The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 112
Chapter 112: The Gluttonous Monarch
“Reid!” Lisa screamed seeing him crash into the barrier again.
From the way he lay unmoving on the ground showed that he was unconscious and the only thing that stood between him and the creature was his three standing forged beasts.
“How long till your beast gets this barrier down?” Commander Ajax asked.
Rusty, Nyx and Atlas were locked in a battle with the creature while Beel and Reid were knocked out.
“The disc’s a bit complicated so it’ll take a while for my slime to gain total control over it” Ethan answered.
“Wait, doesn’t it have a skill to sever the bond between the tamer and their forged beast?” Marcus asked. They had all seen the stats displayed on the metal case so it was obvious that they knew what each of their forged beasts did.
“I’ve tried it already, it didn’t work” he said. As soon as his slime entered the forcefield, severing the bond between Darren and the creature was the first thing he tried but it completely failed.
“Then we need to speed this up,” Damien said. His fists were clenched as he watched the battle inside the forcefield. “If that thing finishes off Reid’s beasts, he’s dead.”
“Nyx, Atlas and Rusty can only hold out for so long,” Lisa muttered, fingers twitching as she fought the urge to slam her fists into the barrier. “Especially since they seem to be holding back.”
________
Inside the barrier, Rusty, Nyx and Atlas were holding their own against the creature but they hadn’t landed a lethal attack since they didn’t want to kill Darren.
The abilities of the three forged beasts had been rendered nil by the creature since it constantly adapted to their skills.
Even Rusty’s rewind couldn’t send it back to before it evolved because the creature had adapted to the effects of time.
Nyx’s domain would be useless since the creature relied on its tendrils to attack without using any energy based attacks.
Due to this, the others outside the barrier knew that it was only a matter of time before the creature overwhelmed the three forged beasts.
Rusty disappeared disappeared using skip, appearing behind the creature, slashing at it with its claws, and before the creature could turn to face it, a rock traveling at high speeds suddenly appeared in front of it, slamming into the creature sending it flying backwards.
Nyx and Atlas were the ones who made the attack. Not giving it a chance to recover, another rock pinned it to the arena floor as Atlas increased the gravity on the rocks to trap it underneath.
The attack seemed to trap it for a while, before the creatures tendrils lashed out, completely destroying the high gravity rocks.
“Smart of you to use the environment to your advantage” it praised as it slowly stood up “but it’s all useless”
Its body visible started healing as the wounds closed and its broken feet, due to the high gravity rocks, also snapped in place.
“But without that annoying fly,” it paused, look at the location where Beel and Reid landed “all your attacks will be useless”.
It slowly and menacing walked towards them when suddenly,
Everything seemed to have stopped.
The very air suddenly started to constrict, becoming heavy and suffocating. The battlefield fell silent. Even the creature hesitated, its yellow irises shrunk as it felt the aura that suddenly filled the entire arena.
“What the hell?” Even the newly arrived senior officers that were around, felt the suffocating aura.
Owen sat on one of the elevated observation platforms looking at the ongoing battle with sleepy eyes.
He had just woken up and heard of Reid’s duel with a random cadet and he had arrived when the forcefield had been deployed.
Seeing that Commander Ajax couldn’t destroy it in a single punch, then he knew no one else in the military who could.
So he just sat and observed the fight. At the start, Reid seemed to be holding back a lot more than when they fought. Until he was knocked out by the creature.
He was almost disappointed but that’s when he felt it—the sheer, suffocating pressure that now drowned the arena. It was unlike anything he had sensed from the kid before before.

Owen yawned, rubbing his eyes as he watched the situation unfold “Well… this just got interesting.”
Slowly, Reid’s body rose from the crater he was in, his entire demeanor had completely changed.
His movements weren’t sluggish like someone just regaining consciousness—they were weirdly smooth.
His posture was relaxed, his hands hanging loosely at his sides, but even the creature knew that he was undeniably more dangerous now.
Then, his eyes opened.
The normal blue weren’t there anymore.
Instead, burning crimson.
The creature’s yellow eyes met Reid’s red ones and it instantly froze in fear. They weren’t in the arena anymore and instead, they were in a field of red, surrounded by corpses of both primals and humans.
A lot more than possible for someone of Reid’s age. Amongst all this stood Reid, his glowing red eyes still locked on the creature.
A slow grin stretched across his face, it was a grin that sent chills down the spine of anyone that saw it.
“Screw holding back” he slowly spoke “I’m gonna make you regret having an ability to adapt.”
The creature would have laughed off his words if not for the terrifying aura being released by him combined with what he just witnessed.
The creature tried to move—tried—but found itself frozen. It looked down to see it’s legs trembling, with sweat dripping down its back. It felt an emotion it has only ever felt twice since it was created.
Fear.
It had only felt this emotion when facing its father and when Beel tried to eat it, and now it was feeling the same while looking at Reid.
Reid exhaled, slowly “I was going to hold back… you know, make sure Darren wasn’t killed in the process.” He tilted his head, a twisted grin forming. “But you just had to make me mad.”
“W-what the hell are you!?” It shouted out. Its layered voice coming out as multiple screams.
“You’re being loud.” Red eyed Reid said ” And I hate loud things.”
His red eyes locked into the unconscious Beel that lay by his side.
“Wake up, buddy,” he said, his voice a low, commanding whisper. “Dinner’s not over yet.”
As if responding to his words, Beel’s body twitched and slowly, it rose from the arena floor and floated by Reid’s side.
For the first time since he gained the skill, Reid used [Synergize] to merge with Beel.
As the skill activated, a dark vortex swirled around Reid and Beel, pulling them together. A wave of energy washed through the arena as the fusion between Reid and his forged beast continue.
“T-that shouldn’t be possible” The creature screamed “YOU WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO MERGE WITH YOUR FORGED BEASTS.”
The panic on its face was evident. Of course it has heard of the first human that had merged completely with their forged beast from its father, but that was only supposed to be one human.
It never thought Reid could do the same.
Outside the barrier, Commander Ajax team 7, Damien and Dean felt the wave of power from the merging between Reid and Beel.
Some of the weaker officers and cadets around were forced to their knees.
“What’s…What’s going on?” Dean stuttered out, he was barely keeping his head up.
Marcus, who had managed to remain standing, looked toward their commander and also asked “Commander, do you know what this is?”
The commander didn’t immediately reply. He carefully observed the vortex before he slowly let out a breath and asked.
“According to what that thing said,” he took a small pause “it seems that Reid is merging with his beast.”
“Merging?” Clara said in surprise “shouldn’t that only be possible when you’re a platinum rank tamer?”
“We’ve only seen a merge happen just once before, so we’re not sure of the details ” Owen who was approaching them answered on the commander’s behalf “let’s just wait and see what happens.”
The group turned to see that his usual sleepy eyes were now sharp and clear.
Back inside the barrier, the vortex continued growing untill it suddenly receded forming the shape of an extremely tall humanoid creature.
The black aura that covered Reid and Beel dissipated to reveal someone totally different.
In Reid and Beel’s place stood a tall humanoid creature that had what seemed like a black armor on. On its back were multiple pairs of translucent, insect-like wings that constantly buzzed, exuding an waves of dark eerie energy.
It’s head had what looked like a knight’s helmet but with the red glowing eyes of a fly. Its fingers resembled that of claws and finally, it towered the creature in Darren’s body by a couple of feet.
Reid, who was currently merged with Beel felt power like never before. He felt that even the simple action of clenching his fist would be disastrous if not controlled.
But more than power, Reid felt hunger. An ever growing hunger that made him feel like consuming everything in his path.
At the same time, Evo’s notification popped up.
