Chapter 95: Massive Changes
Feedback arrived quickly. While they were hoping to auction food, they knew they’d have to set a precedent.
What better way to do it than to offer it in limited quantities, enough for people to verify that such heaven exists?
And exist, it did.
Luca and his small gaggle of free laborers were just a little too successful in this release.
While the people found the new fruits revolutionary and surely life-saving, the food was a new entity that invited a whole new set of fans.
This was good for the vendor and his team, but while some were feeling celebratory, a certain Deputy wanted to set fire to several people’s hair after their crazy antics.
Yesterday was a test for everyone in the Military. It was a test of friendship and patience. The soldiers were definitely well-meaning and only shared because they were thrilled and hopeful. But the idiots decided to tell everyone and their birds about the benefits of these spiritual fruits.
And really, they weren’t planning on withholding the information. It was just that it would be different once the fruit’s positive effects on those dealing with corruption were confirmed.
As they have confirmed through testing and observations, the fruits really gave the body the greatest chance of defending against corruption. While it doesn’t eliminate the issue, it allows the person to return to a stable state fit for societal integration. Knowing this, they planned ways to buy as a group, prioritizing the ones who needed it as soon as possible.
However, with such a strong brotherhood and sisterhood, the soldiers could not keep it a secret from their friends in different Field Armies.
It was carnage.
Now, everyone was trying to locate it, and their plans to arrange the purchases in order of need had been thwarted.
Not to mention, Eden, who typically never left her den, kept strutting over with her bowl of egg-fried rice as if she were God’s gift to mankind.
Curtis was going crazy. Between the incessant ringing of his terminal and the insane aroma of the food paraded by Eden, he didn’t know who he needed to fight to vent.
But just when he was about to have a complete meltdown, the Crown Prince sent over a message asking for an emergency meeting.
Thankfully, Xavier only called forth the people of the Marshal. Curtis was still at a loss as to how to deal with all the other officers who wanted in on the fruit allocation.
“Prepare a list of ailing soldiers according to the severity of their cases.” Xavier did away with all the pleasantries and immediately addressed the issue.
On the way here, he heard the commotion about all the different branches finally learning about the effects of the fruits.
They didn’t like this turnaround, as it might put Luca under an unnecessary spotlight.
Not everyone was as respectful of boundaries, and they vowed to keep this a secret for as long as possible.
“Xavier, is there a reason you need this list?” Asked the Marshal.
“Yes, we managed to get around 500 fruit cups and would like to allocate it as soon as possible.”
The room seemed quiet, but even the humming of the appliances couldn’t hide everyone’s surprise.
“Did you just say you got 500 fruit cups, Your Highness?” Curtis verified, wondering if madness had really caught up to him.
“Yes. We figured we could try a different approach when we couldn’t find the vendor. We sent over a simple proposal with a manageable quantity and hoped to get a response.”
“And as the others did, we received the shipment this morning.” They actually had to stage this. Because they were aware that Eden was keen on monitoring the Academy, especially after Xavier didn’t contact them immediately.
“You mean the seller actually agreed?” verified the Marshal.
Xavier nodded and produced the goods from his space.
Jax sighed as he looked at all the items they had packed last night. He was sad that he couldn’t have one but was also pleased because this would help someone deal with their energy issues.

There was no denying their success with all the items laid before the officers. And before the others could start asking questions he couldn’t answer, Xavier decided to speak first.
“We will try to create a better working relationship, so it would be better to stop snooping while we’re asking for cooperation.”
“Your Highness, do you think it would be possible to buy more?” Asked one of the doctors.
“We’re not sure yet, but we all know how rare these goods are and that there might be a quantity issue. So, while we cannot guarantee a steady supply, we must make sure to allocate these properly.”
Xavier couldn’t answer their question because even he had no idea how Luca’s space operated. Was it back stocks? And for how long would they be able to sustain such sales?
The Marshal noticed that, for the first time in years, Xavier looked like he wanted to bolt out of the headquarters.
It was a spot-on observation because Xavier did not want to be caught by the doctors who would likely discover the massive change in his body.
And if the fruits nearly made them weep, Xavier might never be able to leave once they discover the change.
What was he supposed to do with his little chipmunk, who was probably busy with tending to the giant cow-like chickens?
Even these two dolts don’t know about his health improving drastically. He didn’t just get marginally better. He was practically cured.
In this case, there would be no way for Xavier to deny Luca’s involvement in fixing his corrupted state. And that would severely endanger the little chipmunk. It was a battle between obligations, and for once, he felt burdened by the crown.
Who even asked to be responsible for an entire Empire?
He sighed as he left the headquarters, hoping that the fruit vendor who was left at home was staying low and not getting into anything that he couldn’t handle.
Luckily, Luca was trying to do that for the most part.
While everyone was away, he figured he would take the time to settle the Dungeon upgrade.
He wasn’t sure how these people would react to his using corruption as currency, so he planned to take his time before divulging things.
D-29 was happy to hear that the Host wanted to upgrade; that meant more abilities and remarkable contributions to the Host!
It didn’t take long to reach 100,000CP, especially since Luca didn’t have to manually remove body parts while recycling goo.
Honestly, he found that to be the most convenient item for CP-making.
Luca wanted to immortalize the 179,100CP he had on him before he was again poor. But so far, upgrades really helped him improve his life. So, with a heavy yet excited heart, Luca initiated the upgrade protocol.
[INITIALIZING: DUNGEON UPGRADE TO LEVEL 2…]

The prompts came one after the other, and Luca was just shocked to feel the ground tremors as he watched the string of lines.
[DUNGEON UPGRADE COMPLETE]
When Luca went above ground, he was shocked to discover the changes in his space. No wonder he felt the ground quake.
The change was so evident that he couldn’t even find where his lake was?!
