Chapter 258: Preparing To Sever The Connection
“Ha…” Evangeline chuckled. “I knew you seemed off.”
“Evangeline…” Neraxis muttered before turning to Rara. “So you’ve been in the future? Did you regress or something?”
“Hm? Nothing of the sort,” Rara replied, shaking her head. “The only thing I’ve done is fight on another world for a couple dozen years.”
“And how much is a couple dozen?” Neraxis asked.
Rara tilted her head, falling into thought. “I’d say 30 years sounds right. I arrived there as a kid, grew up, and heck, I almost got married.”
“M-Married!?” Lana shot up. “Rara, y-you didn’t—”
“Pfft…” Rara held back a chuckle. “Just kidding, I wasn’t anywhere close to getting married. All the men I met in that world died by my blade.”
“You’re a feisty one,” Evangeline remarked. “What do you say we wake you up and have a little spar?”
Rara looked her up and down before sighing. “Listen, as much as I’d like to say yes because my sister is here, I’d honestly prefer going back to that world. After all, I was literally fighting a dragon just now.”
“Is that really what you want?” Neraxis scoffed. “To live in a fantasy land while your sister is here fighting to keep you alive?”
He knew it was a bit messed up of him to say, but guilt-tripping was the greatest method to make someone look at the situation from a different perspective.
Sometimes.
“Don’t say that,” Lana said coldly, glaring at Neraxis. “If she wants to do it, then she can do it. I’m going to continue helping her even if she doesn’t want to be with me. After all, she’s still my little sister.”
Damn, and here I thought my guilt-tripping was good, Neraxis thought with a chuckle.
“Yep, it’s fine,” Evangeline added with a shrug. “We’ll just have to maintain your body while you’re out fighting dragons. Don’t worry, dear, we can take care of it. You’ll go to sleep in less than 10 seconds, so the next time we’ll see each other is when we’re both old~”
With each person that spoke, Rara’s expression crumpled, and with both Lana’s and Evangeline’s final words, she stared at everyone with a conflicted look.
“I see…” Rara muttered. “I was insensitive.”
“Yep.” Evangeline nodded. “You were acting like a brat just then, but at least now you know.”
Rara glanced at Evangeline with a frown. “I don’t like you.”
“Rara,” Lana reached out and held her cheek. “Do you want to stay with me?”
“…I don’t think I can leave that world,” Rara replied, looking down at the hospital sheets. “I can’t say I hadn’t tried getting out a couple of times. It’s almost like something is locking me down there.”
[Neraxis,] Evangeline called out inside his mind. [Do you think it’s that universe thingy? Similar to what had tried to lock me down?]
Neraxis thought for a moment before nodding. Seems likely… But this is a bit more of a hassle than I thought. How long can you keep her awake?
[If I give her more blood, then I can keep her here for up to an hour. But it’s going to put a heavy toll on her body—she might even die,] Evangeline replied. [You’re not planning on teleporting there, are you?]
He nodded. That’s exactly what I’m planning to do. I doubt turning her into my own would actually make her stay here—I need to sever the connection in whatever world she’s in.
But for that, he would obviously need to know how the world looked. Unlike with Evangeline, he couldn’t just look into Rara’s mind, so a problem naturally arose.
However, it didn’t hurt to turn her. Maybe then he would feel some sort of connection.
“Since Neraxis is overly silent, I’ll tell you this instead,” Evangeline spoke up. “He needs to turn you, and once he does, he can sever the link with that other world of yours. However, we need your full cooperation.”
Rara sighed, her gaze darting between the three of them. “Just… turn me already.”
“Great,” Neraxis said with a smile and walked toward her again before flicking a droplet of his blood into her mouth.

For all he knew, he had to refresh the effects—and thankfully, he did, since now…

Finally… as weird as it is, I guess consent is what was needed for the 25% turning, Neraxis thought, and immediately chose the top-most option.

He expected Rara to scream just like the others he had turned. However, even after several seconds turned to minutes, she hadn’t even let out a peep.
“You’re pretty resilient. I guess you’re used to pain, then?” Evangeline said. “Or maybe you’re a masochist?”
Rara scoffed. “Y-You wish I-I was a masochist, wouldn’t y-you?”
“I don’t know, would I?” Evangeline smirked, turning to Neraxis.
However, before she could even open her mouth, he quickly shook his head.
“Don’t even think about it.”
Nonetheless, it didn’t take long for the process to finish, and similarly to Lana, Rara’s features didn’t change—they were simply enhanced.

“Hm…” Rara looked around the place. “This is a bit interesting. I can also teleport under any sun? That’s a pretty cool ability.”
“Right, now be quiet for a sec,” Evangeline said and turned to Neraxis. “Try connecting with her.”
Neraxis tilted his head. “Maybe you should start off by telling me how?”
“Just think of connecting with her, I don’t know. That’s how I usually did it.” Evangeline shrugged.
With that, Neraxis decided to give in and imagine himself connecting with Rara’s mind. And to his surprise, after just a few moments, he appeared in a completely different place than the hospital room he was just in.
Instead, he stood in a clear, limitless land, shallow water rippling beneath his feet with each step.
To top it all off, in the distance, he saw a tall, muscular woman with dozens of scars scattered across her body.
Her eyes were blue, and despite her hair being incredibly messy, he could tell it was curly.
However, that woman soon turned to him with a glare.
“You’re not supposed to be here.”
