Chapter 222: Killing The First Protector
The moment silence ensued, Neraxis decided to make the first move.
He dashed forward, swung his sword down, and before the old man could intercept, performed a feint and stretched out his hand.
Just as his hand was about to make contact, it was severed clean off.
Neraxis didn’t panic, as with the blood that spurted out, he made another grenade.
<1x Blood Constructs Summoned! Type: Utility—Sun Grenade>
It was much weaker than the last since he didn’t provide it with much blood, but despite that, it was enough to get the old man to finally show a slightly surprised expression as he leaped away.
But Neraxis didn’t detonate the grenade, as he merely held it in the hand that had already regenerated.
He’s faster and stronger than me. One good hit and I’m fucked, Neraxis thought, as he held the grenade in one hand and the sword in the other.
With that, he used {Sword Dash}, attempting to surprise the old man.
However, all it did was make the old man dash toward him instead, and using Neraxis’s own momentum, and stabbed straight through his chest.
It didn’t hit any vital organs, as Neraxis had already relocated them, but he could feel something swirling around inside his body now.
Poison…? Why can’t I expel it?
“Your body will melt from the inside out now, invader,” the old man remarked with a small smile.
Neraxis didn’t listen to the old man, as he used {Eve of Ruin: Mark of Destruction}, followed by {Stellar Dominion: Cosmic Cascade}.
He thought it might buy him enough time to attack. But he was wrong—the old man suddenly stepped backward, raised his katana, and stabbed into the air.
Immediately, Neraxis’s brows furrowed.
<Stellar Dominion: Skill Cancelled!>
Of fucking course, Neraxis scoffed, as his body was growing hotter.
Therefore, he dissolved the grenade and drank all the blood it let out until he no longer felt the heat.
As he thought he had dealt with it, the heat soon came back again.
[I can try to expel it, but you need to end this fight… If I do it right now, you might die,] Evangeline stated.
Got it… End the fight fast, huh? Neraxis thought.
His fighting style as Neraxis was a polar opposite to Eclipse, however, it seemed like against people who were stronger than him, it should do the job.
Neraxis leaned lower, and pulled out his trusty rapier to accompany his sword.
The old man was slightly confused at the sight and got into a defensive stance.
But that was perfect, as with the Eclipse style of fighting, he could break through defenses easily.
Even more so, when he only needed to land 5 hits to stun the opponent—it was an easy task.
Neraxis began slowly walking to the man, while at the same time, extending his {Domain} to envelop his body.
If he did that, then he could better react to attacks, and even his strikes would be deadlier.
The only reason he did that was simply because of the convenient ability he had found through his new vampire main skill.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
And that was teleportation.
He could teleport to any place where there was light.
Alright… I need to at least get a solid hit on this old man, Neraxis took one final deep breath as he teleported himself right beside the old man and slashed his sword sideways.
The old man neatly reacted by parrying the attack, but just as he was about to counterattack, Neraxis extended the rapier, nearly nicking the old man’s ear.
Nonetheless, since he missed, Neraxis teleported again—this time in front.
He performed {Expert Stab} combined with {Atomic Stab}, and in the next moment, a fierce black-and-gold line shot out, heading straight for the old man.
However, like before, he remained calm, and with a mere tilt of his katana, managed to send the strike outward.
But that wasn’t without consequences, as the main intent behind that attack was to damage the katana as cracks appeared.
The Decay and Frost soon spread along the cracks, and he knew he had succeeded.
That was why Neraxis teleported right behind the man—who attempted to end the fight in a single hit by focusing all his power into a single slash.
However, before the man could even react, an invisible rapier sliced his neck open.
It had come from above, despite the illusion making it seem like the strike came from below.
The Decay began spreading slowly, while also freezing his throat.
Neraxis let out a sigh as he twirled the rapier around.
The classic {Illusion Slash}, glad it works so well on humans.
Suddenly, the old man threw his katana down as he began dashing away.
But before he could get too far, Neraxis teleported right behind him, gripped his neck, and ripped it clean off.
The old man’s headless body fell to the ground, dyeing the ground red.
[Ohh… He was SS+ ranked, and judging how we weren’t able to feel him, he probably had some sort of weird skill,] Evangeline commented, amused. [Now sit down, I’ll fix you up.]
Neraxis glanced down at the old man one last time and stashed away his rapier before sitting down on a nearby rock.
So what now—
Before he could finish his words, he suddenly felt dizzy, and he couldn’t even control his body anymore as he leaned back, almost paralyzed.
However, the paralysis lasted no more than five seconds before he felt something coming up his throat.
Neraxis hunched over, then vomited out some green substance, which melted the ground upon touch.
[Done,] Evangeline said joyfully. [It was some murim-style poison. I remember I used to have a few people in the past who used to make that kind of poison, so I know how to dispel it.]
Neraxis tilted his head. What’s murim?
[An annoying place you probably will never go to. There are strong people there, sure, but they are all arrogant from what I heard,] Evangeline remarked. [Besides that, I think that’s it for this city.]
Yep… Neraxis nodded, as he approached one of the debris-filled stores and found a map.
On it, he saw three continents, and he could count around 30 major cities per continent—just like this one.
Therefore, he had a lot of work to do.
But as he glanced to the side, he noticed his Sun Kobolds still actively loitering around, chewing on the corpses.
I’m not going to each city one by one, that’s for sure, Neraxis concluded, as he extended his arm and controlled all the blood in the area.
Due to there being so much, he couldn’t feel a limit.
Soon…
<72,998x Blood Constructs Summoned! Type: Combat—Exploding Sun Raven>
A grin appeared on Neraxis’s face as he let out a chuckle.
I’ll have this done by the end of the week.
