The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 40
Chapter 40: Super Stag..
Reid and Dean sat on the roots, watching the fight. The cloaked figure was pretty fast but just as predicted, the Stag was able to injure her, ripping off her cloak in the process.
“Lisa?” Reid was surprised at the figure revealed when the cloak was removed.
Lisa was a childhood friend who belonged to the Blackwood family. Yes, Damien’s sister. Much like Reid, she was labeled a failure by her family due to the constant comparison between her and Damien.
But unlike Reid, she wasn’t cast out. Their mother was the head of the family so her decision to let her daughter stay was final.
Reid and Lisa met on one of the Great families meet. The kids were left to play together but unlike normal children games with toys, the barely 12 year olds were competing to gather Iron-tier cores.
Yes, Reid’s and almost all the other kids from the great families started training to fight primals from an extremely young age.
At first, Reid had no intention of playing hero and trying to save the cloaked figure but seeing that it was Lisa, he changed his mind.
He watched as the Stag teleported close to Lisa planning to impale her. Rusty quickly teleported them towards her and in a fraction of a second, Reid swooped her into a princess carry and the two were teleported back to safety by Rusty.
He noticed that her eyes were tightly shut which caused him to inwardly chuckle, she was probably waiting for the pain of being impaled but lucky for her, it was never going to come.
“You know, I never expected to meet you in a place like this” Reid decided to speak up.
Recognizing the voice, Lisa slowly —almost hesitantly— peeled her eyes open.
“R-Reid?” She asked in a low voice. Surprised to see him here of all places.
“Hello Lisa” Reid looked at her with a large smile and gently placed her to sit “we’ll catch up when I take care of this”.
Lisa watched as Reid walked forward to face the primal. She knew that he was supposed to be a failure, an iron tier tamer with 0 potential but for some strange reason, she believed that Reid would be able to take it down.
“It’s my turn now big guy,” Reid said with a grin pointing a metal bat which she just noticed at the wary Stag.
“Can you sit this one out big guy? You’ve already had your turn” He said, speaking to the floating wyvern.
To Lisa’s surprise, the wyvern listened and flew towards her, mentally requesting to return to the inventory to which she obliged.
She always thought that forged-beasts only understood their tamers but Reid just proved that wrong’.
“Now that that’s out of the way, what’s your advice Evo?” Reid asked.
[Try to lock it in place and don’t get hit by its beams] Evo answered.
“Got it” he focused on the Stag that was preparing to attack.
“Rus—” Reid was teleported away before he could complete what he wanted to say. In his previous spot was a line of scorched ground.
‘That was fast’ he thought.
He hadn’t seen the attack coming but he was glad his partners did. They had taken on their relatively larger forms with Rusty in his wolf form and Nyx’s form growing bigger.
Reid tightened his grip on the metal bat as the Stag’s antlers began to glow, charging up another beam.
“Rusty, Nyx! Let’s kick this overgrown deer’s ass!” he called out. The two forged beasts responded immediately.
He was again teleported out of the way when the Stag fired its beams again.
The Primal, seeing that its beam attack miss yet again, teleported close hoping to impale Reid with its horns.
“Big mistake” Reid grinned.

Before the Stag could swipe its horns at him, it froze mid attack because Rusty used [pause] on it.
With a heavy swing, Reid slammed the metal bat on its head hoping to quickly finish it off but his bat just harmlessly bounced off only succeeding making it even angrier.
The Stag roared at him and teleported away, successfully escaping the time lock.
“This is going to be a lot harder than I thought” Reid said. Now he had to find other ways to take it down since the bat didn’t seem to be working.
“Alright, new plan,” Reid muttered. “Rusty, we’ll keep it on its toes…Hooves. Nyx, get ready with Nullification when it tries to charge another beam!”
Rusty growled in response, it quickly disappeared with Reid and appeared up close, teleporting around it to confuse the beast.
The Stag swiped at him with its antlers, but Rusty’s Skip ability kept them out of harm’s way, while Reid continues to deliver some hits with his bat at the Primal.
Each failed attack made the Stag more frustrated, its movements becoming erratic.
It then started charging its beam, hoping to blast the annoying bugs away but before it could completely charge it.
“Nyx Now!” With Reid’s shout, the beam charging up between the primal’s horns quickly fizzled out.
“Perfect!” Reid charged forward, swinging the bat with all his strength. This time, he aimed for the joint where one of the Stag’s legs met its body.
The impact sent a jarring shockwave up his arms, but the primal let out a pained cry, its leg buckling slightly.
The Stag retaliated, teleporting behind Reid and swiping with its antlers. Before the attack could connect, Rusty appeared, using Pause to momentarily freeze the beast mid-motion.
They quickly retreated to safety before the Stag could break out of the time lock.
“My bat’s barely doing any damage” Reid grumbled. He knew that he quickly had to find a way to end the fight, but how?.
[Its core Reid] Evo spoke up which confused Reid until he thought about it.
“That’s right, its core” he immediately understood what Evo was suggesting.
Before he could put his quick put together plan in action, he heard a roar from the now free and angry stag.
Its once brown fur and dark brown antlers now glowed dark yellow. From the Aura it was releasing, Reid knew it had somehow increased its abilities.
‘What the f*ck?!’ Reid screamed in his mind ‘super s*yian Stag??’.
[It has activated its second form which lasts for only five minutes and leaves it drained but triples all its stats until that five minutes are over.
But I don’t think we can survive that long] Evo informed.
Proving Evo’s words true, the Stag’s red eyes glowed and a concentrated beam shot out of them.
Reid quickly dodged and looked at the place where the beam landed.
There was a huge hole in the tree and it was melting..
“Well, we’re f*cked” he said with a gulp as he turned back to face the Primal.
