his hands.
“This…? Lord Luca… How did you get your hands on these?!
