Chapter 55: Sudden Haul
Noah couldn’t believe his eyes. He found it unbelievable that he had to rub them to check whether he was seeing things.
While Space buttons were popular among the Interstellar people, they were an item that could only be bought by the rich, especially after the onset of dwindling resources.
But space buttons were just storage spaces and not whatever this was that Luca was doing.
Luca’s hand was outstretched, and he held a space button. Noah expected him to put the goods in but wasn’t sure how he planned to deal with the goo all over the place.
He wasn’t planning on touching those, right?!
He couldn’t be that crazy, right?
Thankfully, he wasn’t.
There was no need to touch because the moment Luca finished storing the contaminated wares, he began pointing the space button towards the contaminated goo, and it was sucked in like a vacuum cleaner.
Noah was poor, but he had so many rich classmates that he knew and saw how space buttons worked. You’ve got to at least touch the item. But Luca was just vacuuming it from afar.
So, he wasn’t kidding when he said that their duchy had been working on something that could deal with the contamination!
He looked at that space button and thought about how it would benefit so many people if they succeeded.
On the other hand, Luca, the generally honest boy, was having a hard time dealing with the act he had to ‘perform.’
The space button was real, but it was just being used as props. He was holding it out because it would be weird if he just stood there and things started disappearing.
So, he pretended to walk around the shop and the attached house, trying to get closer before his Dungeon did its thing.
The only thing that made it difficult was how he had to stare at the goo properly because, for some reason, the Dungeon would prioritize areas with more goo.
It was like a glutton’s quest for the biggest share, as if someone were out there to steal it.
What kind of crazy entity would even want such things?! Number one, it smelled horrible, and if Luca had not been used to even worse smells, he’d be vomiting by now.
But this Dungeon just kept on gobbling up everything, and Luca even had to confirm with D-29 that it was going straight into the Dungeon inventory and not into his space.
“The space is safe, Host. The inventory has no tangible limit and can surely store this much!” D-29 answered in a chirp, extremely glad that they now had fresh stocks coming in.
Maybe in the entire Empire of Solaris, only these two idiots were excited to see this much corruption.
While Luca was concerned about looking less shady about this new method of the duchy, the people outside, including Ollie, who had been standing outside but decided not to interrupt Luca, were all in awe at how the house started looking clean again.
First, they were shocked that all the displayed goods vanished into thin air. And then, a young man started walking around with his hand outstretched.
If this was back in Tesseris, Luca would look like an exorcist, only missing the holy water and relic, plus a chant here and there.
But he had no plans on going that far. So, he just made it seem like he was slowly working through it when he could’ve done it in seconds.
“I was slow enough, right?” It was even difficult to slow down the Dungeon’s vacuuming as if it had its own life decisions.
“Very much so, Host. We took an entire 5 minutes longer than earlier.” D-29 re-assured Luca.
“Okay, that should be good!”
Once Luca was done, he looked over to the three people behind him and hoped they wouldn’t find him weird enough.
But of course, this young man and his little system weren’t exactly screwed on right. Their 5-minute clean-up wasn’t close to the 2-day blow-torching that should’ve happened had he not intervened.

Right outside the shop was Ollie, who was this close to calling the Military base to report the sudden attack. But his hand froze when he saw how Luca was dealing with the contamination.
His little brother had such a thing with him?! If that was the case, was he supposed to call the Military base or just fuck it and go straight to the Emperor?
Hello?!
He was someone who had been directly affected by contaminated goods, damaging everything in the supply chain.
And here was his sworn brother, vacuuming the contamination like it was ordinary dust.
“…”
But then he realized this might be a top-secret matter and chose not to do anything, fearing his brother would be taken for questioning and never to see the light of day again.
Then he looked at the other vendors who left their own stalls to watch what was happening.
It was rather obvious because all of a sudden, the house was emptied, and the facade was cleaned like it had been power-washed.
As the only person confused about the sudden attention, Luca had to ask, “Is everything okay?”
The people before him just nodded like meerkats in unison, and Luca was glad that it was the case.
“Hopefully, we can borrow a detector later to verify the overall safety of the house.”
Luca couldn’t verify it yet, but the Dungeon stopped taking in anything, so he hoped that everything was fine.
“And, sir, I apologize for your curtains and mattresses. I couldn’t clean the porous items the same way I was dealing with the other ones, so I took them with me. If you could tell me how much more I owe you for it?”
The splatters of goo went through the open windows and straight into the bed, and Luca couldn’t guarantee its safety, so he just took it to be safe.
Noah swore up and down that he was going to bite his tongue if he got any more thoughts on Luca’s character.
He actually felt like he was going to die of embarrassment, especially since Luca didn’t even bring up his godawful behavior.
This was real nobility, huh? Like it was a person who was actually noble in deeds and speech. Not just in the blood.
Their whole family was grateful and even wanted him to take the clothes if he thought they were needed, but Luca refused because he thought they were clean.
They were about to thank him and express their appreciation when the people outside clamored to talk to Luca as well.
“Huh?”
Why, of course, everyone affected wanted to prostrate in front of Luca to assist with the clean-up as he did for this family.
What was amusing was how they had no idea that Luca paid for the items he was cleaning.
When he apologized and informed the people that he was currently only capable of buying at cost, some merchants wept in shock.
They were only hoping to at least get back the house, but this young man was also offering to buy it at a cost. That means they’d have a way to start again, right?
Luca had to do this for 10 more shops, spending a total of around 60 million star coins.
His loan was evidently large, and he was a tad bit scared about it. But when he looked at the inventory to check their haul, Luca found it hard to stifle a smile.
He was beyond happy because, with this, he should be able to buy more things, right?
Like the Corruption detector.
Luca hid in one of the bathrooms to recycle a few of his spoils just to afford the detector.
At first, he wanted to call on the military to check, but he was afraid of leaving these people before he was sure that everything was clean.
D-29 can actually scan up to a particular distance, but it would take them too long and may be a hit or miss because his location might leave a few gaps.
On the other hand, the detector they obtained scanned for the closest possible location. If nothing was scanned within a particular distance, then they should be fine.
True enough.
When the detector finally showed something, it was ways away, likely outside of the current dome they were in.
When Luca and Ollie eventually left, the dwellers and vendors decided to remember them and always offer them the best items and discounts. At best, they could give them the items for free.
Even Ollie received the same treatment because if Lord Luca was a good person, then his friend must be the same, right?
