The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 130
Chapter 130: A Cockroach
“YOU TWO WILL DIE SCREAMING,” the creature screeched, its distorted voice dripping with rage and malice.
“You just won’t stay down, will you?” Lisa muttered, tightening her grip on her sword.
The creature had completely lost any semblance of humanity. Its body was now a grotesque fusion of multiple primals, each one struggling as if trying to break free from the twisted amalgamation.
“That’s new” Ethan said in the same dry tone.
“And disgusting” Lisa added.
Without another word, she urged her wyvern forward, closing the distance in a flash. The creature responded instantly, slashing its arm toward her.
Lisa’s wyvern immediately twisted to the side, barely avoiding the strike. She retaliated with a downward slash of her sword, aiming for its exposed torso.
But the blade met resistance and black tendrils started coiling around it mid-swing.
“Damn it,” she hissed.
The tendrils yanked her forward, attempting to drag her off her wyvern, but Lisa reacted fast. With a command, her salamander let out a plasma breath on the tendrils, cleanly cutting them off.
Ethan quickly took the opening and activated [Nanite Swarm]. His cyber slime released multiple smaller slimes, each the size of a pebble.
The smaller slimes headed for the creature, completely latching on and burrowing into its black, tar-like body.
The creature let out a pained scream as the nanite slimes started eating its flesh.
In retaliation, the creature started letting out what looked like steam and the nanite slimes started falling out one after the other, completely melted.
This steam was its corrosive acid at work, and it chose to overload its body with it just to deal with the nanites.
Since it was distracted, Lisa took the opportunity and her wyvern summoned bolts of lightning where the creature was.
The sky immediately turned dark as a massive bolt of lightning descended onto the creature.
Boom!
The moment the lightning struck, a deafening boom echoed through the battlefield.
The impact sent a blinding flash through the air, followed by an explosive shockwave. The creature convulsed violently, it was desperately trying to hold its form together but it was all in vain.
For a brief moment, both Ethan and Lisa thought it was over as they watched the charred corpse of the creature falling back down into the forest.
But the charred corpse suddenly started twitching. Cracks started appearing on the surface, and like a chick hatching from an egg, the creature reemerged from its own corpse.
Its abominable form was now completely gone, replace by a stable one. It now looked like a complete primal, except for the energy it released.
Unlike the normal suppressing aura from primals, its aura felt a lot worse and a lot more repulsive.
Its skin was now completely obsidian and its eyes still maintained their sickly yellow. Its expression once filled with rage now held nothing but coldness.
“You’ve got to be kidding me” Lisa let out, in an annoyed tone. The creature just didn’t want to stay dead and it was pissing her off.
“It forced its evolution using its own death, that’s new” Ethan commented.
Apart from the Phoenix, no other creature capable of doing what that creature just did so it came as a surprise.
Before he could finish his thoughts, the creature moved. This time it was a lot faster than before, aiming directly for Ethan.
Barely activating [Ghost Protocol] in time, the creature’s claws passed right through the now intangible Ethan.

Lisa’s wyvern sent a blast of lightning at the creature again but it hit nothing but the forest floor. The creature had already moved out of the attack’s path.
Lisa quickly raised her sword to block the fast approaching tail of the creature. The force of the attack sent her flying off the wyvern’s back.
The creature moved in again to finish her off but Ethan would let it. With his slime in its gauntlet like form again, he sent another blast at the creature, forcing it to dodge.
Lisa’s wyvern quickly caught her before she reached the ground, and they blasted back into the fight.
As soon as they got close enough, Lisa allowed her forged beast to propel her forward, aiming for the creature.
She infused her sword with as much soul power as possible before delivering a downward slash at it.
The creature twisted its body, moving out of the attack’s path, but not completely.
A deep gash appeared on its torso where Lisa’s sword grazed, causing it to shriek in pain.
Lisa’s salamander launched a stream of plasma at it, forcing the creature to cocoon itself within its wings, which also gave Lisa the chance to back away.
The creature came out of its wing cocoon, with not a single burn or scratch, save for the one previously made by Lisa’s sword.
For some reason, the wound wasn’t healing. This was strange because of the healing capabilities it had previously shown.
Ethan analyzed the creature with narrowed eyes and noted “It’s adapting to our attacks. If we don’t finish it fast, we might not be able to at all.”
“And how do we finish it off?” Lisa asked.
“I think with every adaptation it does, it loses another” Ethan brought her attention to the wound on the creature’s torso “it looks like it lost its healing to adapt to your attacks, so we’ll use that to our advantage.”
Lisa nodded and gripped her sword tighter, ready to unleash another attack on the creature.
Not wasting a moment, her wyvern flew towards the creature who was also flying towards them.
As soon as they got close enough, she jumped off and her salamander immediately activated [Ion Burst], propelling then towards the approaching creature.
The skill left a trail of flames behind them and soon enough, they were up on the creature.
Lisa raised her soul power infused sword high into the air and using the momentum gained from the skill, she slashed at the creature.
The creature quickly used both arms to block the sword, but it easily passed through, severing its arm and causing it to screech in pain.
Ethan and his slime did a follow up attack. In the form of a hand canon, the slime released a blast of electromagnetic at the creature.
The attack connected and caused the creature to freeze up and start plummetting quickly towards the ground.
The skill Ethan’s slime had used was [Pulse Shock] which interfered with the creature’s nervous system, completely shutting it down.
“It’s now or never, Lisa” he urged.
He didn’t know how long it would take the creature to recover and inevitably adapt to all their attacks so Lisa had to take it down now or they were screwed.
“I’m on it,” She answered.
Holding her salamander forward, the creature opened its mouth and waves of heat started gathering inside.
The space rippled as the heat waves got stronger and stronger, before the creature activated a skill.
[Starflare Burst]
The sky was illuminated in a violent burst of energy as a sphere of blinding plasma condensed in front of Lisa’s salamander’s mouth.
The air trembled from the sheer intensity of the heat, causing the nearby trees to ignite even before the attack was unleashed.
Ethan shielded his eyes as Lisa gave the command.
“FIRE!”
A massive beam of superheated plasma shot downward, locking onto the plummeting creature. The beam moved through the sky like a falling star, quickly crashing into its target with explosive force.
The moment of impact was deafening. A pillar of blinding white-hot plasma engulfed the creature, incinerating everything in its path.
The heatwave burnt the surrounding forest, sending embers and debris flying in all directions.
The sheer force of the explosion sent Lisa and her wyvern backward, though they managed to stabilize in mid-air.
Ethan’s cyber slime shifted into a protective barrier, shielding him from the aftershock and heat.
The surrounding where the creature landed were completely cleared of trees as the attack burnt them to the ground.
Even the ground where the creature landed was melted into a huge burning crater and molten earth.
Lisa watched with crossed fingers, hoping that the attack was enough to end the creature.
They waited for a couple of minutes before the smoke cleared up, revealing the results of the attack.
Not a single piece of the creature remained, as there was only molten rock in the crater.
Lisa sighed in relief as she slowly descended to the ground.
The strain of overusing her soul power was starting to surface and she doubted that she could get her forged beast to release an attack of that scale again.
She and her wyvern slowly descended towards Ethan who was also observing the results of the attack.
“That should do it right?” She asked, hopping off the wyvern’s back.
“I think so,” he answered “I’d be surprised if anything can survive that attack.”
Lisa took a deep breath and finally allowed herself to relax. The creature had been like a cockroach but it was finally dead now.
Her wyvern returned to its smaller form and she returned both forged beasts to her inventory to rest.
“Now then, let’s go find the others,” Lisa said, rolling her shoulders. “They might be having trouble of their own.”
