Chapter 58: A Dream Of The Past final: First Kill

Line arrived at the cave and gently placed Lisa in the cave floor.

“Why do they even want you dead?” He asked himself, observing her innocent looking face.

“Doesn’t matter, as long as I get promoted to the main family, nothing else matters” he said.

With a groan, Lisa slowly opened her eyes which cleared up and she saw Line standing in front of her.

“W-what’s happening?” She stuttered as she hurriedly moved back until her back touched a cave wall “W-where am I? Where’s Reid?”.

Line placed his finger on his lips as he shushed her “don’t worry princess, this’ll be over before you even notice anything.”

Lisa could feel her skin crawl and tear welled up in her eyes.

“Reid, help” she muttered in fear causing Line to laugh.

“Your little knight won’t come to save you” he said “he might have already died to the primal he was fighting by now.”

He started slowly approaching her, savoring her fear with a grin on his face. This wouldn’t be his first time taking someone’s life and their fear was always the satisfying part of the job.

Lisa’s back pressed against the wall, trapping her with no where to go. Her heart pounded in fear and her eyes were wide in fear.

Worst of all, if Reid has died just as he said then that meant no one was coming to save her since she didn’t register anyone else’s energy in the ring.

“P-please stop” she pleased with no much hope.

“Okay,” Line suddenly stopped moving towards her and made a motion of returning his dagger.

Lisa’s hope rose again before all of it was shattered when she saw his creepy grin.

“You really thought I’d stop just because you asked?” He mocked and continued walking towards her.

He squatted on his legs, coming to her eye level. He then placed the dagger on her cheek and drew a bit of blood.

“I almost regret killing you” he spoke “almost.”

He raised his without hesitationhand to stab her and Lisa closed her eyes, waiting for the pain which never came.

“What the f*ck do you think you’re doing to her?” A voice which she recognized spoke up and her eyes immediately snapped open.

She spotted Reid tightly gripping Line’s hand that held the dagger.

Line suddenly dropped the dagger and caught it with his free hand and without saying anything, the stabbed Reid in his left broken arm.

“Argh” Reid screamed in pain as Line twisted the dagger inside his hand.

“Reid!” Lisa shouted in worry.

“I was aiming for your heart but I guess you got lucky” Line smirked as he stood up, with his dagger still lodged in Reid’s hand “you won’t be so lucky—”.

He was interrupted by a headbutt from Reid which broke his nose and forced him to let go of the knife.

Reid then proceeded to remove the knife stabbed in his hand and discarded it to the side as the wound started bleeding.

He quickly picked his bat from the floor and slammed it into one of Line’s hands but before he could go for a follow-up, Line kicked the bat out of his hand and sent it rolling on the floor.

“You should’ve just died to the primal” Line said to Reid “now you’ll die in much more pain than the primal would havemade you feel.”

Reid ignored his words and kept dodging his punches. He also tried punching Line but he was horribly unbalanced due to his broken hand so he could only throw awkward punches.

“Stop dodging you annoying brat” Line spat out. Reid’s constantly dodges were getting on this nerves.

He slammed himself into Reid and tackled him to the floor. He then started raining punches on Reid’s face which he could barely block with his only good hand.

“You really think you can stop me” Lines asked still raining punches on Reid’s face “you think you’re some kind of hero?”.

“I’ll just kill you and then kill her next” he said as he moved his hand to Reid’s neck as started choking him.

Reid struggled to push him off to no avail so he used his unbroken hand to search the floor beside him for anything that would help.

His hand landed on a metallic object and without getting a chance to think about it since he was quickly suffocating, he jammed the object into Line’s head hoping to knock him off.

Time seemed to slow down for the three as Reid hit Line’s head with a small metallic object. Reid looked to see that he was holding Line’s dagger that he had buried deep in his head.

The look in Line’s eyes was one filled with horror. He hadn’t expected a dagger to be stabbed in his head but before he could say anything, his eyes went blank and his body dropped on Reid with blood coming out of the wound.

Reid pushed the body off and quickly rushed back feeling horrified at what he just did. His entire body was now covered in both his and Line’s blood.

His hand trembled as the weight of the dagger suddenly became unbearable. His eyes flickered between the lifeless body and his blood filled hands.

“Did I..?” He knew the answer to his question. He had just taken the life of another human.

He was used to killing primals but this was his first time killing a human and everytime he blinked, he would see Line’s vacant eyes staring right at him.

The ringing sound in his ears was getting louder and louder by the second, until a pair of arms wrapped around him.

“It’ll be fine” Lisa comforted as she hugged the bloody Reid.

Lisa was sitting in the corner unable to move and was completely horrified when Reid stabbed Line.

Although Reid had just save her, she hesitated to go close to him due to fear of what he just did.

But the expression on Reid’s face showed that he would break at any moment, so even though she was terrified, she found the courage to be moved close to him and hug him.

“It’ll be fine” she comforted.
