The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: A Different Reid?
Lead by a white four armed gorilla with some of its bones exposed, the second wave of monsters approached them.
*Roar*
The gorilla roared at them in challenge.
Reid shook off the blood from his sword and pointed it at the gorilla “come at me”
The primal drummed its chest with all four arms, accepting Reid’s challenge.
“Rusty, Nyx and Beel, you handle the incoming wave, the big guys is mine.” Reid said.
If the pressure being emitted from the gorilla was anything to go by, Reid realized it was at gold tier but he still couldn’t help but get excited about their impending clash.
With another roar, the gorilla charged forward with a speed that didn’t match its size, leaving a crater in its previous position.
It quickly arrived in front of Reid, all four hands descending and ready to turn him into paste.
‘It’s fast’ Reid thought as he used [pause] to narrowly avoid the fists.
The gorilla’s hands ripped through the ground, sending debris flying. Before it could withdraw its hands from the crater, a slash was delivered to one of them.
With a howl of pain, it swiped one of its hands at Reid standing behind it.
“Tch,” Reid clicked his tongue as he looked at his sword. The slash had only done superficial damage to the gorilla’s reinforced fur, barely a scratch.
“This isn’t going to cut it—literally,” he muttered, jumping back to avoid another devastating punch from the primal.
The gorilla’s fists dropped one after the other, not giving him any room to counter.
His sword, at this point was filled with cracks and a couple mores slashes would break it.
Before he could think, the primal was already upon him, swinging its fists at him. Not having enough time to activate [pause], he could only cross his hands in hopes to block the fist.
“Gah!” Reid screamed in pain as the primal’s punch connected, launching him like a ragdoll and sending him crashing through the wall of a nearby building. The impact shattered the concrete around him, leaving him buried in a pile of rubble.
[Reid are you okay?] Evo asked in worry but no reply came, his breath, mind, everything else was completely silent as if he was dead but Evo knew otherwise.
The gorilla, seeing Reid’s body sprawled across the rubble, growled in frustration. Unsatisfied, it crouched low before leaping into the air and landed where his body lay, its massive fists raised and ready to turn him into paste.
[Come on Reid, you have to wake up] Evo pleaded, her voice sounding desperate. She had no way of automatically assuming control over Reid’s body, else she would have done so and moved him to a safer place.
With a twitch of his finger, his hand gripped the sword and in a swift motion, he slashed at one of the gorilla’s hand.
The primal whose fist was quickly approaching didn’t notice anything until one of its hands was separated from its shoulders.
It roared in pain and jumped back in retreat, reassessing this human pest again.
Eerily, Reid’s body stood up from the rubble. His white hair now completely red due to both his and the primal’s blood.
He slowly opened his eyes, revealing blood red irises instead of his normally blue ones. A creepy grin marred his face and with all the blood on him, one would think he was a psychopath.
“It’s been a while” he spoke in his usual voice but this one sent chills down the primal’s spines. Its instincts screaming for it to run away from whatever this thing was.
[R-Reid?] Evo asked, sounding unsure since Reid was currently giving different vibes from what he usually does.
“Oh It’s Evo” Reid chuckled “I guess you haven’t met this side yet”.

“For now, just know that I’m still me” He continued, before focusing his red eyes back on the gorilla “Let’s finish this, monkey”.
Before the gorilla could decide wether to run or not, Reid was already upon it. With a slash, it lost another one of its arms.
The primal roared in pain and swiped its hand at him but Reid was quick enough to avoid it. He jumped high enough to land on its shoulders.
“Over here, ugly” he taunted making the primal swing its hand trying to swat him like a mosquito.
He jumped again and landed on its head this time, he squatted towards its face and before he was swatted away again, he buried the sword in on of its eyes.
He jumped down, softly landing and gleefully spinning to the gorilla that was roaring in pain.
“That’s it, scream more” Reid laughed, enjoying the gorilla’s struggle “I’m going to enjoy ripping you apart”.
He licked the blood that landed close to his lips making a terrifying display.
[Are you okay Reid?] Evo asked in worry, his demeanor, speech and basically everything was so much unlike the Reid she was used to.
“Never been better” he answered.
The primal was now completely seeing red, both from anger and from the blood that entered its remaining eye.
*Roar*
“Oh? You can still roar in anger?” Reid raised and eyebrow before he adopted a grin again “that’s even better, this would have been boring otherwise”.
The now two armed gorilla lunged towards him but Reid easily evaded its attack. It followed up with a punch, but Reid persistently stayed on its blind side (the side with a missing eye) making it harder for the primal to land any decent attack.
“This is getting boring” Reid suddenly commented, his smile dropping “you said they can only be killed if their cores are destroyed right?”
[Yes and this one’s core is located in its chest] Evo answered, deciding to trust in this crazy Reid for now.
“Great” He answered.
He looked at the sword in his hand and back at the gorilla. The cracks had increased, “its surely going to break in the next three attack”.
He scanned the primal until he spotted one, a decay that exposed its rib cages, reminding him that he was fighting against an undead creature.
“How does an undead feel pain?” He asked himself before shaking his head “it better this way, since it’ll just be boring if they didn’t feel any”.
He focused on the exposed rib cage and noticed a dim glow coming from from within.
“I’m guessing that glow is being produced by its core” he said, readying a plan to quickly take down the primal before the sword broke.
“Ah right, I still have this” he paused “Evo, activate copy and show me the abilities Beel has absorbed so far.
[ Copy activated: please choose the ability you want to copy.
[Beel] Bond: [50/100]
Poison Cloud: Releases a toxic gas from the pores on its body.
Fear: Induce fear on opponents weaker than it.
Power Spike: Temporarily increases its strength, speed, and durability by flooding its body with energy.
Energy Wings: Generates glowing energy projections on its wings for enhanced flight mobility.
Clone: Creates temporary clones of itself with 50% of its original strength.
Energy coating: can coat anything in a layer of energy, strengthening it.
]
“This much abilities in so little time?” Reid’s brow raised in surprise “anyway, give me [energy coating]”.
[You’ve selected Energy coating, you can use it for 10 minutes] Evo informed.
“10 minutes is enough” he said as he activated the skill.
The blade of his sword was covered in a glowing golden layer of energy.
With that, he rushed at the primal ready to finish it off. Seeing his fast approach, the gorilla swung its fist at him but he easily dodged it and continued forward.
Before it could send another attack, Reid arrived close to its legs and a slash cleanly cutting one of them, sending the primal off balance.
Without one of its feet, the gorilla fell backwards but still tried to swat Reid, unfortunately its hand was also cut off, leaving it with only a single hand and a leg.
“Just to be safe” Reid said and slashed at the remaining hand, cutting it off.
He then climbed on the gorilla, coming up to its chest and raising his sword with a gleeful look on his face “good night”.
With that, he thrust the sword at the approximate location of the core. The primal let out a whimper before it went completely still, its life snuffed out.
[Congratulations on killing one of Malrath’s undead army] Evo confirmed the primal’s death.
The bloody Reid jumped down from the primal’s corpse. His forged-beasts already finished with the other primals, cautiously approached him.
They could sense his change but Reid just looked at them with a grin “good job guys” he praised.
Before he could say anything else, he felt vibrations through the ground. Looking ahead, he spotted an even larger wave of beasts approaching them.
His face immediately took a gleeful look as he said “More toys to play with”..
