Chapter 361: Medical Bay
Vasovagal Syncope.
The doctors described what likely happened with the sudden patients, who attracted everyone’s attention.
How could they not when it was Young Lords Luca and Ollie?
It was the most shocking thing that happened as several people swarmed the medical bay, which rarely saw patients other than the knocked-out soldiers on their daily schedule.
But today, not only did they get all those recuperating guards who are trying to cram last minute practice, they also received Lord Xavier and then their unlikeliest patients who were followed by so many other people.
Luca’s sudden fainting spell called the highest-ranking members of House Kyros, as they descended on the Medical Bay with a vengeance.
“My son! What happened to my son?!” Roared the Duke, who almost lunged inside if not for the Duchess stopping him.
“If he’s resting and you wake him up, you better prepare to be the next patient!” Hissed the Duchess, who glared at her husband.
They were worried, especially hating it when anything about fainting was mentioned, because that was how they lost him the first time around.
“Your Grace! The Young Lord woke up just a few moments ago and is in the room with the others because he asked to stay with them.”
“Others? And what happened to him? Did you figure out why he fainted?” Asked the mother who wanted to prepare herself before entering the place.
“We have a guess, Your Grace…”
“Just a guess?! Is it some illness we haven’t heard of yet?!”
“No-no! It’s because the Young Lord fainted after seeing Lord Xavier inside the medical tank.”
“???”
“You see, the actual patient was actually Young Lord Ollie, who was brought in here by the heir. It was just that when they got to us, they were shocked to see the tank.”
“And the Young Lord seemed specifically affected because he even woke up with a start, looking for Lord Xavier.”
“What?! In the first place, what was wrong with that kid for him to be inside the medical tank?!”
Duke Leander was confused because he hadn’t heard of illnesses from anyone frequenting the spaces but now they had three down but then he was more surprised by the explanation he heard.
“It’s sparring. I told him to recuperate properly after our sparring session.”
The people around them including those trying not to overhear things stopped dead in their tracks. And some even held their breath as the duchess snorted as she said this.
“What?! Honey! Is the boy alive?! How mangled is he?!”
“Did you manage to save his vital organs?!” For some reason, Duke Leander was suddenly unsurprised about his son fainting from seeing such a scene that probably looked so gruesome even he might blink.
“What the hell are you talking about?! Of course he’s alive! In one piece too!”
“Ow! Ow! Why are you elbowing me? I was just concerned! Our son seems really fond of that pitiful wolf, and you, of all people, decided to spar against him?! He’s already so pitiful! And now he seems to have a death wish?!”
“You talk like I’ve killed someone for sparring?!”
If there was such a thing as a collective flinching, then that must be it, as several people flinched at the statement of their duchess.
Yes. No one has died.
Yet.
But if you count the number of people who were about three hairs away from death, then it would’ve been a different scenario.

“Honey, why did you even agree to sparring with him?!”
“Agree? No. I required the kids.”
“What?!”
“After what we survived, I couldn’t leave anything to chance. They needed to be ready—ready in ways only our best efforts could achieve. That’s why they would all have to be trained.”
Also, I’m doing this because the moment you find out, he’d likely end up in a worse condition, or you’ll end up on your way to the medical bay yourself.
But if she was being honest with herself, both would likely happen. And that kid’s only guarantee was how his life was tied to this live wire’s baby.
And really, they’re overreacting! That kid had the eyes of someone who’s had blood in his hands. That kind of kid couldn’t possibly end up that mangled with one session.
Truth be told, he’s actually got potential. A lot of it, in fact. And that was a good thing considering who this person might be.
But she doesn’t plan on confirming it, not just yet, for doing so would change the power structure, and teaching like this wouldn’t work.
It was a rare moment to enjoy the bliss of ignorance, but in this case, she’d rather not know until she’s satisfied she’d beaten all the sense she could into him.
Which, for one, requires her to check on the recording of their earlier sparring session.
It was a close combat session focusing on spiritual abilities. And really, that was a big part of his potential, as this kid has been limited to using just a part of his arsenal, and yet still managed to survive.
It was like a switch was flipped the moment they started.
And she liked his no-nonsense approach when he didn’t hesitate to close the gap as he aimed a strike for her solar plexus.
But Duchess Amelia was no newbie.
Her foot pivoted, barely enough to evade, her arm sliding down to parry the incoming blow with a spiritual energy shield layered over her forearm.
Xavier then adjusted mid-flow, transitioning the strike into a hook kick powered with compressed spiritual force, aiming for her ribs. She deflected again, barely shifting her weight, her expression deepening into intrigue.
The kid’s attacks came fast, precise, and relentless. Every move economized—no wasted motion. No tells. Just lethal intent translated into sparring legality.
His hands struck like knives. His kicks followed angles designed not for damage, but for incapacitation.
And yet—he wasn’t winning.
Not by a long shot, and probably not for a while.
Because the observing trainer wasn’t meeting him head-on.
She was merely reading him. Learning. Testing. For she wanted to know just what kind of fighter managed to snag her baby.
A very clean one, apparently.
