The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 38
Chapter 38: The Feline Gang
“You guys planning to stay hidden forever?” Reid said with a smirk, turning to face the guys he felt from a while ago. “Or do you want to come out and join the fun?”
Surprised at being discovered, the four walked out of their hiding spots.
“We were just passing by” Victor said.
No way in hell was he going to face a kid who defeated a silver tier beasts with nothing but a bat.
He turned around, ready to leave but Callum spoke up.
“What do you mean leave” He asked, a frown etched on his face. He then turned to Reid and said “I don’t know what trick you used to take down the gorilla but you better hand over all your cores.”
‘Are these guys idiots’ Reid thought to himself ‘they just watched me take down a whole ass gorilla with just a freaking bat and they plan on threatening me?’.
“Those three are the Feline Gang,” Dean whispered, his voice barely audible but tense. “They’re notorious for going around and taking other participants’ cores. They always join every game and aren’t afraid to kill to get what they want.”
Reid glanced at the three who Dean identified as the Feline Gang. They seemed pleased of their reputation but the fourth guy was a little nervous.
“And the fourth one?” Reid asked without looking away from the group.
“Never seen him before” Dean added. “Maybe he just joined their team”
Victor stiffened, clearly overhearing the conversation. He didn’t want Reid to identify him as an enemy and the best course of action was to quickly leave.
“Look, I’m not sticking around for this. You guys can deal with him,” Victor said, taking a cautious step back. After all, he still had a daughter waiting for him.
He could always participate in the next game and gather some more cores and use it to pay the operation cost.
“Pathetic,” Callum spat, shaking his head. “Fine. We’ll handle this ourselves.”
Reid’s smirk widened as he tightened his grip on the bat. “You guys are really something. Three against one—and you still think you have a shot? Should I go easy on you to make it fair?”
“Don’t get cocky!” Bart said, summoning his tiger forged beast . “You’re just a kid who was lucky enough to face a weak silver rank beast!”
Lucy summoned a panther while Callum summoned a cheetah. They all had feline like forged-beasts hence their gang name.
Reid’s eyes gleamed with amusement as he stepped forward. “Alright then. Let’s see how lucky I really am.”
“I don’t think fighting them will a good idea” Dean whispered, although Reid was strong he wasn’t confident in him taking on three guys just after fighting a strong primal.
“Let’s just hand them the cores and leave quickly” he finished.
“Don’t worry” Reid whispered back, taking a dramatic pause “I’ll win”.
“You better listen to your friend kid” Bart spoke up again not hearing Reid’s words “Hand all your cores over or don’t blame us for what’ll happen to you”.
” How about no!” Reid said as he pointed his bat at them “now, who’s first?”.
Elizabeth wanted him to dominate the game and gain attention, what better way to do that than a 3V1 where the odds seemed to be stacked against him.
He would’ve preferred if they were at least silver tier but, meh, he’ll take what he gets.
Before he could react, his shadow suddenly moved and wrapped around his legs restraining his movement.
Reid looked down at the shadows wrapped around his feet in surprise ‘looks like they do have a few tricks up their sleeves.’
“Reid, look out!” Dean shouted but it came a bit late, The cheetah was already in front of Reid.

With a swing of its paw, it slammed the restrained Reid, sending him flying into one of the trees.
Bart’s tiger attacked next. With a loud roar, the tree Reid slammed into and a few other trees fell on him.
“Told you he wasn’t a big deal” Callum said “There’s no way he’ll come out of that unscathed”.
It was a bit strange how quickly they were able to take care of Reid but he chucked it up to their flawless teamwork and Reid’s cockiness.
“Now boy, hand over your cores if you don’t want to end up like your friend” Lucy said as she walked towards the trembling Dean.
“You know, my expectations were high after that shadow restraint thing but the follow up attacks were pretty disappointing” A familiar voice spoke before Lucy could reach Dean.
They quickly turned around to spot Reid who was supposed to be buried under a tree pile, sitting on the same tree pile completely unscathed.
“Come on, you guys have two more chances to attack” Reid said as he held up his index and middle finger.
“Don’t get cocky!” Bart shouted as his tiger pounced on Reid again.
The tiger slashed at Reid, sending him flying again and Callum’s cheetah was quickly to follow up, slashing at Reid and sending him flying in the opposite direction.
Lucy’s panther attacked last, wrapped shadow hands on Reid who was still midair and slamming him down as possible, creating a crater where he landed.
“That should do it right?” Lucy nervously asked keeping her eyes on the crater.
“That’s three but I’ll allow it” Reid stood up from the crater without a scratch and dusted his clothes.
He didn’t even look like someone who had been attacked save for the dirt on his jacket.
Dean and the trio were surprised to see that the attack didn’t do anything to Reid but the reality was far different.
The attacks by the beast had hurt like hell and when he was slammed on the floor, almost every bone in his body was broken but Rusty used [pause] and then used [rewind] to completely heal him before anyone could notice.
He wasn’t going to let the persona —as a cocky but hella strong tamer — be ruined just like that.
“W-what the hell is he?” Lucy stammered in shock.
“I guess it’s my turn to attack now” He rushed at the trio.
_______
A few minutes later, the members of the Feline gang were all laying on the floor, passed out.
Defeating was pretty easy since they were weaker than even the gorilla he previously fought.
“That takes care of that” Reid said as he turned to the shocked Dean “let’s keep moving”.
“A-are you just going to leave them like that?” Dean asked looking at the unconscious trio.
“Oh right” Reid smacked his head as if he forgot something.
He bent down and searched the unconscious bodies of the Feline gang. By the time he was done, he was holding 8 Bronze-tier cores.
Dean looked at Reid in shock as he pocketed the cores he just stole from the gang.
“What?” Reid asked, seeing the surprise on Dean’s face.
“Nothing” Dean answered, choosing to be silent. After all, the feline gang was about to do the same to them.
“Alright, now let’s go” Reid said as he strapped the cores in the core bag since the rules didn’t allow them to store them in their inventory.
“We’ve got a gold ranked beast to hunt..” he casually said as he and Dean walked away.
A few minutes later, Victor appeared from behind one of the trees. He was watching the fight and was happy that he decided to run away.
“Now, I remember you having a secret core bag” he said as he bent down and started searching the unconscious Callum..
