Chapter 142: Attacking The Nest 4: The Monarch Of Void.
‘This is the single most stupid decision you’ve ever made’ Reid reprimanded himself as [Synchronize] took effect.
But he had no other option, he couldn’t let the Voidspawn adapt to more of his forged beasts’ abilities so he did what the situation called for.
Like the previous two times, his transformation came with waves of power filling him and this time,
The space around him trembled, with multiple cracks appeared around him as if a mirror.
The Voidspawn stood there, watching the spectacle with intrigue, it wanted to see the results of whatever transformation Reid was going through, a decision it would soon come to regret.
The shimmering dark light that covered Reid, when synchronize started, suddenly faded and revealed the results of the skill.
Like the previous two times, Reid was covered in armor, but unlike when he merged with Rusty, the armor was black.
His eyes held swirling purple vortexes instead of his irises.
In his hand, he held a sword radiating a deep purple glow—no, it wasn’t just glowing. It was brimming with an energy the Voidspawn recognized instantly.
After all, the same energy coursed through its own veins.
Void energy.
Reid raised his gauntlet hand to eye level as he carefully observed it phasing into and out of existence, before he willed it to stabilize.
“Huh.” His voice carried a layered, almost whispering undertone, as if multiple voices spoke in sync. “Feels… different.”
The Voidspawn’s wariness deepened, but it still smirked. “Interesting. But does it—”
It never got to finish because the next moment, Reid vanished.
The Voidspawn barely had a moment to process before—
SHNK.
A searing pain tore through its side. It staggered, its yellow eyes widening in shock.
Reid reappeared behind it, his blade dripping with the Voidspawn’s own black, viscous blood.
“Too slow,” Reid murmured in a mocking tone.
The Voidspawn gritted its teeth and lunged, claws coated in void energy slashing toward him.
But just as they were about to connect, Reid had already vanished,
The claws swiped through empty space, leaving behind only a brief distortion.
Just like his previous attack, the voidspawn didn’t even see this one coming before,
BOOM!
A force like never before struck the Voidspawn square in the chest, sending it hurtling backward. It smashed into the cavern wall, cracks spiderwebbing from the impact.
It gasped, struggling to rise, only to find its body partially phasing in and out of reality, just like Reid’s hand had moments ago.
“What… did you do?” It growled, trying to stabilize itself.
Reid stood there, looking at the voidspawn’s flickering form. He tilted his head slightly.
“Just a little experiment.”

He raised his sword, and the void energy around it surged. The space around the sword seemed to tremble with every movement.
“Shall we continue?”
The Voidspawn gritted its teeth as it struggled back to its feet. At this point, the flickering had stopped thanks to whatever pitiful amount of void energy it possessed.
“Don’t think you’ve won just because you’ve gained a fancy power-up,” the Voidspawn growled, spite lacing its words. “In the end, you’re still just a pitiful human.”
“Oh, but I already have,” Reid said, chuckling in response “allow me to demonstrate.”
The Voidspawn-possessed officer’s instincts screamed in warning, prompting it to jump back—but it was too late.
A sudden, chilling emptiness spread through its body. When it glanced to its left, its eyes widened in shock.
Its left arm was simply… gone. Not severed, not bleeding… just erased, as if it had never existed.
“You see,” Reid’s terrifying voice came “I can end you whenever I feel like it.”
The Voidspawn attempted to regenerate its missing arm, but no matter how much it tried, nothing happened. Panic set in, quickly replaced by pure fear.
‘What the hell is he?’ it couldn’t help but ask. From all the knowledge from its hosts, no human was capable of doing what Reid had done in the few minutes that they had met.
“Are you even human?” it demanded, voice trembling with disbelief.
“As far as I know,” Reid replied, his tone casual, “now, onto what I wanted to say.”
“Nyx’s abilities aren’t actually what I thought they were,” he started monologuing “I thought it could only control space and nullify energy but—”
The Voidspawn barely processed Reid’s words, its mind reeling from the horrifying realization, its missing arm wasn’t regenerating because it no longer existed in any sense.
And the worst part? Reid was talking as if this was nothing more than a minor discovery.
“As I was saying,” Reid continued, casually twirling his sword as if this was a mere lecture, “I always assumed Nyx’s abilities were purely spatial. You know—teleportation, spatial collapse, all that fun stuff. But then it hit me… it’s called a Void Moth, not a Space Moth.”
He gestured toward the air, and a ripple of distortion spread outward, swallowing a chunk of the cavern wall behind him. In an instant, that portion of reality simply ceased to be.
“It wasn’t only capable of manipulating space,” he mused, watching the Voidspawn’s horrified expression. “It was capable of erasing it, consuming it and Returning it to nothingness.”
The Voidspawn’s breath came out ragged. It took a slow, cautious step back.
Reid’s swirling violet eyes locked onto it, and he gave a small, amused tilt of his head. “So tell me… how does it feel? To realize you’re not the predator in this fight?”
The Voidspawn snarled, but it was forced, an attempt to mask its fear. “You think you can threaten me?”
Reid simply raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
And with that snap, the Voidspawn’s right arm also disappeared before the creature’s mind even had time to register.
“Ahhhhhhh!” The void spawn howled. Reid made the pain of losing his other arm a lot worse than the previous one.
For some reason, Reid wanted to completely demonstrate just how hopeless the Voidspawn was in this fight.
He could have ended it already. With a single thought he could erase it from existence. But it didn’t want to.
Unfortunately for him and fortunately for the poor Voidspawn, Evo came to its ‘rescue’.
[You have only thirty seconds in this form] Evo informed, snapping Reid out of his power high.
“I guess we’ll have to cut this short,” Reid sighed, almost disappointed.
“You…” it rasped, barely able to form words. “You’re a monster.”
“Takes one to know one.” Was his answer.
With that, Reid slightly bent his knees before launching himself forward.
Before the Voidspawn could let out another sound, Reid’s sword passed right through its head.
Instead of the head rolling to the floor, the void energy from the sword latched on its body, setting it on fire.
Once the purple flames died down, the Voidspawn was no more, it was completely erased from existence.
Evo’s urging voice suddenly came [Quick, you have to move to safety before —].
Before she could complete her words, Reid fell to the floor face first, completely exhausted and drained of any bit of soul power he had before the fight.
[Damn it] Evo cursed.
