Chapter 55: Malrath final: [subtitle at the end]

Reid’s eyes snapped opened, they had returned to their normal blue color showing that he was back to normal.

He was a little disoriented but felt himself being awkwardly carried and constantly moving.

He realized that he was being princess carried by none other than his mom’s maid who was also his nanny.

“Ellie?” He groaned out, still tired from taking on waves of primals, some even stronger than him, for 20 minutes straight.

Even if he was enjoying the slaughter at that moment, he didn’t have endless stamina and it quickly drained.

“Hang on young master, we’ll get to the hospital soon” Ellie said, seeing that he was now conscious.

“Where’s Mom?” He remembered seeing his mom’s face before completely blacking out.

“Mistress and the others are handling the remaining primals ” she answered.

“Put me down, I have to get back there.” Reid ordered. He didn’t know exactly how he would help but he planned on going back there.

“I’m sorry young master, but the Mistress asked me to make sure you reached the hospital” Ellie denied his request.

[You really do need to rest Reid, your body is only one exertion away from falling over] Evo said.

‘I’m fine Evo,’ he mentally spoke, but even he knew that he was only running on pure adrenaline right now. ‘Besides, we need to find a way to defeat or send Malrath back’.

Ellie wondered why he didn’t keep pressing to go back since that’s how he usually is, stubborn.

“Don’t worry young master, the Mistress will be fine” she knew that the mistress was the only one he cared enough about to worry.

Reid was still quiet, so she didn’t say anything else but he suddenly felt the weight in her hands disappear.

She looked down at her hands only to find Reid missing, which made her panic. Had she dropped him on the way? She turned back, hoping to find him on the ground but to no avail.

Ellie couldn’t be farther from the truth. Reid had used [copy] to copy Rusty’s ability [Skip]. He then proceeded to teleport to one of the buildings, making sure to stay away from Ellie’s sight.

“Sorry Ellie, I have to make sure Mom’s okay” he whispered from one of the buildings as he watched Ellie move in search of him.

He had been having this bad feeling since he gained consciousness and for some reason, he felt the need to make sure his mother was safe.

He then teleported towards the club since it wasn’t far from where Malrath was.

[Go to the summoning spot] Evo suddenly spoke up.

“Why?” Reid asked in confusion.

[We might find a way to send him back] she explained and Reid immediately teleported inside the hall and Evo started scanning it.

Maximus could only close his eyes in resignation, waiting for the sword to descend on him and sending him to his wife.

But before that could happen, a pillar of flames rose behind Malrath which made him turn around to observe the spectacle.

The flame pillar was caused by Vivian’s phoenix, right where her lifeless body lay.

The phoenix cried in sorrow and anger as it burnt the body into ashes. It then started burning itself and dove into the ashes, merging with it.

The spectacle stopped as soon as the phoenix was also turned into ashes and the pillar of flame fizzled out, leaving behind only a large pile of ashes.

Malrath squinted his eyes at the ashes before chuckling “and here I thought something interesting is about to happen”.

Since he sensed neither the presence of the phoenix, nor Vivian’s in the pile of ashes, he quickly lost interest and turned to finish Max off.

Max at this point was devastated. He couldn’t save his wife and now he didn’t have a body to bury either.

“I guess that’s for the best” he muttered to himself. At least when they’re all eventually killing by this monster, the beasts wouldn’t be able to devour his wife’s body.

He lowered his head, waiting for the sword to kiss it but he was destined to wait longer, since Malrath was back to observing the ashes.

“Why didn’t I sense this before?” Malrath curiously asked.

With his eyes revealed, there was no energy in the universe that was hidden from him but the reddish orange energy flowing into the ashes was hidden from him until just now.

“Interesting” he commented, earger to see what the results of whatever was happening now would be.

The ashes started glowing red, looking more and more like lava. Another pillar of flame shot up again and this time, it faded to reveal a humanoid figure made entirely of flames.

The figure’s eyes snapped open, revealing them to have golden irises that stared at Malrath in hatred.

“V-Viv?” Maximus asked in hope. Although the figure didn’t have any features resembling his wife he couldn’t help but hope.

The figure turned and gave him a smile of recognition before turning back to the amused Malrath.

“Ah, rebirth,just like a phoenix rising from the ashes” he said, a smirk playing on his lips. “I suppose you really don’t know when to quit.”

The figure’s expression remained unchanged as she continued staring at him.

“Let’s see how strong you became after fully merging with your beasts” he said and lunged at her with his sword.

He swung his sword at the still unmoving Vivian. It stopped a few inches from her, refusing to move any further, as if there was a barrier between them.

Her lips opened and for the first time, since she rose from the ashes, she muttered one word “weak”.

With that, aburst of flames suddenly exploded right in Malrath’s face sending him flying backwards.

Without giving him a chance to recover, flame wings came out of Vivian’s back and she blasted towards him leaving behind trails of flames.

A spear, made entirely of flames, suddenly appeared in her hand out of nowhere and she swiped at Malrath who was still in mid air, sending him flying in the opposite direction.

Malrath smashed through four buildings in rapid succession, each impact creating a cloud of dust and debris , before finally coming to a halt as he landed in the fifth, leaving a huge crater in it.

The dust cloud cleared up to reveal a standing Malrath but unlike before, his expression wasn’t of amusement but rage.

The attacks had greatly damaged both his scales, which till this point seemed absolute, and his unbeatable image.

“I’ll make you pay, you b*tch” Malrath raged, his face—which was bleeding glowing purple blood— was morphed in hatred “I’ll make sure to torture you and let my arm have their way with you until you beg for death.”

Vivian’s face remained unchanged even with all the threats being spouted by Malrath. She just pointed her flame spear at him and said.

“Come at me then”

The ground rumble as Malrath flared his aura and rushed at her again. This time Vivian blocked his attack barrage with her spear, countering here and there.

The remaining platinum rank tamers watched the battle in awe. They had regained their movements but they were afraid to intervene and for good reason too.

The speed of their attacks was untrackable by any of them so the chances that they could keep up was close to nil.

A kilometer (0.62 miles) away from the ongoing battle, Reid and Evo were still searching for a way to send Malrath’s fragment back.

[Push the weird looking stone in the wall] Evo said and Reid obliged.

He pressed the stone and with a rumble, the wall shifted to reveal another massive room.

[It’s here] Evo informed.

Reid then proceeded to walk into the room with was lit by some lamps producing hanging on the walls.

The room was mostly empty except for the cages at the sides and a huge round table in the middle with a pentagram drawn on it.

“I think we just found the people that went missing” he said looking at the cages.

In five of them had people inside and although they were barely breathing, they were still alive.

He summoned Nyx and Rusty who nuzzled against him in worry.

“I’m fine guys” he chuckled as he pet them “but we need to get these people to safety, can I leave that to you”.

“Squeak” Rusty replied as he and Nyx transformed to their bigger forms.

“Great, I’ll leave it to you then” he said as Evo informed that what they were looking for was on the table with the pentagram drawn on it.

He walked towards it and just as Evo said,there was a stone laying there but he didn’t know how this would help.

Reid picked up the purple stone with weird symbols on it and his answer quickly arrived in the form of Evo’s scan.

Ability: can be used to teleport anything back to its origin as long as a piece of the target’s DNA or part is placed on the stone.

Reid wondered why this was just conveniently laying here but he just shook his head and sent the stone to his inventory.

“Let’s go send that f*ckers back to whatever hell he came from”.
