The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 151
Chapter 151: Day Off: A Visitor [1]
Reid was torn out of sleep by the blaring sounds of the military sirens.
His eyes snapped open, only to be met with red pulsing light inside his dorm. His forged beasts, that had been let out the previous night were all gathered close to him, wondering what was going on.
The answer soon came when the a voice came through the intercoms,
{All active units, report to designated defense positions immediately. This is not a drill. Repeat: this is not a drill. An unidentified flaming object is approaching the base at high speeds. Estimated contact: three minutes.}
Reid’s watch let out a beep and a map popped up, a certain location highlighted which he assumed was the defense position.
“I guess there goes our week off,” he muttered, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as the sirens continued to scream.
“Alright, alright,” Reid said, getting to his feet and slipping into his combat suit with ease. “Let’s go see what all the fuss is about.”
For once, he was hoping to sleep in but the world just wouldn’t let him.
“Let’s go,” he told his forged beasts and they immediately returned to his inventory, well, except Rusty and Beel.
They perched on his head and since they were both in their smaller forms, they comfortably nestled there.
“Let’s goo”Beel let out, in its childish and excited tone.
It had come to prefer this form since it looked closer to its papa, plus it could modify it to look exactly like a mini version of Reid.
“Squeak!” Rusty agreed causing Reid to sigh and walk out of his dorm room.
Outside his door, Lisa, Damien and Dean waited for him.
Damien and Lisa looked completely awake but Dean looked like he was barely keeping his eyes open.
“I hate this” he grumbled.
They had met the previous day after Reid and the others went to the canteen. Apparently, ever since Reid and his team had been promoted, Commander Ajax had increased the intensity of their training.
He said something about forging diamonds under pressure but Dean suspected that the commander was only doing this because he enjoyed watching them suffer.
“You look well rested” Reid said with a small chuckle as he approached the trio.
Dean just glared at him with his tired eyes, choosing not to say anything.
“Hello!” Beel chirped, waving enthusiastically at Lisa before hopping off Reid’s head and landing on her shoulders.
Lisa was frozen, not by Beel’s form but by the fact that, this time, it looked a lot like Reid, like his exact replica but smaller.
“Who’s that?” Damien asked.
“That’s Beel, my forged beast” Reid simply replied.
His reply caused both Damien’s and Dean’s brain to stop working for a moment.
Their react was natural, since as far as they know, forged beasts were not humans even though there’re some that have humanoid shapes.
“What the hell do you mean by ‘your forged beast’? Damien asked as soon as he recovered.
“But it really is” Reid said with a sigh “it’s the same forged beast I fought Darren with.”
“It is” Lisa confirmed.
This caused Damien to closely observe Beel, looking for any similarity with its fly form…apart from the wings anyway.

Seeing Damien looking so closely at it, Beel decided to introduce itself.
“Hello,” it said in a cute voice “I’m Beel, Papa’s favorite forged beast.”
Damien’s disbelief just increased. Yes,forged beasts could talk but only their tamers and other forged beasts could understand them.
But this one was speaking as clearly as a human would, which was hard to believe.
“Squeak” Rusty, on Reid’s head, denied Beel’s claim of it being Reid’s favorite.
“Of course I am” Beel said, “see, I even look exactly like papa.”
“Squeak, Squeak” Rusty rebutted, which translated to “yeah, well I’ve been with him longer.”
“T-” Beel couldn’t find an argument for that, so it just turned to Lisa, “but I’m your favorite, right mama?”
It’s words caused everyone to freeze, especially Lisa. A slow blush crept up her cheeks as she repeated,
“Mama?”
“Yeah” Beel nodded but luckily, for Lisa, before it could elaborate, the intercoms came to life again.
{ETA: one minute, all active personnel are required to gather at the designated defense area showing on your map.}
“Alright, let’s move,” Reid said, snapping the group out of their stunned silence.
Lisa cleared her throat and gently lifted Beel off her shoulder, handing him back to Reid without a word—her face still slightly red.
Dean muttered under his breath, “This day just keeps getting weirder.”
The group ran through the corridor and down the stairs, passing lots of cadets on the way to the location indicated on their watches.
As they approached the location, they could see exactly how chaotic the base was, with almost every personnel heading towards the location.
Although the sun hadn’t risen yet, whatever was approaching was enough to make the skies seem brighter.
They soon reached the highlighted location on the map, meeting up with Clara, Marcus, Ethan and Damien’s team.
“There,” a cadet pointed up, “That has to be it.”
“No sh*t,” his friend standing by him replied with eyes wide.
Even though the object was really far away, they could feel the waves of heat it emitted.
“If that thing keeps getting closer, we’ll be turned to ash before we even know what we’re up against,” Ethan stated, sweat rolling down his forehead.
That’s when the object came into view clearly now. It wasn’t a ship nor was it any flying primal. It was humanoid. Humanoid and burning.
Flames trailed behind her like wings of a phoenix, illuminating the dark morning sky in crimson and gold.
Reid’s heart skipped a beat, he had seen this before.
“No way…” he muttered, his voice barely a whisper.
The figure slowed, descending with powerful control, and landed just beyond the defense perimeter.
The earth immediately cracked beneath her impact, waves of heat moving outwards, melting the earth beneath them.
The flames began to die down, revealing two figures, figures that Reid clearly recognized.
“Mom?”
