The SSS Ranked Villain's Return - Chapter 138
Chapter 138: Compatibility
“Here it is, boss,” the Sovereign of Gluttony stated, handing over a glowing black orb, while the others did the same, each orb varying in size.
The Eternal Sin nodded and pointed toward a ledge. “Good, you all go now.”
“Can I stay?”
As that voice resounded, his body immediately tensed, and as he turned to the side, the same beautiful woman’s face from earlier greeted him.
However, that beauty was nothing but a mask; deep down, she was nothing but a vile bitch.
“You, in particular, can jump first. Leave me alone,” the Eternal Sin stated, and without waiting for the protests, he began walking up the palace’s stairs.
The glowing black orbs spun in his palm, and soon, they merged into one before finally flying toward his heart.
Immediately, a few system messages appeared.
<Authority of the 99th floor has been regained.>
<Record: Fragment of Eternal Sin ###>
<Body Compatibility: 11%>
The Eternal Sin’s eyes widened. “What? 11%? The last one was 91%. Just what could have happened?”
Seems like you pulled the short end of the straw by taking over my body, Neraxis taunted.
“Aka, come down here. Now.” The Eternal Sin said, and not even a moment later, a slim girl appeared, floating right before him.
“You called?” she asked softly.
“Recalculate,” he ordered. With a sigh, she floated closer to him and placed a hand on his forehead.
<Administrator – Akashic Records has started intensive recalculation!>
<ETA: 5 Minutes>
[It just did not make sense.] The Eternal Sin commented. [I went through so much effort to come back, yet your body did not have the capabilities to hold me. I believe you can understand my frustration.]
I would much rather prefer you tried doing this to some other person. Why did it have to be me? Neraxis lashed out, hatred clear in his tone. You killed everyone I loved, all the actual friends I’ve made, and in the end, you’re eating shit. Serves you right.
[Hahaha, I guess you are correct. It was a foresight on my part to expect the other Sins to do as they are told. They just had to rehash the same person over and over again,] he stated. [Alas, I am showing this to you since your body will be mine again, just like it always should have been.]
We’ll see about that. Neraxis replied, and the timer soon struck 0.
<Extensive Calculations Complete!>

“Looks like it’s not your day, Lagus,” Aka said with a chuckle. “Oh, sorry. I forgot we’re not supposed to be using your actual name here.”
“What’s done is done,” the Eternal Sin, Lagus, scoffed. “How much time do I have left?”
“Not long… A day? Two if you’re lucky,” Aka added. “It’s a pity for us to see you gone so soon.”
Yet Lagus simply narrowed his eyes. “Who says I’ll be dying? I can find a new host within a few hours.”
She shook her head. “You can’t. Your possession skill is on cooldown.”
“And who is the one controlling the skills? You, Aka. Remove the cooldown,” Lagus ordered.

“I can’t do that, and you know it,” she replied reluctantly. “If I were to do that, I’d be killed, you’d be killed… And this entire tower would be destroyed, meaning you’d have no gate of passage between the worlds anymore.”
“So what? Who cares about that ruined world?” he asked with a raised brow.
But upon noticing her fidgeting, he couldn’t shake the bad feeling in his gut.
“Aka, what did you do?”
“You see… In order to bring you back… They combined every single tower in all of the worlds and made a single one that connects everywhere. If even one is destroyed, it might collapse each and every single tower across all the worlds,” she trailed off. “But only you and the Sovereigns have such power, which is why I must implore you not to do this.”
A massive frown spread across Lagus’s face. “So let me get this straight. Those idiots combined every single world, and if you use your rightful authority, it will backfire and destroy the tower. Are you kidding me?”
Neraxis was thoroughly amused by this exchange. It felt quite satisfying.
“That is right. There is nothing you can do, Lagus. I’d recommend simply enjoying the last few days you have,” Aka said worriedly. “I have to go now. The other administrators are growing suspicious.”
“Wai—” His words were interrupted by her sudden disappearance, leaving him dazed.
[Now, at this point, you might be thinking, I’m screwed, right?] The Eternal Sin, Lagus, said.
Neraxis inwardly rolled his eyes. Obviously not if you’re still talking to me.
[Hahaha! That is true,] Lagus laughed before suddenly growing serious. [I will speed it up a bit.]
As his words fell, time once again sped up as the Eternal Sin raced throughout the palace—seemingly slept, ate, and sat on a hill, almost as though he wanted to take his own life.
But he didn’t, merely staying still for hours on end until eventually, a system message fell.
<Body Compatibility: 0%>
<Critical ERROR! The user ‘Lagus Destine’ is going to face immediate ejection in: 24 hours!>
<23:59:59>
<23:59:58>
“Pfft…” Lagus chuckled to himself, finding the situation hilarious.
However, that was only for a moment, as in the next, he decided to act.
“You were Neraxis Valen, a relatively strong person and a good host if nurtured perfectly…” He grew silent, taking a glance at one of his skills.
[Rebirth {EX} (One-time use)]
[Skill Effects (1/1): Allows the user to traverse time to a selected date in the past.][Note: If the time exceeds the user’s lifespan, the skill is deemed invalid.]
This is…?
[The skill you used to return, correct,] Lagus added. [Now then, it should happen any moment now.]
At his words, Neraxis grew tense.
Yet as the moments passed and nothing happened, he grew hesitant.
Nonetheless, that hesitance did not last long, as in the very next moment, Lagus jumped up before dashing to one side of this floor.
Neraxis was unable to track the movements and only noticed that they had arrived before what seemed to be a gate.
Soon, Lagus placed his hand on it, and what greeted his sight were several system messages.
<Warning! Entering the 100th floor is forbidden!>
<Any attempt to do so will result in immediate termination!>
“Is that so,” Lagus mused out loud before suddenly bringing his foot down onto the door, sending cracks spiraling all across.
It did not take long for it to fall to tatters, and with that came another message.
<What are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed?>
“Aka, I am not in the mood for playing games, and I would suggest both you and the remaining administrators don’t interfere. I want to see what is on the 100th floor.”
[You see, I’ve heard myths of there being something mystical on the 100th floor, and quite frankly, I held out hope that maybe, just maybe, it would allow me to survive,] Lagus commented. [But of course, there were a few thorns in my path.]
So this is just your final moments type of deal? Neraxis asked impatiently. Did you find what you were looking for?
After a moment of silence, Lagus replied, [I did. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but it sure was an interesting discovery.]
What was it?
[Wouldn’t you like to know?] Lagus scoffed. [We have all the time in the world, Neraxis. Time does not move under my control.]
Feeling the ominous air, Neraxis was about to speak but was interrupted.
[But of course, I won’t hold you hostage here. I’ll give you a system log each time you advance in power. You managed to get much stronger so quickly. Therefore, take whatever you are about to see as a bonus.]
At those words, time resumed, and Lagus moved forward.
<Welcome to the 100th floor, Branch of ###>
As the system notification appeared and Neraxis glanced past it, the sight ahead made him speechless.
What the fuck is this?
