Chapter 254: Grabbing Fast Food, And Nightshade?
“I’m not going to lie…” Evangeline muttered, waving her fork around. “This food sucks.”

Neraxis sighed. “I agree… For a restaurant with multiple honors, it sure serves piss-poor food. But maybe the next dish is better?”

“You’ve been saying that for the last hour.” Evangeline giggled. “I think I have a way to spice it up though.”

As she finished speaking, Evangeline suddenly leaned in and slashed her wrist. Immediately, blood flowed down onto his steak, covering it entirely.

Neraxis raised a brow and, without even wasting a moment, dug in.

To his surprise, it was actually delicious now, mainly due to Evangeline’s blood, but it really made him think.

My palate isn’t fucked, right? What if I can’t eat normal food?

“You should be able to. I definitely can,” Evangeline remarked. “Some food is just worse than others.”

“Well… Do you want to get out then?” Neraxis suggested. “Unless you want to finish the rest of the food? I can give you my blood too.”

Evangeline shook her head. “I appreciate that, but I think we really should just go. I saw a cool fast food place not too far away, and I remember a few interesting secret menu combinations.”

“You do…?” Neraxis tilted his head. “Since when? Did you go with someone?”

“Amara,” she replied. “We usually went there to grab a bite while you were out on assignments. As you might’ve already noticed, our cooking is not the best.”

“Right… While I was on missions? You didn’t get me anything?” Neraxis asked, looking hurt.

“Pfft…” Evangeline held back a laugh. “After you were back, I was your prize. But hey, you can’t say I didn’t make you any food, can you? Who cooked you all those delicious salads?”

“…You don’t cook salad.” Neraxis facepalmed, then stood up and extended his hand. “Anyways, are you ready to leave?”

“Yep…” Evangeline accepted his hand, and soon, they left.

On his way out, Neraxis paid for the food. Since even if his family owned this place, it would leave a bad taste in his mouth if he were to not even give a single tip.

Even if the food was bad, the people were nice. He noted, and finally approached a fast food joint.

Since he wasn’t a pushover, Neraxis proceeded to buy every single item on the menu twice, and then they finally left with all the food in their dimensional rings.

Of course, they took their own share, with Neraxis grabbing the chicken nuggets, and Evangeline taking all of the fries.

“You won’t even leave some for me?” Neraxis asked, sulking. “You know I like fries…”

“Fine, you can have some.” Evangeline giggled and put a fry in his mouth. “Can I try that too?”

Neraxis smiled and proceeded to place a chicken nugget in her mouth.

The two ate playfully while also leisurely walking God knows where.

However, after several minutes of this, it almost seemed like they got lost.

But that wasn’t the case. The wall in front of them wasn’t real. Instead, it belonged to the person who was watching them from above.

“I’d really appreciate it if you don’t interrupt our date,” Neraxis spoke. “Black hair, black eyes. Stupid mask, and you’re also short. I assume you’re the Top 2 on the leaderboard? Nightshade?”

This was the same leaderboard he had checked in one of his first days upon returning.

Nightshade was supposedly an SS rank. However, from what Neraxis could feel, the skinny man on top of the roof was much stronger than that.

I guess the government hid their true ranks… But aside from that, is this the first person to come collect the bounty on my head? Neraxis thought, amused.

Nightshade didn’t respond. Instead, he jumped down in front of them and pulled out a pair of axes.

“That’s not very subtle,” Neraxis remarked.

“He might be compensating for something…” Evangeline added with a giggle. “Should I just kill him?”

“Let’s just see what he wants? Maybe he’s here just to show off his weapons?” Neraxis replied innocently and glanced back at Nightshade. “Well? Are you?”

Instead of a response, what Neraxis got was an axe thrown straight toward his face.

But he didn’t panic, as with a single Sun Thread, he was able to stop the axe and, with a bit more force, even sever it into several thousand little pieces.

Safe to say, it was no longer usable.

Nightshade wore some tight black jumpsuit, so Neraxis couldn’t really make out his expression.

However, from the increased heartbeat, he knew that this little stunt of his came off a little intimidating.

Nonetheless, before Neraxis could make a move, Evangeline suddenly let go of his hand and charged up a slap before sending it toward Nightshade.

Because of the strength difference, Nightshade wasn’t even able to react and was sent hurtling toward the wall on the left of them.

Naturally, a slap of that magnitude did more than cave in the wall—it suddenly sent Nightshade crashing through the building beside it and even beyond.

In the meantime, each building Nightshade came into contact with collapsed, toppling over entire buildings onto the crowded streets.

Neraxis’s eyes widened, and he, alongside the flustered Evangeline, proceeded to use their Threads and move all the people away.

Even though they managed to save everyone, the buildings still collapsed and Neraxis could only imagine how costly the property damage would be.

“Whoops…” Evangeline muttered sheepishly. “I didn’t expect that guy to go flying like that. My bad.”

“Right… We should get out now,” Neraxis said with a sigh, and the two swiftly jogged out of the alleyway.

That was definitely not how he expected to meet one of the rankers of this planet.

However, it was a pretty eye-opening experience.

After all, if this guy, who was SSS ranked, was roaming around, then the Scarlet Rose, the number one ranker, should be even more special.

The two made a few cheeky turns here and there until, eventually, they arrived by the docks.

But of course, it seemed like they didn’t escape everybody.

Nightshade was several hundred meters away from them, his body bruised and bloodied.

However, as Neraxis looked closer at his body, he noticed something a little off.

Is that really a guy…?
