The SSS Ranked Villain's Return - Chapter 276
Chapter 276: The Accident
<Zaria: Are you fucking serious? They want to kill me?>
Alice sighed and replied swiftly. <Alice: Yep… they’re jealous of you and Neraxis, so they want to eliminate you here and now. They’re apparently self conscious that you’re not going to defend them after you and Neraxis get closer since you will always put him first.>
After a moment of silence, Zaria sent another text back.
<Zaria: Well they aren’t fucking wrong… but killing? Shit… I need to put my clothes back on, wake up Neraxis, and get the fuck out of here then. Thank you Alice, I’ll buy you another chocolate fountain.>
Alice’s smile twitched. <Alice: Sure. Have fun. But remember, they can and probably will find you pretty soon, so until then, at least make sure you’re not vulnerable.>
<Zaria: Naturally. I’ve already set up some precautions if the situation had ever turned out this way. I’m just going to activate them now. See you later, Alice.>
With that, Alice put the phone down and leaned against the wall.
Whether this was the correct decision or not, she wasn’t sure.
When Lar asked her on her stance, Alice agreed, saying she’d help them kill Zaria.
But as a few hours went by, she regained clarity, and without wasting a second, contacted her friend, told her what was going to happen, and now, Alice merely leaned against the wall with a hollow look.
Why did I do that…? I wanted him too, Alice thought, a tear streaming down her cheeks.
She only realized she wanted something when it was no longer in her grasp.
However, Alice had to live with that choice now, and of course, she had to somehow steer Lar and the others away from Zaria.
She was obviously going to head toward the safe house she had built for all of them. But it would be a bit different since it had been quite a while since anyone had been there.
In turn, she likely made some modifications to the warehouse, and if she did, then all of them had to be real careful.
Nonetheless, just as Alice was thinking of going to sleep to wash away the pain she was feeling, her phone rang, revealing a message from none other than Asher.
<Asher: Hey, I know it must be hard for you. I’m always free to lend a shoulder, Alice. So, can I come over?>
<Would you like to delete this contact? Yes/No>
<Deletion Successful!>
What a creep… Alice thought, putting her phone on the desk and getting into bed.
Tomorrow would be a very long day, but for now, all she wanted to do was sleep.

She was suddenly awoken by her phone practically blowing up from the amount of notifications she was getting.
Therefore, Alice swiftly stood up, put on her gown, and checked her phone.
There were dozens of messages, some from Lar, a couple from Zaria, and even a single one from Neraxis.
Oh… this is the first time he’s messaged me without me messaging him first, Alice thought with a wide smile as she rocked her feet back and forth.
However, the moment she opened the message, she froze.
<Neraxis: Zaria is dead.>
Huh? Alice tilted her head.
Her heart practically sank down to her stomach, but she didn’t waste any time and proceeded to check Zaria’s messages.

There were 4 in total, and the more she read them, the more she could understand the situation.
<Zaria: Hey sleepyhead, I’ve arrived at the safe house. Someone booby trapped it though, just glad Neraxis knows how traps work.>
<Zaria: Alice, do you want to come over? I doubt you’d be sleeping because, y’know… message me back whenever.>
<Zaria: Those fuckers sent a hit squad on me and Neraxis. Government elites or something. I’m surprised Lar has those connections, but be right back, me and Neraxis are going to fuck them up.>
<Zaria: I got hurt a little… though it’s probably fine, I bet your phone is blowing up with texts so you’ll arrive soon and heal me, right? Maybe not, I guess. Those government bastards were going around talking about some weird ass project, though I wonder if.>
Is that where it ends? Alice tried scrolling down, but there were no more messages.
She’d been safe. Then the government attacked, which lead to some kind of injury. And finally, she either succumbed to that injury, or something else happened entirely.
Either way, whenever Alice tried sending texts to her, she was always met with the same pop ups.
<This contact is unreachable at the moment!>
God fucking damn it… Alice banged her fist on the bed, and then opened Lar’s messages.
<Lar: I’m sure you’re sleeping soundly. Don’t blame me for giving you a relaxing drink the morning before. We’re closing in on Zaria now, and we’ve already guessed you might’ve informed her, that’s why I brought back up.>
And then his last message.
<Lar: Congratulations, we’ve decided to spare her life. The government are taking her in for questioning and a few experiments. Though I have one favor and request from you. Have a talk with Neraxis, and use that creepy cursed skill of yours to alter his memories. Make him forget about Zaria, oh and, good morning.>
Alice couldn’t help but want to throw the phone into the wall, however, she held herself back and decided to defuse the situation before it got too much out of hand.
Her main skill had mutated a few months ago. In a way, she was no longer a healer, and could now influence memories of the people she came into contact with.
There was a cost like always, however, it was just a bit of her life force, nothing she truly cared about.
Alice held her phone with trembling hands, clicked on a particular contact, and sent a message.
<Alice: I’m sorry for your loss… can we meet up?>
She didn’t want to do it. But if she didn’t do it, then Neraxis would either kill himself, or kill all of them and only then kill himself.
Either way, after not receiving a response, she headed to the one place she knew he’d be.
After all, the one surefire thing she knew about him, was the fact that he dealt with grief in the place where he felt the loneliest.
His home.
