Chapter 81: The Bigger Leech
It was a stand-off.
Well, an awkward one.
D-29 would not let go of Sid, as if the guardian mecha had somewhere else to run to. And as if the system could actually detain the mecha without a physical body or third-party interference.
“I keep telling you, I didn’t infiltrate anything! I’m just following the new orders! I just got an additional master!”
“What master?!” D-29 was not having it, and even Luca was surprised to see all the warning errors blaring in his mind.
“D-29, what’s happening?!” Luca was suddenly distracted and was informed about the mole.
“I keep on telling you! I’m not a mole! Not a rat, and definitely not a thief! It’s you guys! Weren’t you the ones that kidnapped us after knocking out Master Xavier?!” The guardian mecha couldn’t understand why he was suddenly the evil one when he saw everything with his own eyes!
It was fine until Luca heard Sid talking about his life-saving crimes, which were still crimes nonetheless and threatened the poor mecha in his sea of consciousness.
“I… I saw nothing. I must’ve been too damaged!” Sid had to swallow his complaints in fear of this overwhelming spiritual energy.
“D-29, it seems like it is Xavier’s mecha. I’m not sure how or why it seems to have a consciousness, but maybe we can figure that out later.” Luca was really interested in Xavier’s mecha, but something more interesting was waiting for him outside of his space.
After realizing that it wasn’t anything that serious, Luca began the quest to replenish Xavier’s spiritual energy.
But Xavier had other issues. The questions were piling up. And now that he had gone through that ordeal of taking responsibility, his brain was starting to recover its function.
What was this entirely new place, the questionable amount of energy around him, how they even got here in the first place, and Luca’s familiarity with everything?
And really, Xavier had been meaning to ask but couldn’t because Luca had forced him to guzzle up liquid like he wanted him to undergo water torture.
At first, he was going to resist, but a drop alone convinced him that he should just shut up and follow. There’s always time to fix the hierarchy in this family, but with an arachnid waiting for them, it’d have to wait.
“Xavier, how good is your pain tolerance?” Luca asked, unsure of whether he should take this shortcut or just do it slowly but surely.
“Good. Why?”
“If I tell you that I have a way to improve your condition, but it might hurt a bit, what would you say?” Luca asked tentatively.
“A bit, you say?” Xavier cocked an eyebrow at him, and Luca really wasn’t sure because he directly passed out.
“Maybe, more than a bit?” Luca raised his fingers, trying to denote his version of ‘more than a bit.’
“I’ll try it.” This was rather unsafe and definitely unhinged, but that life contract made it easier for Xavier to decide.
Luca really had no malice when he said it. And at this point in time, Xavier was willing to act as the experimental subject for whatever the chipmunk wanted him to try.
If he had been honest, he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to decide had it not been for the shorty anyway. So, how bad could it be?
However, Luca didn’t want Xavier to do it without any preparation. The chipmunk’s solution was to bloat him with spiritual water before he attempted to use the dubious-looking pill Luca handed over.
But then it came time to use it, and instead of being calm as usual, Xavier couldn’t help but feel antsy because Luca suddenly looked unsure.
“Xavier, your earlier promise… that still stands, right?” Luca licked his lower lip, wanting to make sure to confirm with him, just in case.
Raising his hand, Xavier pointed at his ring finger before asking, “You mean this? If so, then yes.”
“Okay. Thank you. Then, if you’re ready, you can try taking the pill.”
Xavier really couldn’t understand Luca’s thought process. One moment, he could be so brazen, and then the next, he could barely look people in the eye.

But moments after he took the pill, he finally understood why Luca wanted certainty.
No wonder he couldn’t tell him—Because there was no way to survive after taking it.
Xavier passed out.
And Luca was hoping against all hope that he was just knocked out.
Sid couldn’t accept what he was seeing.
It hadn’t even been that long, and his master had been knocked out again! And it was even caused by the same person!
Meanwhile, the walking ticket to the hospital was back inside his manual mecha. Unlike Xavier’s mecha, the manual one managed to delay the destruction, as its lack of energy made it less interesting to the arachnid.
“Host, do you have a plan?” Asked D-29 who was ready for any possible commands.
“I kind of do. I just hope it’d work!”
Luca was determined to milk this corrupted ancient. In fact, had it been possible to catch and cage it, he would have done it already.
His only hesitation lies in the idea that if the other chickies were to get contaminated, then he would be running around with demon chickens who would indeed have it out for him for their accidental abandonment issues.
So, for now, Luca just had to make sure he could get as much CP as possible from this incident.
He started by using his inventory to suck up the ooze that had been covering the ground. Luca wasn’t sure about it, but it seemed like the suction was much faster than before, as if the amount of corruption suddenly tempted the Dungeon.
Finally, when Luca used a detector to look for more contaminated areas, it seemed that the contamination was now concentrated on the cocoon and the arachnid itself.
Hopefully, this works! Luca prayed, hoping that reverse leeching would work against this spider.
His idea was to imitate the way the cocoon tried draining them off and then sending it over directly to the ancient.
The plan was bold and risky, but who asked this spider to be trapped with him?
Now, while a diligent human suction was facing the enemy like this, the people outside started the evacuation as well as the deployment of fully manual mechas.
They could have gone much faster, but traveling took time because they had to rely on ancient technology to get there without using spiritual energy.
One such ansty person was Ollie, who gained the trust of the duchy’s people by handing over his manual weapons arsenal.
These were the fruits of his outing with Luca, and it was only right that they be used to help rescue his brother.
Ollie was glad he took that class seriously. He continued pacing around and wearing out the souls of his boots as they traveled via a blimp.
The speed was going to kill Ollie before the spider could even take a jab at him, but then again, he would’ve probably died of a heart attack if he got there earlier.
Right on time, the ancient spider discovered Luca’s farming method.
Luca was greeted by a sharp claw that suddenly punctured what was supposed to be a very sturdy mecha cockpit.
It seemed like his time wasn’t soon, as Luca managed to evade because of his unsavory posture.
A part of his hair had been chopped the moment the claw jabbed straight for him, and Luca could only scream at how much the hole would cost for repairs!
