The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 152
Chapter 152: A Visitor [2]
“Mom?” Reid said in surprise.
Yep, the unidentified flaming object was none other than the phoenix lady, Vivian Fletcher.
Carried in left her hand like a hand bag was Reid’s nanny Ellie
Ellie looked like she was only a moment away from puking her guts out but otherwise, she looked okay for someone previously wrapped in flames.
There was not even a hint of scorch on her maid uniform. Neither was there any on Vivian’s white clothes.
She slowly approached the base but was stopped by a wall of high-level guards and a very nervous commander Voss.
“T-This is a restricted military zone. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed beyond this point. Please turn back immediately.” He stuttered out.
Of course he recognized Vivian, who wouldn’t. She’s after all the strongest known person in the planet right now. But he was just following protocols.
“Stand down Voss” commander Ajax’s voice came from behind Commander Voss.
“B-but” Commander Voss wanted to argue but Ajax’s next words shut him down.
“Or do you want to find out what your chances of surviving against a mythical rank is?”
“….” Voss couldn’t say anything else.
“Tell command to call off the alarm” Commander Ajax order and watched Voss walk away.
He then turned to Vivian, offering a polite nod, though he looked slightly tense.
“Lady Fletcher,” he said, his voice steady, “to what do we owe the honor of your… dramatic entrance?”
“Hmm?” Vivian looked at the commander, noting his strength.
She felt how weird his aura was, almost comparable to the primals but she just ignored it and replied to his question.
“I’m here to visit my son,” she said.
“Reid Fletcher?” Ajax asked and she nodded.
Ajax glanced toward Reid’s group, his gaze landing on the white-haired boy standing among the crowd of stunned soldiers.
“Looks like your week off really got canceled,” he muttered to himself, then raised his hand and waved Reid over.
Reid stepped forward, the group parting to let him through. The closer he got, the more surreal it felt.
His mom—his mother—had just dive-bombed a high-level military base, melted part of the terrain, and was now casually walking through it like it was a weekend stroll.
“There you are,” she said, as if she hadn’t just caused panic in the military. “You’ve grown taller again. And your hair’s a mess.”
Reid blinked. “…Hi, Mom.”
“Hi, sweetie.” She lifted Ellie off her shoulder and gently placed the dizzy woman on the ground. “You hungry?”
There was silence.
An entire battalion of armed soldiers, high-ranking officers, and elite cadets watched this mythical being fuss over his son.
Beel, still sitting on Reid’s shoulder, clapped. “Grandma’s the coolest!”
Ajax looked like he was deciding whether to laugh or cry. He took a breath, then turned to his comm unit.

“All units, false alarm,” he said, somehow managing not to scream. “Repeat, the object has been identified. Stand down. Resume normal operations.”
A collective groan and sigh of relief spread through the defense squads. Some soldiers sat down, some stared into the sky like they had just seen their lives flash before their eyes.
Beel blinked from Reid’s shoulder and then waved with a cheery, “Hello, Grandma!”
“Hm?” Vivian looked at curiously Beel before saying, “I don’t believe we’ve met little one, what’s your name?”
Beel let out a small chuckle before saying”of course we’ve met, grandma”
“It’s me, Beel” he introduced.
Vivian thought about it, trying to match Beel’s current form to the one in her head.
“Wait, you’re the little fly?” She asked.
“Yep” Beel answered with a large smile.
“Wow, I guess I’ve missed a lot” she said and patted Beel’s little head before turning to Rusty “I remember you too, Rusty.”
“Squeak” Rusty replied to her greeting, also receiving a pet from her.
“I hope Reid didn’t get into too much trouble?” she said.
“Squeak” Reid chose not to translate that.
Ellie finally let out a groan and muttered, “Never. Again.” Her hair was a complete mess, and her face pale, but somehow she was still clutching a handbag.
Reid stared at his mother for another moment before finding his voice. “What are you doing here? You almost lit the whole base on fire!”
“I was being discreet,” Vivian said, her tone matter-of-fact. “Then Ellie suggested we take the scenic route through the upper atmosphere.”
Ellie shot her a look of betrayal. “I said I prefer buses!”
Vivian gave Ellie an innocent look. “And I gave you a first-class flight. You’re welcome.”
Ellie just groaned again and sat on the ground, deciding the earth was now her home.
She sometimes forget that this woman was supposed to be her boss.
Meanwhile, Commander Ajax was massaging his temples. “Discreet,” he muttered. “She said discreet…”
Lisa finally walked over, trying her best to appear composed but failing thanks to the soft pink on her cheeks. “It’s… nice to see you again, Lady Fletcher.”
Vivian turned to her and smiled warmly. “Lisa Blackwood, right? You’ve grown even more radiant. Are you and my son finally—?”
“Nope!” Reid interrupted quickly, clearing his throat. “Definitely not. Moving on!”
Beel tilted his head. “But Mama—”
Reid slapped a hand…well finger over Beel’s mouth.
Ajax, still holding onto the last bits of his professionalism, gestured toward the base. “Lady Fletcher, would you like to come inside? Perhaps rest a bit? Or… not melt anything else?”
Vivian smiled. “If it’s not too much trouble.”
“Of course not” Ajax replied, leading them towards a certain part of the base.
“Great,” Vivian gave him a small smirk, before turning back to Reid. “And besides,I heard your team’s been doing quite well. Thought I’d come see for myself what kind of trouble you’re getting into these days.”
Beel nodded. “Papa’s been awesome!”
Vivian ruffled Reid’s hair—an act that earned an indignant huff. “That’s my boy.”
Reid sighed again. “Please don’t blow up anything while you’re here.”
He said that, but he was secretly happy to see his mom after everything that had happened this month.
“No promises,” she replied.
