The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 50
Chapter 50: [Copy]
Elizabeth and Reid gripped their weapons tightly as they watched the primals exit the portals.
In total, there were 14 cloaked figures excluding the leader and each had summoned a portal without two primals coming out from each making the total amount of primals they had to fight 28.
“How can they even summon these things?” Elizabeth asked, even in the military she had never heard of people summoning primals to aid in a fight.
“This is a blessing bestowed on us by the Master himself” the leader was the one who replied, his expression held a look of reverie as he mentioned his Master “Only us, the chosen, can use it and it allows us to deliver judgement on you sinners.”
“Judgement this, judgement that, what the f*ck are you talking about.” Reid, with a frown on his face, asked. He hoped to stall long enough for Evo to bypass the thing preventing him from summoning his forged-beasts.
‘Evo, how long would it take?’ he mentally asked.
[Approximately 10 minutes] she replied causing his frown to deepen.
’10 minutes?’ he said ‘I don’t think we can hold on for that long.’
[You have to, I’ll try to be as quick as I can] Evo said.
“The beautiful creatures you call primals” the leader interrupted his conversation with Evo “the ones whose flesh and cores you have tainted by using them to create the abominations you call forged-beasts”.
The more the leader spoke the angrier his voice got until it suddenly calmed.
“Those creatures were sent as humanity’s reckoning, a way to rid this world of filth” he continued “but instead of embracing your judgement, you filths decided to resist.”
“Judgment, huh?” Reid said, his grip tightening on his bat as he stared down the leader in disgust “If that’s what you really believe, then why are you all still here? Shouldn’t you have volunteered for your ‘cleansing’ a long time ago?”.
“Sinners like you, would never understand.” The leader spoke again “we have already being cleansed by the Master, therefore we are the ones chosen to ensure humanity’s cleansing.”
Reid scoffed, shaking his head. “Cleansed by the master? That’s convenient. You’re ‘cleansed,’ so you get to stay alive and play executioner while the rest of us are supposed to just roll over and die?”
The leader’s grin dropped as his expression hardened. “You dare mock the master’s divine will? We are his chosen shepherds, tasked with purging the unworthy. Do not presume to question what you cannot comprehend.”
Elizabeth walked forward, tightly gripping her sword which was already unsheathed “You people disgust me”.
“I’d say you’ll regret those words when the great Malrath is finally summoned” the leader said “but you won’t be around that long.”
With that, he signalled the other cloaked figures to attack. They let the growling primals rush at Reid and Elizabeth.
The primals lunged at them with their claws and teeth gleaming due to hall’s lighting.
“Stay close” Elizabeth ordered.
“Sure” Reid answered.
The first primal, a wolf like creature, lunged at Elizabeth hoping to bite her head off but with practiced ease, she side stepped, avoided its attack and with a quick swing of her sword, cleanly decapitated the beast.
The felled beast didn’t even have the chance to whimper in pain before it died. Seeing how fast she took care of the primal, surprised Reid but he focused on his own battle.
With a swing of his bat, he took down a lizard like primal. Swiftly, they both continued cutting down the primals one after the other but strangely, the number of primals never reduced.
A string of notifications from Evo, for killing the primals, rang in his head but he ignored them for now.
Reid smashed another primal’s head before raising his head to look at the vortexs they were summoned from when he discovered.
“The ones we killed are quickly being replaced” he informed Elizabeth who also looked up to observe the same.
“Hahaha” the leader loudly laughed “I’m surprised you can even take down that much, but it doesn’t matter, because for each primal you slay, another will be summoned.”

“No matter how skilled you are, you are bound to become exhausted” His grin had resurfaced, seeing how close they were to summoning the great Malrath and finally cleansing the city.
[The portals are connected to their respective summoners, as long as they’re alive primals will keep coming out from them] Evo analyzed and informed Reid.
‘Thank you Evo’s he thanked and turned to Elizabeth who was still swiftly cutting down the primals, with not even a sign of exhaustion on her face “we’ll have to take out the summoners, they’re the ones keeping the portals open.”
“Got it” she nodded but there was no way of getting close to the cloaked figures since their path was blocked by the primal.
Elizabeth sheathed her sword as she took a low pose, closing her eyes. Time seemed to slow down as the primals jumped at her, prepared to rip her to shreds.
Her eyes snapped opened and with a speed Reid’s eyes had a hard time tracking, she swung her sword killing all the aiming to attack her.
She then lunged forward, through the space she had temporarily created and towards the closet cloaked figure.
Before the person could react, Elizabeth’s sword had sliced them in half, splitting the person from the crown of his head down the center of their body.
For a moment, time seemed to freeze as the cloaked figure’s hands shot up, in futile attack to hold the halves together.
Their eyes widened in disbelief as the stared at their executor before gravity finally acted and the two halves dropped separately and a portal closed with their death.
Reid and everyone else were shocked but Elizabeth didn’t even have a change in expression suggesting this wasn’t the first time killing someone.
She quickly moved to the next target but before she could reach them, half of the primals pounced at her, causing her to retreat.
She landed next to Reid with a bloody sword and jacket. She summoned another sword from her inventory and handed it to him.
“I don’t think your bat with take care of them swiftly enough, so use this” She explained in a cold tone.
His surprise due to Elizabeth killing someone didn’t last long since witnessing someone being killed wasn’t something new to him.
With a nod, Reid sent his bat back to his inventory before taking the sword. He wasn’t a stranger to fighting with swords so he quickly adjusted his grip on it and slashed at the nearest primal.
The sword passed through its neck like hot knife through butter. Reid nodded in satisfaction, the sword was definitely much more easier to fight with than his metal bat.
He swung again at another primal which lunged at him, cleanly cutting it in half.
“YOU, YOU F*CKING SINNERS, YOU DARE TAINT THE MASTER’S FLOOR WITH THE BLOOD OF A CHOSEN” The leader recovered from his shock of seeing one of his people die “I’LL MAKE SURE YOU DIE IN THE MOST PAINFUL WAY POSSIBLE”.
“You’re being too loud old man” Reid pointed his sword at him, his entire demeanor changing “shut the f*ck up and wait your turn”.
They continued killing the primals but still couldn’t clear a way towards the summoners.
Elizabeth couldn’t blitz through the primals since they had learned from their mistakes and were coming at her in a way that would block her path towards them.
“This is getting annoying” Reid frowned. They had been constantly slashing at the primals to no end and they were not a step closer to the summoners.
“Any ideas Evo?” He asked, getting frustrated at the never ending waves of primals.
[Copy: allows you to copy an ability from one of your forged beasts.] She reminded Reid of the skill.
He thought about the suggestion. If he uses the skill, he stood the risk of Elizabeth finding out about Evo and the evolution Codex but if he doesn’t use it, it’s only a matter of time before they get exhausted.
‘fine, let’s use it Evo’ he decided. He’ll handle Elizabeth’s suspicions later but for now, they needed to survive first.

Reid selected [pause] and quickly activated it.
Elizabeth paused in surprise, recognizing the ability as Reid’s forged beast’s ability.
She turned to him wanting to ask how he summoned his forged-beast but didn’t find any by his side.
“Later” Reid said and she nodded, turning back to the frozen primals and fanatics.
With swift movements, the took down all the primals and approached the summoners. Without a change in expression, they decapitated the clueless fanatics frozen in time leaving only the leader alive.
When time resumed, the heads of the cloaked figures dropped to the floor and a fountain of blood sprayed from their necks.
“W-what the hell did you do?” The leader asked, his legs trembling in fear.
“Now, why don’t you tell us where the people who you kidnapped are?” Elizabeth said as the approached him.
The leader trembled as they approached just for him to suddenly stop and burst out into a maniacal laughter.
“Hahahaha” with a hand to his face, he laughed loudly.
“I think we broke him” Reid said seeing the man’s expression as he laughed.
“You sinners don’t get it, do you?” The leader started speaking “all your efforts are futile, the great Malrath will be summoned and it will be all thanks to you.”
Reid’s brow furrowed, the leader’s words gave him a sense of de ja vu. He quickly recalled John, Mia’s father acting the same.
“Thanks to you, Malrath will cleanse this city” he continued laughing.
Both Reid and Elizabeth felt a suppressing aura from behind them and they turned to see all the blood spilled in the hall making way towards the dragon’s eye as if they had a mind of their own.
Before they could ask the leader to stop whatever was going on, he had already slit his own throat with a dagger.
His lifeless body dropped to the floor and his blood, just like the rest, flowed towards the eye.
An earthquake like rumble shook the hall as a bright red light shot from the eye, through the ceiling and into the skies, creating dark clouds.
“That’s not good” Elizabeth said, looking at the hole the light had ripped through the ceiling.
In the sky, a big red swirling portal opened up and from within, a claw came out.
“Platinum tier” Elizabeth said again, feeling the pressure being emitted by whatever was coming.
[Malrath] Evo suddenly commented.
“What?” Reid asked, not understanding what she meant by that.
[Malrath, the dragon of death and destruction] Evo explained and warned [this is going to be a dangerous fight Reid]..
