The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Malrath 2: Overwhelmed.
“Let’s get this over with” Malrath stood up and faced the challengers who froze in shock hearing him speak.
“Who’s dying first?” He asked as he picked up his sword.
He then turned his head towards the soldiers on the ground before saying”Let’s take care of these pests first”.
Malrath vanished from the platinum rank tamers view and a couple of seconds later he reappeared but this time his sword was completely bloody.
“That takes care of that” he said and shook the blood off his blade “the pests didn’t even know they were dying.”
Gareth pupils shrunk as he realized what just happened, he then looked down only to spot the ground filled with the corpses of his soldiers.
Some had their heads missing while others were cut in half but none had a look of fear or realization.
It was almost as if they didn’t even notice their deaths and their expressions remained the same way it was when they stood down looking up at the monster planning to destroy their world.
“Y-you monster!” Gareth shouted in anger as he let his dragon spit out a continuous stream of flames at Malrath.
The flames completely covered Malrath and kept burning for a few minutes before the dragon stopped.
The place was filled with black smoke so the tamers couldn’t see what happened to Malrath but as soon as the smoke cleared, it revealed an unscratched Malrath with not even a scale of of place.
“That was all you could do?” He asked, his voice laced with disdain and disappointment “you really thought that a dragon’s breath was enough to—”.
His words were interrupted as he was suddenly yanked back by his tail and sent crashing into the building his throne was.
“You talk too much” Gabriel’s forged beast, a Griffin, had somehow gotten behind Malrath without him noticing.
Before Malrath could recover from the attack, every single one of the tamers launched an attack at it.
Streams of flames, flame projectiles, acidic venom, earth projectiles, ice e.t.c . All rained endless at it. Once again, dust and smoke prevented them from seeing the results of their attacks but Vivian’s unease grew by the minute.
She had an initiate ability to sense anything including the ranks of tamers, forged-beasts and primals, even if they were actively hiding it.
From what she sensed from Malrath, although he was also platinum rank, his power far eclipsed their own maybe even putting him in the never before heard Mythic rank.
She could only pray that their attacks worked but before they could react, something flew out of the smoke cloud in blinding speeds.
One of the Tamers sent by the great families couldn’t even react when his head was suddenly separated from his body.
His hands tried in vain to catch his decapitated head and put it back in place. His body plummeted down, making a splat sound as it touched the ground.
Before the tamers could react, another was split in half, his face showing his fear of death but it had already taken him.
The next attack aimed for Vivian and her head was sent rolling… almost. If her entire body hadn’t been turned into flames by her phoenix, allowing Malrath’s sword to pass through.
Failure didn’t slow his attacks and he quickly targeted the next target. The tamers were taken out one by one, so easily that you would doubt it they were actual platinum rank.
But they really were and each was capable of destroying a continent at full power, but Malrath’s power was on a whole other level.
The final target was Gabriel but he was lucky enough to avoid the attack, only losing his right hand in the process.
“Aaaargh!” Gabriel screamed in pain. The pain hadn’t registered until he saw his right hand dropping to the ground and looking at the place it was supposed to be.
After Malrath stood back in front of them, out of the 10 platinum rank tamers that stood in front of him in challenge, only 5 remained with one of them missing an arm.
“Now that the weaker ones are gone” Malrath spoke, he was mocking their weaknesses and they knew “are you ready to attack me for real or will you just pathetically stand there waiting for your death?”.

Maximus’ basilisk made a move and with speeds untrackable by the eye, slammed its tail into Malrath, sending him crashing in a building.
Alexander’s Cerberus follow up with an attack on its own, the left head spitting acidic venom, the middle spitting lava and the right spitting ice.
Finally, Gareth’s dragon spat flames hotter than it ever has at Malrath, in hopes that their combined attacks would work this time.
Gabriel, whose wound was now cauterized thanks to Vivian, commanded his Griffin to join the attack, which it did sending light based attacks at Malrath.
The attacks kept up for a while, completely decimating the entire 20 floor building with ease before it stopped.
They all landed on the ground and watched in hopes that their attacks did something, anything at all to this monster but they were bound to be disappointed.
Malrath walked out of the decimated building completely unphased. The only difference with the last attack was that this time, his scales were glowing red due to the intense heat emitted on it by the attacks.
“I didn’t know humans were this stupid” he mocked “do you think these scales are just for decoration?”
“We knew it wouldn’t work ” Alex spoke for the first time.
“Oh really?” Malrath asked, intrigued by his words “then what was the point of the attack?”
“To distract you” Alex replied with a smirk.
“What are you—” an explosion went off on his chest, sending him sliding backwards.
He stabbed his sword in the ground to slow himself down but the surprise attacks were not done yet because the next moment another explosion went off on his left side, sending him flying in the complete opposite direction.
Confused, he looked around for the cause of the attack but could not spot any. He turned to the tamers and before he could speak, another blast happened, this time on his back which sent him flying forward.
Trying to stop himself, he was met with Max’s basilisk’s tail which sent him backwards again.
Although it was subtle, his scales started chipping off indicating the first breakthrough the tamers had since the start of the fight.
Malrath stood up from the rubble, some of his scales on his face moved, revealing blood red irises with vertical pupils.
His eyes glowed for a bit before he spoke “interesting, you pests just keep surprising me.”
He then focused his gaze on Vivian who was still in her flame form due to merging with her forged beast “this is your doing isn’t it”.
“I didn’t expect to meet someone capable of using runes up here”He sounded more amused than angry maybe even a bit excited.
Vivian’s eyes widened in surprise. She had used the opportunity created when he swung his sword aiming to cut off her head, to drop her Phoenix’s energy signature in the sword.
Since the veins/lines on his sword extended to his entire body (except his head), it was easy to leave detonation spot all over its body.
She just needed some distractions so that the primal didn’t notice the energy moving through it and the others perfectly provided that.
The only problem was that he wasn’t supposed to notice them but that didn’t matter.
“It doesn’t matter that you’ve noticed them,” she said firmly. “There’s no way to remove them without my permission.”
“Quite the contrary” Malrath replied “this isn’t my first time facing a rune user, so overcoming them is really easy”.
To prove his point, a flare of aura arose from him as he moved his energy, known as chaos energy gotten from his father, throughout its body.
Vivian suddenly felt the energy (runes) she placed in him fading, along with her flame form as the merging was somehow cutoff.
The Phoenix’s flame feathers going dull and it dropped to the ground, completely drained of its energy.
Blood poured out of her nose due to the abrupt cutoff and she felt lightheaded.
“Viv!” Max wanted to rush to her in concern. But he found out that he couldn’t move, none of them could “what the hell is happening?”.
“you see, recklessly marking someone with runes is really dangerous you know” Malrath chuckled “I just overrode your connection and forced your beast out of you”.
” You have really been annoying” He said as slowly started walking towards her, dragging his sword behind him.
“W-wait, you bastard” Max pleaded in desperation ” please don’t harm her”.
He forced himself to move to no avail, Alexander and all the other tamers tried the same with the same results, none of them could move a muscle.
“Don’t worry,” Malrath spoke in mockery . “I’ll send you to her later.”
Arriving in front of the still lightheaded Vivian, without any hesitation he stabbed the sword in her stomach.
“No!” Maximus screamed in horror.
“You monster, I’ll f*cking kill you” Alexander raged. His face twisted in anger.
Vivian looked down at the sword lodged in her stomach as she coughed blood. She then turned to her family before whispering “R-Reid”.
With that her body went limp and Malrath withdrew his sword, letting her body fall. He then took slow deliberate steps towards Maximus.
He was enjoying the pain, sorrow and rage on their faces. He raised his sword about his head, ready to cut down Maximus.
