Chapter 213: A Small Brawl With The Overseer
“Done? I haven’t done anything,” Neraxis replied with a frown. “You’ve been on my ass ever since the trial began. Is there something you want from me?”
The overseer’s brows furrowed. “You’ve been on the boundary of the rules ever since you first entered his tower. Now, you somehow left it, and then came back. That was all without our God’s permission.”
<The Sun God waves their hands around frantically, saying they don’t mind!>
“Do you see that?” Neraxis pointed to the message. “They clearly don’t mind.”
“What message?” the overseer asked furiously before simply shaking their head. “I believe I’ve given you enough chances to act like a normal person, so it’s time I take matters into my own hands.”
As the overseer’s words fell, Neraxis immediately jumped back, dodging some sort of invisible attack that shattered the ground in two.
Due to the slightly different gravity, all the debris flew upward before landing on some of the climbers’ stations.
But not on Liza’s, who still seemed immersed in crafting the scythe.
<Sylas, The Overseer of the Sun God, has marked you for dead!>
<Mark of the Sun: No matter where the user tries to run, they will always be visible to the being, Sylas, so long as the user is under the sun.>
“This seems like some bullshit hatred, don’t you think?” Neraxis asked, amused.
The overseer was definitely strong, but if Neraxis went all out, then beating him would definitely be possible.
“I despise those who make light of the Sun God’s inheritance,” Sylas shot back, before stretching his hand out.
As he did, a scythe manifested—looking eerily similar to the one they were forced to craft.
<The Sun God kicks their bed in anger because of Sylas who is twisting their words!>
[It looks like only you’re able to see those messages,] Evangeline remarked.
However, he could hear her chewing.
Are you eating again…? Wait… Neraxis looked down, noticing a particular dimensional ring gone.
[Hehe, well, I might’ve snagged it off your finger while you were sleeping… surprise?] Evangeline replied sheepishly, making him let out a sigh.
I’ll deal with you later, so be prepared.
With that, he turned his gaze back to Sylas.
Clearing conditions were unknown, but if Neraxis were to kill him here and now, then it was natural the trial would end.
Probably.
“For the last time, Sylas. You’re the one who was stupid enough to not clarify the rules, so I simply took advantage of the loopholes. If you still want to kill me now, then—”
His words were cut off when the scythe shot out, releasing a golden fiery arc toward him, which Neraxis sidestepped, and finally pulled out his own sword.
“So be it,” he replied, turning serious.
In the very next moment, Neraxis decided to attack by merely spreading out his domain and casting {Eve of Ruin: Mark of Destruction}.
It wasn’t something he used often, as he was a bit hesitant to use the skill which could bring back the Eternal Sin.
Nonetheless, this situation called for it.
Sylas’s brows furrowed, however, instead of saying anything more, he suddenly disappeared, reappearing right behind Neraxis.

Sylas sent the scythe straight at his neck, but Neraxis—almost as if prepared for it—sent a backward kick, which connected straight with Sylas’s abdomen, sending him flying.
There was also one thing Neraxis noticed, and that was…
Blinking, Neraxis reappeared in front of Sylas—the same way Sylas had done.
It seemed now he didn’t even need his Domain to teleport, so long as he was under the sun.
This Sun Vampire stuff really is something… I can’t wait to explore the possibilities, Neraxis thought with a smile, as he sent a jab toward Sylas’s face.
However, Sylas wasn’t an amateur, so with a mere duck, he sent a leg sweep toward Neraxis—who took a step backward to dodge.
Of course, Sylas followed up with his scythe, which he cleaved right at Neraxis as he moved.
But that didn’t do much, as Neraxis raised his foot upward and brought it down—smacking the scythe on the ground and making Sylas’s balance stumble for a moment.
That moment was enough, as Neraxis brought the full brunt of his {Expert Stab} and {Atomic Stab} down on Sylas.
To his surprise, Sylas managed to narrowly dodge in time by teleporting, but that wasn’t without damage, as he was now missing his right arm.
It all happened so fast that Neraxis made sure {Aura of the Abyss} would finish him off, however, that was sadly not the case as Sylas cut off the decaying part of his arm.
“You’re pretty good, though you suck at fighting with a scythe,” Neraxis commented, making Sylas’s brows furrow.
“How are you able to cut me? I get that you underwent some sort of transformation, but how did you close the distance? Are you using some outside powers?” Sylas asked, trying to regenerate his arm.
However, it was impossible for the time being, as one of the effects of his marks—and especially the Decaying debuff—was the disabling of healing.
“I didn’t even use mana to dodge your strikes. For someone so strong, I’d assume you would have some experience, however, you’re nothing but an overconfident fraud,” Neraxis said with a chuckle, making Sylas snap.
In the very next moment, Sylas dashed in, retrieved his scythe, and swung it in an arc, attempting to cleanly sever Neraxis’s head.
However, just like Sylas had caught his attack with a single finger earlier, Neraxis did the same.
After all, with only one hand, the scythe attack was nothing but a desperate attempt.
“It’s over, Sylas,” Neraxis announced, as he yanked the scythe out of Sylas’s hand and threw it to the side.
But just as Neraxis thought it was over, a smile appeared on Sylas’s face—when all of a sudden, Neraxis was sent flying into the sky.
As Neraxis processed what had just happened, the scythe was sent upward—traveling straight for him.
He sent it aside with his sword, and Neraxis stared down at Sylas a bit more warily now.
I wasn’t able to see that attack, he thought with a frown.
Soon, he realized why.
<You’ve been caught in a high-level domain!>
<Sylas, The Overseer of the Sun God, has activated the Killing Domain!>
<Each attack dealt within the barrier is fatal!>
Fatal? Neraxis furrowed his brows.
His abdomen did feel a bit off, and as he looked down…
Oh.
His whole lower body was missing—but instead of panicking, Neraxis focused on the solar rays and sent them down his body.
Not even a moment later, his legs and everything else regrew, same as before.
But this fight would get more dangerous from here on out.
Or so he thought, until all of a sudden, the sun, which had been brightly shining in the distance, suddenly let out a blue pulse, making Neraxis disoriented as he fell to the ground.
The same applied to Sylas, who straight-up passed out on the spot, dropping to the ground face-first.
Of course, the climbers were no exception, and even Liza fell—ironically finishing the scythe in time.
Neraxis looked around, slightly confused at what had just happened—when all of a sudden, a figure entered his sight.
They were completely featureless, with only the golden fiery light surrounding them with blue fire glowing in place of eyes.
But almost as if by instinct, Neraxis knew who this was.
…It was definitely not because of the messages that popped up.
<The Sun God has made their presence known!>
<Spectral God Form Encountered!>
<Your Soul is in danger!>
Neraxis’s brows twitched at the last part, but before he could speak, another message popped up.
<The Sun God says they sent down a copy of them downstairs, and that it won’t hurt your soul. However, they would greatly appreciate it if you don’t kill Sylas the idiot.>
“Sure. Can you remove the mark?” Neraxis asked with a tilt of his head.
The featureless being in front nodded at him before snapping their fingers.
<Mark of the Sun has been removed!>
Neraxis nodded in appreciation before glancing around, slightly puzzled.
“So what now?”
At those words, the featureless being began walking up to him before stretching their hand out.
<The Sun God offers a short conversation before the remaining climbers wake up. They say, since this is off-record, you must make up your mind fast, as this is against the rules.>
<Would you like to enter the 11th floor, Sun God’s Abode?>
<Yes/No>
Neraxis let out an exhausted sigh as he reached for the featureless being’s hand.
“I accept.”
