The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Tailers
“ALRIGHT, PEOPLE, THE GAME IS ABOUT TO GET EVEN MORE EXCITING!” the announcer’s voice boomed as he declared “RELEASE THE HIGHER-TIERED PRIMALS!”
“It’s time already?” Dean asked, he was hoping that Reid would get a few minutes of rest but it seemed that would be impossible.
“Lead the way” Reid said sounding unbothered by the lack of rest.
“Fine ” Dean answered, his bat already located the nearest silver rank beast.
They walked towards it, seemingly unaware of the group tailing them.

—-a few minutes ago—-
“Damnit, this is just too much work” a black haired, black eyed man spoke as his forged-beast— a tiger—took down a Bronze-tier primal.
“That’s why I suggested we let others do the work and we’ll just reap the benefits” behind him a black haired woman spoke.
They were a group of four bronze ranked tamers who decided to join the Hunt. After all, the Hunt is an opportunity for the lower ranked tamers to hit it big.
The prices ranged from credits to cores to even forged-beasts. Even if you don’t win the Hunt as long as you survived to the end, all the cores you collected were yours.
The problem with this team was that since they were low ranked tamers, they were finding it hard to hunt lots of primals even the bronze ranked ones.
The game’s difficulty was suddenly increased by the announcement that they just heard.
“Lucy’s right, after all everyone will be tired out after hunting and we’ll just swoop in and relieve them of their cores” a skinny man wearing glasses said with a grin.
“That sounds like an idea” The man with the tiger forged-beast said with a grin of his own before they all suddenly turned to the fourth member.
“So what do you say boss?” Lucy asked “at least that way, even if we don’t win you’ll have enough cores to sell and you’ll finally be able to pay for your daughter’s treatment”.
The leader was a man who looked to be in his mid thirties. He had brown hair and eyes, a common feature that can be found anywhere else in the city.
Since he was only a bronze ranked tamer and wouldn’t get much cores if he decided to participate in the game alone.
He brought together three others that were in the same situation as him automatically making him the leader of this four man group.
The man thought about their suggestions for a while before deciding. His daughter was only five but she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart.
Although it was curable through surgery and heart transplant, he didn’t have enough money to pay for the operation that’s why he decided to take part in this game.
“Fine but we’re not harming anyone we don’t have to” he said mentally apologizing to whoever they were going to rob.
“Of course boss” the skinny man said in a tone which gave the leader a bad feeling but just shrugged it off as they moved to search for their unlucky targets.
They suddenly heard the sound of battle ahead making them rush ahead and take cover.
The person who was engaged in battle with the primals was a white haired boy who looked no older than 18. A few steps behind him was a dark skinned boy.
Although they were just kids, the four didn’t approach yet because of the white haired boy. He gave them a bad feeling, added to the fact that he was easily taking down the beasts with just a metal bat.
“If he’s that strong, then he definitely has a lot of cores” Lucy whispered to the rest, her eyes shining in greed.
“You’re right, he’s the perfect target” Bart, the man with the tiger forged-beast answered.
“Yes but we can’t just carelessly approach him, we might end up losing the few we already have” Callum, the skinny guy with glasses spoke.

“Then what do you suggest” Lucy asked, they knew Callum was the brains of their group and even their leader Victor knew it was best to follow his suggestions.
“Let’s wait after he’s tired out from fighting the beasts then we’ll attack” Callum suggested.
“What about the dark kid?” Bart asked “he doesn’t seem to be fighting so he might be a problem”.
“Don’t worry about him” Callum said, his glasses glinted due to the while he analyzed the dark skinned boy “from the way he’s staying behind, I’m guessing he doesn’t have a battle type forged beast”.
“I see” Bart nodded in understanding “then we just quietly follow them until we see a chance?”.
“Exactly” Callum confirmed, adjusting his glasses on his face.
Victor was quietly observing the kids and for some reason, the white haired one gave him the creeps.

*Roar*
A silver rank gorilla looking primal roared at Reid who stood unbothered in front of it.
If it was the him from a month back, he would have been struggling from just the pressure it released but thanks to Evo, although he and the beast were technically in the same rank,
He knew this was going to be an easy fight.
Dean stood a few feet away where he nervously watched Reid face the silver rank gorilla.
“So buddy, do you think we can take him” Reid asked Rusty that was sitting on his head, its favorite spot.
“Squeak” it squeaked confidently which translated to ‘of course’.
“Then let me handle it. Just act as my support ” Reid said with a smile as he spun the bat.
“Squeak” Rusty affirmed.
It didn’t need to transform into its wolf form to use its abilities. That was just its battle form.
“Alright big guy, come at me” he pointed his bat at the gorilla who got mad at the challenge.
*Roar* it roared again and drummed its chest before rushing forward with a surprising agility.
When it got close enough to Reid, it raised its hand and slammed it down aiming to squash him.
“No” Dean eyes widened in despair seeing the gorilla’s hand slam down on Reid.
