Chapter 56: We’ll Be Ready

The fight between Malrath and Vivian raged on, with most of the surrounding environment completely demolished.

The only safe area was where the platinum rank tamers were because Vivian was actively redirecting Malrath’s attacks away from them.

The battle looked completely one sided, with Malrath’s tail missing and most of his scales broken off, his body covered in blood.

Vivian on the other hand looked untouched, her flames blazing as bright as ever but she knew the advantage she currently had would fade away in a few minutes, literally.

She was on a timer as her body couldn’t handle this much power for extended periods of time. She knew that she had to end the fight as soon as possible before the power faded.

Deciding to go all out, she summoned an arsenal of swords and spears, made of flames, midair. She then conjured flame chains that held down Malrath, preventing him from defending himself.

With a gesture of her hand, the flame weapons rained down on the restrained Malrath, raising clouds of smoke from both the flames and dust.

“That should do it, right?” Vivian whispered to herself. That attack had taken a lot from her and she could feel the presence of the phoenix within her slowly fading as her flames dimmed.

Before the smoke cloud could clearly up, a figure shot out from it and grabbed Vivian by the throat. He then proceeded to slam her into a building before flying up the air.

At this point, the flames on Vivian had completely faded revealing her unconscious form. Blood was dripping from her head and nose.

Malrath, who’s scales were completely burnt to a crisp at the point. He held her with his left hand since the right one had been completely burnt off.

“Viv!” Maximus shouted as he tried to rush towards them but Malrath’s power locked them in place again.

“Don’t f*cking move” Malrath warned, looking at him dead in the eye “you’ll be next soon enough”.

Max gritted his teeth in anger. This was the second time today that his wife was in danger and he couldn’t do anything about it.

Malrath turned back to the unconscious Vivian “where the f*ck is all your cockiness now b*tch?”.

His confident and mocking speech pattern long abandoned. His voice was now filled only with rage.

“Even with all that power, you’ll still die by my hands” He said applied more pressure to her neck aiming to crush it.

“Get your f*cking hands off my mom”

Before Malrath could register what was happening. A sword with a layer of golden light stabbed into his left eyes, forcing him to release his grip on Vivian.

Reid arrived at the site of destruction and immediately spotted Malrath floating in mid air, holding his mother by the neck.

His entire vision turned red and so did his eyes. His vision immediately narrowed on Malrath as anger like never before filled him.

He quickly used Rusty’s [skip] ability to teleport just above Malrath.

“Get your f*cking hands off my mom” he shouted and descended towards him, while using [energy coating] on his sword as he aimed for one of his eyes.

He managed to stab Malrath’s eye, causing him to loosen his grip on Vivian’s neck. Reid then summoned Beel who quickly caught his falling and slowly descended with her.

Reid then teleported again to Malrath who was screaming in pain at its destroyed eye.

With a swift motion, Reid lodged the purple stone in its, teleported to an almost falling tall building and said “activate it Evo”.

[Roger] Evo answered and the stone began glowing from within Malrath’s eye.

A purple portal opened behind Malrath and started pulling him in. He then realized what was happening but it was too late.

“DO YOU THINK YOU’VE WON?” His voice came out distorted but Reid remained unphased. His red eyes, filled with anger, locked with Malrath’s remaining eye.

“Yes, we have” Reid answered, his tone cold.

“IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE FATHER CONSUMES THE WORLD BELOW AND COMES FOR YOURS” He threatened “WHEN THAT TIME ARRIVES, I’LL MAKE SURE YOU AND YOUR MOM DIES THE MOST PAINFUL WAY POSSIBLE “.

“We’ll be ready by then” Reid answered and with that, the portal swallowed Malrath.

Reid then teleported down, towards his unconscious mom who was now being held by Maximus.

Reid’s red eyes locked with Max’s and tension rose for a while before Max sighed and said “she’ll be fine, I’ll take her to the hospital”.

This was the first time in years he had spoken to Reid without mentioning the word failure or even spoke with disgust.

Reid wanted to say something but a voice from behind interrupted him.

“There you are young master”.

Ellie, completely out of breath, had somehow managed to find him.

[You need to take a rest now Reid] Evo adviced.

“I’m Fin-” before he could complete his words, he saw the world spin and he felt himself falling.

“Oh” was the only thing he said before blacking out for the third time today. Luckily Ellie was fast enough to catch him before he could hit the ground.

Ellie looked at the unconscious Reid in her hands and raised her eyes to look at her mistress’s husband who was carrying his wife while looking at them.

Ellie quickly bowed her head, ready move the young master to the nearest hospital since she knew that none of the other members of the Fletcher family would care enough to offer help.

“You can bring him to the mansion with us”

Her eyes widened in surprise, hearing his words but when she raised her head, he had already turned and was seated with Alex on his three headed dog.

“Nathan should be back at the mansion by now,” Alex informed and Max nodded.

“Head to the mansion then” he said and the Cerberus started running towards the other side of the city.

Not to be left behind, Ellie summoned her own forged-beast —a Gold-tier hawk— and mounted it. She also headed towards the mansion.

Gareth was the next to leave, heading towards his granddaughter’s direction.

They all left behind the one armed Gabriel who looked at the destruction caused by the fight once more.

“What in the world is coming for us?” He muttered as he also flew away on his forged beast.
