Chapter 358: Narrative
Recovery was difficult for the father, who was wondering if these kids were right in the head, and the mother, who had just envisioned a wild future for her sunny boy.

But how could they resist when Luca picked up fresh lettuce, washed it, and then gave it to the Mylor couple to try?

Apparently, peace tasted like this.

And maybe if they had started with this, the hesitant couple could’ve just signed the contract.

Because you’re saying one could just go in there, grab one to eat, just like that?! What were they all waiting for?!

“Brother…” Ollie looked at his parents, salivating as he watched their expressions morph into sheer ecstasy.

“Do you also want one, brother?!” Luca asked before getting a few more for his three friends.

But did Ollie just want one? What a silly question! Of course, he wanted it all! Especially after getting to taste such crisp and delicate revelation!

Jax, on the other hand, was still shellshocked because wasn’t this place a bit too marvelous?!

Just look at how these vegetables were growing! And there really was no need for soil! And the taste?! And the speed of growth?!

Was it because the spiritual water was just right under the entire time?

He had so many questions and felt like he needed to see if his really great grandchildren could benefit from such housing!

Maybe he could learn to make a backyard version by asking Ollie and Luca if the blueprints could be modified?

And what do you know, one enthusiastic plant parent may have just started another farming revolution.

But that would be much later, once they manage to actually convince the Mylors to sell them their allocation for Titaniumite and Plasmium.

“Pop, Mom! This is why we want to try it out. Imagine having more supply of this?!”

“We can’t exactly keep on selling products, especially on a larger scale, when we have no facility to show for it! That would be too dangerous!”

“But did you think about what would happen if someone learns you’ve got a facility for this?” Asked the father, who knew more than anyone that such goods would call upon all sorts of evil.

“I apologize for cutting in, but actually, My Lord, this is why my father decided to put it right within the Kyros Manor.”

“We’ve long been concerned about safety, and so nearly every member of the house, down to the last manor employee, has been working on triple time to ramp up security.”

The heir tried to remember what his mom told him. She said it was important to make this clear, and this invite was in part to welcome them but also to show them the might of their house for reassurance.

So, in the worst-case scenario, they must witness the mini-tournament at the arena.

Kyle then looked at Luca and decided to take over as this had always been his forte.

“My Lord, My Lady, our guild’s efforts not only include farming but also improving the combat and defense capabilities of everyone involved.”

“And that includes specialized training using state-of-the-art technology that the military hasn’t even seen. As well as creating weapons and mechas that far outpace what is in the market.”

Ollie harumphed at this, proud because many of the things that go boom were courtesy of him! And at least he was sure he had done some work in this department!

Heck, they even have the most comfortable mechas!

Proven and tested, even!

“You look awfully proud of yourself there, son?” questioned the marquis, who, even if he wanted to, wouldn’t really be able to escape the intense gaze of his son, who probably kept mentally screaming “ask me! Ask me!”

So he did.

“Were you involved in any of that?”

“Why yes, Pop! HO HO! If you wanna know~” he said, only to be interrupted by his mother.

“Yes, we want to know. We want to know why, despite all that, you still got into this situation that you still haven’t even explained to us?”

Okay, Ollie kind of regretted that.

Maybe he shouldn’t have looked at his father right at that moment.

“Mom! I swear it was totally out of the blue! And for one, I wasn’t even the original target!”

The marquise had a brow raised for none of that actually made it any better.

Jax, on the other hand, decided to listen because none of them really got the chance to discuss this. After all, they got too distracted by all the crying and ice cream when they returned.

But maybe they should’ve listened to the story elsewhere, and maybe while sitting down, because the great flood gates would apparently open with this.

Ollie actually started with suddenly waking up to those footsteps and an expensive-looking man, who he now mentioned to apparently be Killian Nox, Kyle’s older brother.

And while most of the story involved him saying that those pirates were actually looking for a beast until they realized he was there, it was still wild for the parents, who now looked at their son differently.

“So, we kept on hiding in the vents. But those evil people decided to hold a child hostage, and it was really something!” Ollie clenched at his heart while Kyle tried keeping it together because he remembered just how the mop re-enacted this story.

“I’m guessing you didn’t surrender to them?” Asked the mother, who couldn’t help but inspect her son more.

“I thought about doing that for a split second, but realized I could call for help, so I teleported back after swearing a pinky promise with the expensive man, mind you!”

“…”

“…”

“Then I ran back and asked for help because there was just no way I’d be able to take on any of them!”

“But that’s only what I thought! Because would you guess who took a pirate out? Huh?!”

“It’s me! I did! I even double-tapped him for good measure, like mom always said! Better safe than sorry!” He re-enacted it while whacking at the air as everyone stared at him in both awe and embarrassment.

Luca obviously was in awe of his good brother, and Jax felt that it was a great accomplishment, while the rest were just saying a few prayers for themselves and for the future.

“But son, why didn’t you contact us, after all that? A simple message would’ve worked too!”

“Oh…”

“About that…sorry, Mom, Pop! It’s because I fell asleep after taking care of the kids. And by the time I woke up, we had already crash-landed inside another dungeon and Kyle was already bleeding.”

Ollie looked bashful as he rubbed his neck in embarrassment because he really woke up after they had crashed.

“What?!”

“Yeah! We couldn’t believe it either! Because we lost the ability to contact anyone, and we couldn’t even teleport back!” His shrill voice practically echoed through the dome.

“No, no! Not that! You’re saying you slept through a crash?!”

The blonde grimaced before smiling an awkward smile.

“Well, yes, Mom. But see, I survived!” He shook both hands, but his mother just looked like she was about to bite off his head.

“With sheer luck?! How lucky would you be next time?!” She hissed at the mop, who was pouting in unfairness.

Shouldn’t she be consoling him, the son who almost died?

“Kyle was—”

“Kyle again? Son, what would you do when Kyle’s not around?” She sighed, her voice suddenly softer as she asked him to think about it.

“Huh?”

“But Mom, why would Kyle not be around?” He asked, head tilted as he blinked at the unbelievable question.

Oh.

Oh, this boy.

Bless his heart. Thought the mother, who was thinking about how she gave birth to this one, while looking over at the also confused giant next to her.

Ah. Babies.

In all this, Kyle was actually unsure of what was happening, but when Ollie’s mother looked at him, he was sure he was judged!

Of course he was! After all, in the mind of one mother, a narrative had already been formed.
