Chapter 68: Collective Filter
It was as if a parallel world existed.
Two people were genuinely conversing about the sudden presence of a giant bruise.
“Hngh!” Luca gasped because Xavier’s thumb brushed against the swollen area. It wasn’t that painful, but Luca was surprised that it was even there.
He doesn’t really go around touching his chest, and didn’t think it’d be that bad. Now, he even started wondering if the injury looked too serious for someone to react like this.
Luca decided to look in the mirror after.
“Was it that bad? I didn’t get to see it.”
“Now, when you actually have to see things, you don’t even look. Maybe you should reconsider your priorities?” Xavier deadpanned after remembering how Luca was keen on seeing the action but couldn’t be bothered to check if his fragile body was holding up.
His skin was soft, and now it’s gotten like this.
“Can you tell me how bad it is?” Luca asked so that he could determine which restorative pill he should take to get rid of this.
Xavier nodded and moved closer, his fingers hooking the edge of his uniform’s collar to the side for better access.
Now, while these two were playing doctor in the middle of the cafeteria, the others were seeing a different scene.
Who even superimposed such a filter on them? Or were all the students present that deranged?
In their eyes, the scene looked quite different. Luca, the little softie, mewled at Xavier, who was meticulously inspecting him.
The caress was careful and a little sensual, and several beings, including one green Princess, felt blood gushing from their noses.
In their eyes, flowers surrounded the two, who were so engrossed they didn’t care about the location.
What cafeteria? This was a love nest, as far as the Princess was concerned.
And when she finds her Bunbun, they must have a scene like this. Granted, how would she get a bruise like that? What kind of creature would she have to fight to leave something out for her beloved? Maybe a golem would do?
While some were fixated on their own love fantasies, a certain adjutant and supposed best friend was unsure of what to do next.
He was really sure it was bullshit, but what was he supposed to do with this? Who should he inform?
Would that family cast him to a different planet, or would Kyle just be left as food for the termites?
He was the one that started this, but how come the Captain was more into it than expected?
Kyle was not immune to the filter, but no one had a stronger filter than Ollie, who was now unsure whether he left his brother to a dragon or to an incubus!
The sides of Luca’s eyes were even watery now! But the sounds he was making, was this a predator or a brother-in-law?
Ollie felt like there were too many problems in the world when all he wanted was for them to enjoy the youthful spring of Academy life!
In his mind, he thought about bonding with Luca and then maybe finding a few cute girls, maybe twins, whom they could date for the ultimate young romance!
But how come his brother seemed to have leaped straight into this?!
Was this how extraordinary people have it? Luca was so good. He was now walking this road with such a guy!
Ollie considered re-evaluating his Academy plans and scratched the idea of looking for twin girls.
He doesn’t think Luca would like that route, especially after hearing his response to Xavier’s question.

“We should have this checked at the infirmary just to be sure. Do you want to go?” He couldn’t just undress Luca there, and he had a feeling that the bruise wasn’t just as small, considering how it continued past what he could touch.
Luca’s bruised skin was hot, and Xavier knew he’d feel the pain the next day, which wouldn’t be good for them.
While this wasn’t an open wound that modern medicine was good at fixing, there should be ways to definitely lessen the swelling.
Xavier was so hyper-focused on assessing Luca’s condition that he practically hunkered down to examine his chest and collarbone more closely. He hoped there was no bone damage and that this guy wasn’t just masking the pain with his smiling face.
But Luca seriously didn’t think it was such a big issue. To him, this was barely anything new. He just didn’t think anything of it earlier because he doesn’t usually go poking around his body, unlike Xavier, who kept on inspecting him.
So he replied to his question about the infirmary by saying, “No, I’m fine. I’d rest better in our room. It shouldn’t be too bad.”
It really wasn’t because a few Body rejuvenating pills would suffice. He just needed to make a few since he ran out of stock trying to deal with the Grandmaster.
However, the onlookers had different ideas. The way Luca’s response rang in their ears was definitely not how he said it.
It seems like there was even a voice filter installed in their minds.
And when Xavier acquiesced and responded with a nod while practically dragging Luca back into the dorm, the remaining crowd wasn’t sure how to recover.
From what they remembered, those two were supposed to be top students, right?
Were they so advanced in abilities that while normal people struggled to survive the training and constant assessments, two people were busy checking each other out in their dorms?
Was this how it was supposed to go? But then some students looked at each other and realized that even if these people were their dorm mates, it would definitely be impossible to fall in love. Not when they don’t look half as cute as the soft animal that was just hauled away by the white wolf!
When Xavier tugged on Luca, he realized he wasn’t as fast and wondered if he had other injuries.
Why, yes, he did. It was his pride.
Even when Luca desperately tried to catch up with Xavier’s pace, the length of his legs limited his physical abilities unless he planned on using his Spiritual Energy to catch up.
It looks like he will have to figure out ways to grow taller!
“Are you hurt anywhere else? Do you need to be carried?” Xavier turned around to ask, his face devoid of apparent emotions.
That would be embarrassing, but D-29 made sure to remind him that this was the walking CP generator.
Hmm.
Luca figured that his dignity could wait.
He needed more CP because he needed ways to safeguard his space from a few unhinged elders, and with the generator offering such a deal, there was certainly no loss in this, right?
Uh… wel,l maybe the prospects of ever getting a girlfriend. But he didn’t need to know that.
Luca nodded at Xavier’s offer and decided to extend his arms himself.
He needed contact and wouldn’t benefit from being carried like a sack of potatoes.
Xavier was taken aback but noticed how a few people by the hallway started to stare at them and figured that Luca was trying to keep up appearances.
Very well, then.
