Chapter 264: Acquiring A Strong Subordinate
Immediately, the black-haired swordsman reached for his katana, and without giving Neraxis much time to react, swung it horizontally.
Neraxis attempted to negate the attack by somehow propelling his body backward, however, it seemed like the swordsman had managed to grip onto him firmly.
Therefore, the moment the sword hit, Neraxis was split in two along the abdomen.
However, he didn’t stay in two for long, as time began moving at a normal speed once again, and the moment it did, Evangeline finally stepped in.
She arrived in the blink of an eye, and with a full-power punch, decimated the swordsman’s jaw and sent him hurtling into the ground, skidding several dozen meters away from them.
“Hmm… I guess you were caught off guard?” Evangeline asked as she held two parts of his body together, making it easier to regenerate.
“…” Neraxis sighed. “My senses didn’t flare up in the slightest, and even with the time advantage, it didn’t seem to do much since I couldn’t back away far enough in just 3 seconds.”
“Mhm, well, he’s not the strongest at least. We can damage his body pretty easily,” Evangeline added and finally let go of Neraxis.
Within seconds, his body reconnected and healed itself. It was slower than usual due to the swordsman coating his sword in some kind of mana that seemed to reduce healing effectiveness.
Regardless, Neraxis stood up and glanced toward him.
And of course, the swordsman didn’t stay lying down as he lunged toward Neraxis.
Ariella flicked her finger and greatly slowed the swordsman down. Meanwhile, Evangeline lunged into the air and bit into her finger.
Immediately, she waved her arm in an arc, sprinkling blood everywhere. However, all that blood halted in mid-air, and the moment it did, she began controlling it.
The blood turned into sharp spears which continued multiplying until there were thousands of them.
And without even wasting a moment, Evangeline brought her hand down, sending every single one of those blood spears right at the swordsman.
The swordsman slowly attempted to raise his katana up to block the spears; however, due to the slowness effect, and the fact that Neraxis was swiftly approaching, he wasn’t able to.
Therefore, instead of focusing on the spears, the swordsman turned his attention to Neraxis.
But Neraxis didn’t even flinch as he ducked under the incoming katana, and then did something he hadn’t done in a while.
Instead of a sword, he transformed the Arksteel into a scythe.
It surprisingly turned white in color, mimicking his hair as the edge of the scythe gently wrapped around the swordsman’s waist.
Neraxis glanced into his eyes, and with a simple pull backward, the edge of the scythe cut the swordsman’s body in two,.
Neraxis still felt a little strange from using his former weapon, but oddly enough, it felt just as comfortable as the sword, if not even more.
But whether that was nostalgia or not, he wasn’t sure.
Nonetheless, he glanced back at the swordsman, who, surprisingly, began healing himself at a rapid pace.
However, before his healing could continue, Evangeline shot a blood spear through the swordsman’s sliced body, and then spread her blood all around him, effectively stopping the healing.
It wasn’t a difficult fight when all of them worked together; however, if Neraxis was by himself, then it would’ve been a real problem.
“Ariella, can you slow down everything but his mouth? I want to talk to him,” Neraxis asked, and with a curt nod, Ariella did just that.
“Now then…” Neraxis sat down next to the still smiling swordsman. “Who sent you? The Sovereigns?”
“Pfft… hahaha, the what?” the swordsman replied. “I’m from the Jade Pavillion, and believe it or not, the emperor wants your head.”
“…?” Neraxis tilted his head. “The Jade Emperor? Why doesn’t he come himself then?”

The swordsman scoffed. “Why would he bother with the likes of you when I’m plenty enough?”
“No, you aren’t,” Neraxis corrected. “The only thing you managed to do was nearly kill me, and now you’re nothing but a blood smoothie.”
The moment Neraxis finished those words, he froze as an ominous smile appeared on his face.
He leaned in toward the swordsman and broke his jaw. In the very next moment, Neraxis bit into his finger and poured a few droplets of blood down the swordsman’s throat.
“Kugh… what are you doing?” the swordsman asked in disgust.
However, Neraxis didn’t pay attention to that. Instead…
<How much power would you like to share?>
<Solarian Vampire: 10%>
<Lesser Solarian Vampire: 2%>
Pfft…
<Ding>
<Lesser Solarian Vampire: 2% has been chosen!>
<Notice: The ritual has commenced!>
“AAAAAAH!” The swordsman began screaming as his body twitched uncontrollably. Blood was spurting from his mouth, and he was noticeably growing paler.
Neraxis turned to Evangeline. “Let his heart pump some blood, otherwise he might not go through with the ritual.”
“You’re doing what now…?” Evangeline’s eyes widened. “You’re turning him into a vampire?”
He nodded. “You said I could kill anyone I want as long as I’m a progenitor. He seems like someone I wouldn’t be able to kill under normal circumstances, and for him to just bleed out here seems like a waste.”
“So you’re enslaving him,” Evangeline said with a sigh.
“That’s a pretty nasty word… I’m only making him my subordinate,” Neraxis replied with a shrug as he glanced at the twitching swordsman. “Isn’t that right? It’s better than dying.”
Obviously, the swordsman didn’t reply and instead, his twitching intensified. Eventually, Evangeline took out her blood spears. The moment she did, the swordsman’s complexion finally eased up.
At the same time, all the twitching stopped, followed by his body healing to nearly perfect condition.
And the moment it did, the familiar pop-up appeared in front of Neraxis.
<The Solarian Vampire Family>
<Progenitor: Neraxis Valen>
<Firstborn Solarian Vampire: Aurelia Solis>
<High Solarian Vampire: Lana Elarin, Rara Elarin>
<Lesser Solarian Vampire: Cade Yang>
It seemed like he had leisurely fallen asleep, so Neraxis could only let out a chuckle.
I guess that’s one way of acquiring a subordinate.
