Chapter 74: Thigh-hugger
Debris scattered around the Duke, who was emanating a powerful energy they hadn’t seen in a long time.
But while everyone was concerned about the deck’s collapse, the Duke wondered how it had come to this when he hadn’t even seen his son in person?!
How was it possible for him to be stolen like that just by attending school?!
Weren’t they supposed to be studying? But then he remembered his wife and wilted on the ground.
He really wanted to refute it, wanted to say that the video was a fabrication, the same way they initially fabricated his identity, but the look on his son’s face as he watched the livestream couldn’t be more damning than the video he just watched.
Luca beamed at the confused Xavier, who felt the pressure more than everyone else watching.
The Young Lord was excited because he felt this solution was far more straightforward than the bet, where he might even have to explain why he was asking for such a reward.
But this? Luca thought this was a genius move, and when Xavier took the solution to drink it, Luca was even closer, sticking like a caterpillar to a leaf.
Meanwhile, Ollie, the ever-supportive money machine, decided to browse the Star Net for gifts for people about to get married. He wanted to be the first one to give a gift and wanted to make sure it was perfect for his very cool brother. So it was fine if his gift was a hundred years in advance.
All he could do was sigh and respect his brother’s wishes as he watched the livestream again.
Xavier wondered why Luca was adamant about the nutrient solution when he felt the sudden change in his body. At first, he suspected the drink, but then Luca suddenly got closer, way too close, in fact, and was suddenly touching him again.
Was he doing that thing again?
By now, Xavier realized that Luca needed physical contact to do whatever that was that he kept on doing to him. And now he wondered if this change in his body was due to this, too. Especially since his touch perfectly coincided with the feeling he just got.
So, instead of pulling away or shoving him off, Xavier just drank the solution, thinking that Luca was using it as an excuse to stick to him.
Not that he’d need that when everyone and their dogs probably thought they were together.
Suddenly, Xavier felt mentally exhausted again and vowed to triple Kyle’s training routine. That little shit was going to pay with his life.
But he didn’t need to stop anything as Greg threw an empty pack of nutrient solution towards Luca, which he, of course, avoided.
Greg finally snapped after seeing how sticky Luca was being. In his eyes, this was how he kept on succeeding, stealing rightful honor and prestige from the people who really deserved it, like him. (of course)
“?”
Xavier cocked his head to the side, his jaw suddenly tightening in displeasure.
“Aren’t you disgusted with yourself? You weren’t satisfied with just using your family name, and now you’re even clinging to a top student just to pass?”
“Greg, are you describing yourself?” Jax wondered aloud, not understanding why the guy had revealed his inner thoughts to the world. Kyle always told him that an inside voice must remain inside one’s head, but why was Greg like this? Was his head too small to accommodate information?
“You! Don’t tell me you can’t see this leech taking advantage of your Captain?! Are you that dumb?!”
“Taking advantage? How many kills do you have, number 024?” Xavier asked, his body turning to face Greg. Luca eventually moved with Xavier’s posture change.
Greg couldn’t understand why this was relevant and how both these people were blind. He was doing this now because he wanted those watching the livestream to side with him, knowing that they must have seen by now how Luca cheated to get those kills.
Even when he witnessed them in person, Greg was blinded by the idea that Xavier just let him have the last hit.
But the delusional number 024 would never admit it and still insisted that his kills had been directly affected by Luca sabotaging him.
“Is that so? Then I’m sorry if I did something that inconvenienced you!” Luca gave a slight bow in apology, even though he had no idea what Greg was talking about.
All Luca could remember was handing over at least two enemies to Greg since he said he wanted them but had to intervene after Greg missed killing them the third time around.

Greg really wanted to unleash his abilities on Luca. This rich bastard was really testing his patience and wanted to be taught a lesson.
But then Xavier suddenly said, “Then we’ll go our separate ways. That way, you can save yourself the trouble.”
Jax didn’t need to ask to know what this meant. While he sucked at most things, he could read Xavier’s micro facial expressions better than most of the other soldiers. It was how he got by despite himself.
And the Captain was pissed.
So, Jax practically dragged the flabbergasted Greg out in the opposite direction.
On the other hand, Luca was surprised that Xavier would shoo away Jax like that. Never mind Greg, but what about his subordinate?
Xavier noticed Luca’s expression and figured he was concerned about Jax, who was nice to him.
“Jax can handle it. He better go, or he’ll fail instantly. Anyway, we should go too.”
Xavier dusted himself and waited for Luca before trudging towards another direction.
Opposite them, however, was Greg, who was now steaming in anger and had forgotten what it meant to be a soldier.
He stared into the abyss, his eyes glazing in anger, before remembering that there was another solution.
These people were so haughty they deserved to be taught a lesson. And he was the one who would take them down by several pegs.
Jax didn’t notice Greg busying himself with his terminal. He was instead focused on getting more points for himself now that they had split with the Captain.
Greg’s mind still retained a shadow of fear when it came to Xavier. And he knew he wouldn’t match up against such a guy. But he was still human, and as one, he would still fall when faced with a mob.
Ordinarily, he would call people like Noah and the rest, but he remembered how all of them kept silent about Luca after his association with Xavier. So, Greg had to change his plans.
As a member of a decent mining family who had the rights to mine around Planet Nova as a contractual partner, he was privy to rumors regarding this area.
In reality, this was partly why he was frustrated. He should be doing well because he had the advantage of knowing more information about the location.
And so he told them about the cave.
While he was concerned about the clues, the others wanted to go to the cave because other students were likely there.
But what Greg left out was the part where his family had to stop operations in that cave because something kept damaging the equipment. Every time the ore excavator was started, something would eventually steal the energy cube of their machine.
After replacing the expensive and rare energy cube twice, they decided it wasn’t worth continuing and vowed to return after getting it checked.
Greg figured he could invite a little assistance from whatever that was to deal with these two people.
So, he decided to remotely activate the last machine using his backdoor credentials as a defacto owner.
All he had to do was to confirm their location with Jax. With this, Greg cooperated while biding his time.
