Chapter 87: Interstellar Finance
Ollie tried his best not to look too constipated. Technically, Luca’s strategy would have been acceptable if he had compared the same products.
The catch was that products like his would never see the light of day. Never would such items get to the Star Mall of all places.
Mercenary Guilds were usually sent out to unchartered planets to look for such items. While those that powerful families had kept were rarely sold, when they were, it’d be via an auction.
50,000 Star coins a piece. That should’ve been the base price. Even now, that was the base price for those with almost negligible spiritual essence.
But what Luca was selling at his online store was something that had never been seen before.
Others would argue that he was just making this up, but he was a Mylor. He sure as hell sucked at everything else, but not with this! His family owned several auction houses, and Ollie knew just how vast the quality gap was.
He even ate a few because Luca insisted he stuff himself with the fruits! Now, he wanted to regurgitate them!
Maybe it’s not too late?
Ollie decided to come clean and started telling Luca about the real deal.
Luca sat there, motionless.
He wasn’t moving, and his breathing was slow, which somehow worried the two other guys.
At first, they wanted to tell him so that he would understand why his method wasn’t as low-key as he thought. But then they figured he needed to know how to sell such items correctly.
“Host, it seems like we lost a minimum of 44 million Star coins just on the apples.” D-29 whispered it. It was around that number if they sold it at the base price and after the fees.
D-29 could calculate the amount based on what the other two people said, but it could tell that its Host would not benefit from hearing the amount.
And D-29 used its IQ well.
Luca felt like he was going to have a fever.
And what used to be stable breathing began to deepen.
Then his eyes stung.
Usually, he would feel like he was on the verge of tears every time he was frustrated. But that was it, just on the verge.
His face would redden, and his eyes would be agitated. But this time, Luca had fat dollops of tears falling from his eyes.
The chipmunk was silent, but Xavier suddenly noticed his shoulders drooping and his eyes watering—practically gushing.
Ollie was so surprised he suddenly rushed to Luca.
“What’s wrong?! Are you hurt or something?” Ollie touched Luca’s face only to find that he was practically burning up.
This alarmed Xavier, who went over to pick Luca up.
Luca felt the coolness of Xavier’s skin as the resident coolant and nestled himself in his arms while still lamenting his life.
While he usually felt like crying, he never actually shed the tears, realizing that doing so would be pointless. But the little money grubber’s heart couldn’t handle the discovery.
Even if he looked, he wouldn’t have gotten access to the auction prices or known just how much the items were. And even if he searched, he wouldn’t see the statistics because his apples wouldn’t have any direct comparison.
But because he had the mindset of the poor, he thought the Star Mall apples were expensive enough! And who would’ve known that even those famed plants the gardener was talking about wouldn’t even match the potency of a grass blade from his space?
Luca was heartbroken.

He had a 60 million debt that shouldn’t have been a problem had he known. But he was not alone in this. D-29, who could only access information that it could connect to, had no idea about such auctions. Luca’s terminal only had generic access.
The little system was unreconciled. He vowed to connect to the school database and even better systems! This was unacceptable! If even that large mole could move around, why would D-29 be content with disappointing his Host?
*Hiccup!*
Xavier had no idea what to do. He just held Luca the same way his sister held her stuffed animals.
It was understandable to regret such a loss.
But it didn’t make sense that someone known for his spending would react like this to something that cost around an ornamental mecha.
So he asked.
“Luca, were you saving up for something?”
The chipmunk, who was now leaning against his chest, nodded as he hiccuped.
“What were you planning on buying? I can buy it for you!” Ollie readily offered. It didn’t really matter what it was because it couldn’t be that bad. It’s just that his brother was really pitiful.
Luca couldn’t say it was because he ended up in debt when he used the allowance the duchy gave him.
Because why would he be indebted to his own House?
“I was trying to live independently but borrowed money to start.” He lied. And now he felt even worse, causing the tears to fall more.
Xavier used his thumb to wipe away the chipmunk’s tears. He’s never seen anyone have such a reaction. Even the ancient spider didn’t cause Luca to end up like this.
The shorty must’ve really liked to earn his own keep.
Xavier closed his eyes and breathed deeply, deciding on a solution.
You know what? Fuck it.
He messaged Kyle, something that he should’ve probably done earlier.
“Link my actual accounts to this terminal asap.”
On the other end, Kyle received just that message and thought the worst. Xavier, this Prince, had never been capricious enough, even leaving out access to his personal funds when he opted to use a different terminal for this identity.
And now he randomly sends a message asking to connect it?
Kidnapped—definitely kidnapped!
The kidnappers were probably asking for ransom!
Kyle tried calling his Captain repeatedly, but the call kept being rejected. He only received a vague response when he dared to ask why he wanted his accounts linked.
“Just link my terminal to my actual account. I have mouths to feed.” Xavier thought as he looked at the crumpled Luca.
Kyle eventually followed the directive, and Xavier immediately transferred 100 million Star coins to the chipmunk.
Xavier glanced at the successful transfer notice before brushing away the strands of Luca’s now uneven hair.
Luca then received the notice from his terminal and was shocked to see the amount.
100 million?! From Xavier?!
“Did you make a mistake? Why did you send 100 million?” Luca’s eyes watered again. He didn’t even like mentioning the word ‘million’ after losing so many of them.
“It’s to properly pay for what we bought from you.” It was true. The military bought many of Luca’s products and was responsible for his most significant loss.
And technically, he was responsible for this one now and had to make sure he wouldn’t want for something so trivial such as money.
If there was one thing Xavier could easily give, it would be work and money. And if he was going to suck at the other aspects, he might as well provide the best where he can.
“You bought from me?” Luca asked, knowing how impossible it was for his purchases to amount to 100 million.
“But this is too much? It’s not like you bought everything?” He looked up to Xavier with his big golden eyes and flushed face.
Xavier figured that Luca, who wanted to be independent, wouldn’t just accept charity, so he thought of a better way.
“It’s not even enough for the healing services. You ought to bill me that.”
Luca’s back straightened, and his face was suddenly front and center.
“You mean you’ll pay me for healing you?”
Luca wasn’t sure, but after the initial shock of receiving 100 million in his account and then being told that it was payment for his services, Luca’s vision suddenly improved.
Next to these two people was Ollie, who had just witnessed the greatest scam of all.
Just how many financial literacy classes would his naive brother need? And was it okay to leave him with this giant wolf who knew how to deal with Luca?
Ollie felt he needed answers to so many questions, but if he had known what was happening outside, he would have realized how trivial his issue was.
Kyle had every reason to suspect someone of kidnapping. And he vowed to get to the bottom of it. He just had to find that blasted Ollie Mylor!
