The SSS Ranked Villain's Return - Chapter 277
Chapter 277: Memory Override
It’s quiet… Alice thought, approaching the door and swinging it open.
It wasn’t locked either. He likely just ran in here after it all went down and simply sulked in silence.
But Alice couldn’t blame him. After all, she was partially at fault.
If she had knowingly purified the drugs Lar had given her, then she would’ve been able to make it out on time.
Heck, she might’ve been able to change the outcome of the entire situation.
But now, Zaria was taken by the people over at the government, and she was likely going to be dissected.
Nonetheless, Alice wanted to at the very least salvage Neraxis’s mentality.
Therefore, she strode through his house until finally, she arrived at his room.
Alice could hear faint breaths coming from inside, and without wasting even a moment, she opened the door.
Immediately, a furled-up Neraxis entered her sight.
He was using the bed sheets to cover himself, and only his white hair was slightly visible.
“Hey…” Alice muttered, sitting down beside him. “I heard what happened. I’m sorry…”
He didn’t reply, so she continued. “Truth be told, I got a few messages from her, but I was knocked out and I couldn’t reply… But it’s not really an excuse now, is it?”
That seemed to make him halt for a few moments as the sheets slowly parted, revealing Neraxis, whose eyes were slightly red from the sobbing.
“Alice…” Neraxis sniffled. “Zaria’s dead…”
“No she isn’t…” Alice replied with a sigh. “The government have her, but I wouldn’t keep my hopes up.”
“The government? That’s even worse than death,” Neraxis remarked, anger clear in his tone. “I didn’t see her die… But the blood puddle on the ground was definitely hers.”
“You can try saving her,” Alice said with a smile and slowly extended her hand, placing it on his shoulder.
Normally, he would’ve likely dodged it, as he didn’t like making physical contact with people. But today was different.
Nonetheless, now that she had contact with him, Alice used a certain skill.
<Memory Override activated!>

<Zaria Velora → Zed Velkor>
<Memory Catalyst Required!>
Catalyst…? Alice tilted her head.
<Memory Catalyst: The individual toward whom all the feelings of: Zaria Velora will be transferred to.>
So I’m basically stealing him from her? Alice thought with a frown.
However, since she realized he was slowly growing confused at the fact she still had her hand on his shoulder, Alice decided to go with the only available option at the current moment.
<Memory Catalyst Changed!>

<Lifespan: -15 years>
It didn’t take long, only a few seconds. However, she could already tell Neraxis was acting a little strangely.
He had a dazed look on his face, and he quickly swatted her hand away, then stumbled from the bed, falling to the floor.
“Neraxis…?” Alice muttered. “Are you okay?”
“Sorry…” Neraxis replied. Yet the moment he turned toward her, she saw tears streaming down his cheeks.
They fell uncontrollably, and Alice didn’t have the heart to point them out.
Instead, she leaned down and cupped his cheeks.
“Do you remember what we were talking about?”
Neraxis slowly nodded. “Zed was captured, and we were going to rescue him… though… are you sure you want to go, Zar—Alice?”
Her brows twitched at his near mix-up. “I said I’ll follow you wherever you go. However, maybe we should sit this one out? I mean, Lar and the others said they’re already on it.”
“Lar… right,” Neraxis muttered. “He tried to help Zed and me, but I was knocked out. After that…”
Neraxis suddenly put his hands over his forehead as a pained expression appeared on his face.
However, it soon went away, replaced by his previous dazed look.
All the while, Alice was staring at the situation with an equally pained look.
Suddenly, her phone rang, and when she opened it, she saw a single message.
<Lar: She didn’t make it. [Image Attachment]>
Alice knew what awaited her the moment she opened that attachment. However, she had no choice but to do it.
And the moment she did, she saw Zaria—or rather, what was left of her.
Her red hair had been completely torn out, exposing part of her skull and brain. Half of her face was burnt, and all her limbs were chopped off, replaced with bionic arms.
Zaria no longer looked like herself. She was just a corpse. And it was all because of Lar and the rest of the idiots in her party.
However, as she was stunned at the picture, she didn’t realize Neraxis had snapped out of it and managed to take a glance at the picture.
As soon as he did, he staggered backward, covering his mouth as he ran into the toilet.
Alice could hear him violently vomit, and she didn’t bother to go comfort him. After all, she was feeling just as terrible upon seeing that picture.
Therefore, she swiftly double-clicked and deleted it.
However, a surprising pop-up soon appeared, startling her.
<Memory Override is failing!>

<Would you like to heighten the effect of the Memory Catalyst?>
<Cost: 30 Years>
30 years… Alice’s eyes widened. But despite that, she couldn’t refuse, so she simply accepted.
Immediately, she felt like her body lost a good chunk of energy, and her stamina noticeably decreased.
She felt older—much, much older. And if she had to guess, she didn’t have many years left in her life.
Nonetheless, since she was able to alleviate Neraxis’s pain, it was all worth it.
Alice stood up, approached the bathroom, and picked up Neraxis, who had seemingly passed out.
She carried him back to bed and tucked him in.
Just as Alice thought she’d finally get a moment to herself, she received an unbelievable message from Lar.
<Lar: Tomorrow, 4 P.M. Glory Avenue. Savanna Rift. Need everyone there, rest up.>
