The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 65

Chapter 65: The Phoenix Lady.

The training hall was more of a coliseum than a hall although it was not too big.

There was a platform in the middle of the hall, big enough to hold at least fifty people at a time. The chairs were arranged in a circular form around the platform.

They were arranged in such a way that even someone sitting at the back would get a clear view of the platform.

Reid, Vivian and Ellie stood in the middle of the platform as Vivian held a tablet which acted as a control panel for the training hall.

Reid stood still, curious about what Vivian was going to show them since Evo already informed him of the merging.

With a few taps on the screen, the training hall disappeared, the seats around them were no more in sight and they were currently in an open field.

If someone was observing from on of the seats, they would see a forcefield covering the platform and several lights pointed in it to create the holographic scene Reid and the rest were currently seeing.

The most fascinating thing about the forcefield was its ability to stretch the space around them. No matter how much the ones in the platform walked, as long as the forcefield was activated, they would never reach the edge.

Vivian handed the console to Ellie and stepped back a bit.

“Ready?” She asked.

Reid and Ellie nodded their heads in anticipation of what she was going to do.

She proceeded to close her eyes and when she opened them next, they were glowing orange/golden instead of the usual blue.

Her golden blonde hair also starting glowing before it started waving around, like flames in the wind.

She was then surrounded by a pillar of flames before they quickly died down, revealing her hair on fire and her irises glowing more intensely.

“What do you think?” She asked with a grin.

Both Reid and Ellie had their eyes widen in surprise. They weren’t there when she transformed during the fight against Malrath so this was their first time seeing her on flames that were not hurting her.

“That’s….. incredible” was the only thing Reid could say in his surprise.

“Ellie, give me some enemies to fight and set them at platinum rank” Vivian turned to Ellie and commanded “let’s see what I can really do.”

“Yes Mistress”

Ellie started tapping on the console in her hand and three holographic beasts started taking shape. A couple of seconds later they had already taken shape and looked no different from real primals.

Even the aura they exuded was no different from a real platinum tier primal.

“Okay, now step back a bit” Vivian said as she summoned a spear made of flames.

As soon as the two complied, she lunged forward at the primals, leaving a trail of flames behind her.

Maximus walked out of the meeting room with a light frown on his face.

“Those old fools were a lot harder to deal with” he muttered “but at least I achieved something out of it.”

The meeting hadn’t gone as he’d hoped but he was able to get them to accept Reid back in the family and that was a start.

Alexander walked by him since, as the next head of the family, he was required to attend the council meetings to familiarize himself with the proceedings.

His face remained neutral, his thoughts unknown to anyone but him and maybe his father.

“What do you want to ask?” Maximus spoke to Alexander as they walked out of the room.

Although his son’s facial expression rarely changed, he could read Alex like an open book and right now, he could tell Alex had a question he wanted to ask.

Alexander hesitated for a while before asking “why are you trying so hard to get Reid back in the family?”

“Even if he did get a little stronger, he’s still a weakling”.

Maximus sighed. Alexander’s mindset was all his fault. He taught them to see anyone weaker than them as beneath them and he had to fix that.

“You were there weren’t you?” Maximus started “you saw how your mother would have died again were it not for Reid.”

Alexander went quiet but his father knew what was going on in his mind.

“I know you might think that he got lucky” Maximus said “But you also felt his blood lust this morning didn’t you?”

“Reid is stronger than we all think” Maximus completed “besides, I think it’s time our family was complete again, just like your mother wanted.”

Alexander retreated into his thoughts as he continued walking by his father’s side. The butler suddenly appeared by their side.

“What is it?” Maximus asked, since the butler only ever appeared when summoned or had something to report.

“The Mistress is awake” He informed.

“I see. Where is she?” Maximus asked. Hearing that Vivian was awake made him sigh in relief.

“She’s currently in the training hall with young master Reid and Ellie ” the butler replied and Maximus nodded as he headed towards the training hall “and where’s Nathan?”.

“Young master Nathan is currently in the virtual room, blowing off some steam” the butler informed.

Nathan had been feeling utterly defeated seeing that even his younger brother was now apparently stronger than him, so he decided to rage in the virtual world.

He was by no means weak, as he was considered a genius among his peers but being stuck between two monsters, he called brothers didn’t do well for his esteem.

Worst of all, the one he considered no more than a failure two years ago, had become stronger than him even though he was a rank higher than the ‘failure’.

“Fetch him for me” Maximus ordered and the butler disappeared again with a bow.

He needed his entire family together, for Vivian’s sake.

He walked into the training hall to a scene he didn’t expect. Vivian, whose hair was burning, was engaged in battle with two primals with the third disintegrating into holographic shards.

He also spotted Reid and Ellie on the platform with her but he couldn’t join them since the forcefield was up, so he decided to sit down on one of the seats with Alexander as he watched the ongoing battle.

On the platform,

Vivian continued battling with the remaining two platinum tier primals without even breaking a sweat.

Reid and Ellie were surprised by the ease at which she took down the primals. No tamer had ever done what she was currently doing, fighting multiple platinum tier primals without the aid of a forged beast.

But this was to be expected since she could dominate Malrath’s shard (even if he was incomplete) with an incomplete (phoenix) form and also, she was not a tamer anymore, a fact still unknown even to her.

One of the primals, a wolf like creature, lunged and swiped its claws at her but she easily evaded the attack and swiped her spear at its mid section.

The spear didn’t go deep enough to cut the wolf in half but it was enough to severely injure it.

The wolf let out a whimper of pain as it landed away from her. The second primal, a lizard-like creature with thick scales, took the opportunity to attack.

Not intending to get close to Vivian, it swung its tail, which extended more than normal, at her.

Vivian avoided the tail and swiped her spear at it. The spear went through the tail like hot knife through butter and seperated its tail.

Vivian turned to Ellie, who was still holding the console in her hands, and said “allow them to use their skills”.

Subconsciously, her hands moved to tap the console even before her brain could recover from its current surprise.

The lizard’s tail suddenly regrew and the cut on the wolf’s midsection healed.

With a sudden hop, a huge hole opened beneath Vivian when the lizard jumped and landed.

To prevent herself from falling in, she created wings made of flames at her back. She suddenly swiped her spear as they collided with the claw of the wolf.

The primal teleported back seeing that its surprise attack didn’t work.

Vivian on the other hand had a smirk on her face. She was no battle junkie but ever since she and her phoenix merged, she has been feeling more and more like one.

“That’s more like it” she commented while looking at the two “show me all you’ve got”.

The primals did as she expected and more. The primals started working together, seeing it as the only way they could win against such a monster.

The lizard threw a boulder at her but before she could slice it in half, it disappeared, reappearing in her blind spot.

Seeing that she couldn’t block the boulder, she wrapped her flaming wings as it crashed into her, burying her in the hole below.

“Mom!” “Mistress!”

Both Reid and Ellie shouted out in worry, seeing the attack connecting.
