The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 94
Chapter 94: Titan Bear Vs Gravity Tiger
Reid and the others followed Garrick through the door, and they were immediately greeted with an extremely huge room.
The walls were white, and they reflected the hexagon lights but that wasn’t what drew the attention of the five.
Lined on the walls were massive mechanical arms that helped automate the assembling process.
There were multiple workstations in the forge, and each had holographic schematics hovering above it, displaying blueprints of past and ongoing projects.
Garrick’s clap snapped their attention back to him.
“Alright kid, you get one shot. Pick your materials and make something worth calling a forged beast” He said “and remember, if yours can’t last at least five minutes against mine, you lose.”
The old man then proceeded to point him towards one of the materials tables and Reid walked towards it. His eyes scanned through different cores, alloys and blueprints before finally making his choice.
[Do you need any help?] Evo asked although she already knew what his answer was.
‘It’s fine Evo, I want to do this by myself’ Reid answered as he finalized his selection.
The blueprint he selected was for a feline-like creature that had the ability to control gravity, so he proceeded to choose a gold-tier primal gravity core, a lightweight but dense alloy, and finally some fibers before he moved to the workstations.
“Interesting picks” Garrick commented as he also randomly picked up a blueprint for a gold-tier forged beast and moved towards a separate workstation to start working.
Reid immediately started working on the forged beast.
The workstation came alive as he activated the assembly interface. Holographic projections displayed step-by-step instructions, but he barely glanced at them—his mind was already two steps ahead.
He began with the chassis, melting down the lightweight yet dense alloy and shaping it into a sleek, feline frame.
The liquid metal glowed a brilliant white before cooling rapidly under controlled conditions. Using high-precision laser tools, he carefully carved out the exoskeletal structure, ensuring flexibility without compromising durability.
Next came the fiber integration. The specialized fibers he selected were designed to enhance energy conductivity and structural cohesion. He wove them through the skeletal frame, reinforcing joints and muscle-like structures to mimic the fluidity of a real feline’s movements.
Then, the most delicate part—embedding the Gravity Core.
Reid carefully placed the golden-hued core into the central compartment of the beast’s chest. The moment it locked into place, a ripple of energy pulsed through the forge.
The more his hands moved, the more absorbed he got in forging. Although this was a lot harder than doing it with Evo in the forge lab, he was enjoying the process.
Minutes passed without Reid’s notice, then an hour before finally, Reid stepped back, wiping the sweat from his brows as he looked at his creation with a proud smile.
The only other time he had gotten this feeling was when he created Axie, and he enjoyed that feeling every single time.
Before him stood a feline with a midnight black fur with silver streaks running through it.
Its eyes glowed with a deep violet hue. The air around it seemed to be distorted as power radiated off it. The result was exactly as Reid had imagined and he was proud of it.

Evo scanned the forged beast before a small panel on the workstation flickered to life and displayed the same stats.
Garrick let out a low whistle as he approached. “Looks like you really put in the effort. I’ll give you credit for not half-assing it but let’s see if it can last long against mine”.
With a flick of his hand, Garrick activated his own creation. The forge’s floor rumbled as the forged beast came to life.
In front of them stood a hulking quadrupedal beast, with white fur that some glowing orange lines running underneath it. It eyes also glowed a menacing orange hue as it stepped forward.
Evo scanned as it approached.

“Think your forged beast can last against mine?” Garrick asked with a proud smirk on his face.
Reid’s eyes narrowed as he read through the Titan Bear’s abilities. It was a tank in every sense of the word but his Gravity Tiger, on the other hand, was built for speed and control.
If he played this right, he could wear down Garrick’s beast without taking too much damage.
And he couldn’t allow it to activate its domain, if not the fight will be over before he knew it.
Reid took a deep breath, steadying himself as he placed a hand on the Gravity Tiger’s sleek frame. A familiar surge of connection passed through him as he bonded with the forged beast.
“Alright, let’s do this,” he muttered.
Garrick grinned and took a few steps back.
With a wave of his hand, the floor beneath them split apart, revealing an arena specifically designed for forged beast combat.
“That’s pretty cool” Ethan couldn’t help but comment.
“The old man just likes showing off,” Owen commented with a yawn. “He has another arena on the other side of the shop.”
“You think Reid’s forged beast will win?” Clara whispered to Lisa as they observed the arena forming in the lab.
Lisa’s answered. “I believe in him.”
“Reid is strong, but I don’t think his forged beast can last five minutes against the old man’s,” Owen said. “Garrick is the best forgemaster in the military—he’s had years of experience.”
The small arena finished forming and a barrier covered it as soon as Garrick’s and Reid’s new forged beast walked in.
{Combat Simulation Activated}
The two beasts stood across each other in the battle arena, with the bear standing on its two feet to make itself appear bigger.
The tiger, on the other hand, started growling as the violet hue in its eyes shone brighter.
[Begin] Ember announced.
The tiger vanished from its position, almost as if it teleported. One moment, it was standing a few feet away from the bear and the other, it was behind it.
The bear instantly reacted as it slammed its paws on the floor activating [Seismic Slam], sending shockwaves and debris across the arena.
The Gravity Tiger barely managed to twist its body mid-air, using [Weightless] to counteract the force of the tremors.
It landed gracefully on a floating piece of debris it had subtly lifted with [Gravity Shift].
“Not bad” Garrick commented as he observed the fight, he seemed slightly impressed but didn’t show much of it.
The Titan Bear the dropped to its four legs and charged at its opponent, but the tiger was prepared for its attack.
As soon as the bear got close enough, it lunged at the tiger ready to bite into it but out of nowhere, a force slammed into it, sending its massive frame barreling backwards.
The tiger had used [Gravity burst] on the bear which sent it flying backwards.
The bear rose back up, looking barely hurt but a lot more pissed. It did not take kindly into being sent flying like a ragdoll and the intensified glow under its fur and its eyes showed it.
With a growl, the floor around it started turning red as visible waves of heat rose from it. The heat quickly spread through the floor and approached the tiger.
The tiger activated [Gravity shift] which allowed it to float just above the floor, avoiding the attack.
But the temperature was rising rapidly, and if it wasn’t careful, it would start sustaining damage just from the heat alone.
Reid’s forged beast seemed to be having a easy time keeping its distance and attacking Garrick’s own, but the longer the fight went on, the stronger the bear got.
And Reid also knew it had a domain advantage, which would make this fight a lot harder for the Gravity tiger.
‘The kid’s done a pretty good job’ Garrick commented in his mind.
Creating a gold tier forged beast in one try was nothing short of genius. Without tons of experience like he had, it was impossible to create high ranked forged beasts in the first few tries but the kid did just that.
With just the information the kid had, Garrick was already considering taking him in as an apprentice. However, he needed to see if Reid truly had forging experience—and the kid had proven his skills.
Whether or not Reid’s forged beast lasted the full five minutes against Garrick’s own, he had already made his decision. He was going to take him in as an apprentice.
