Chapter 357: Arriving In The Throne Room?
They came to one simple understanding, and that was that Jane might actually be the perfect person to deal with the Sovereign of Pride.
Sure, Neraxis felt as if his revenge was being taken from his grasp, but at the current moment, he wasn’t really that confident in beating him.
Maybe in his real body he’d stand a chance.
But neither he nor Evangeline at the moment would put up much of a fight.
She might… because her swordsmanship is top class… but still, Jane is a bit more special than the two of us.
At least that was the thought process he came up with.
But now, they had to get to the matter at hand.
The demons were huddled close, and because of that, Neraxis didn’t hesitate to dash through the halls and appear behind them.
They ranged from level 50 to 150, so he wasn’t worried in the slightest.
All it took was a single slash, and in the very next moment, the heads of all the demons present came flying off into the sky.
Since they weren’t actual demons, they were killed by that attack.
After all, they couldn’t regenerate without a demonic core.
But still, not getting any bit of experience wasn’t very nice.
He turned around and glanced at Jane, who was talking with Evangeline.
Ever since that little reveal of power earlier, they had begun to get along for some reason.
Neraxis left them to their own things, and in the meantime, he walked past the demon corpses and inspected the marble ground.
There weren’t any vibrations, which meant that there was also no portal nearby.
That was a neat trick he picked up back when he was still dealing with the rifts in the past.
If he focused on the fluctuations of mana and the earth, he could predict a rift’s appearance. The same went for existing portals as well.
It’s just a bit more complicated, I think… I haven’t done it in a while, Neraxis pondered with a sigh.
There wasn’t much left to do in this area, so he went ahead, and the two girls soon followed.
The halls were as vast and wide as earlier. Just this time, they had intricate red patterns scattered across the interior.
Even the ceiling was lower, and it seemed like it continued to get lower the further ahead they all went.
That was when Neraxis suddenly halted, taking a glance to the side.
He felt as if someone was watching him, but no matter how much he focused, he couldn’t pinpoint the location.
Jane yawned and stepped up, walking past him.
For a moment, he thought she was going to catch the one responsible for spying on them.
But instead…
“You’re walking a bit too slow for my taste. My mana is also nearly fully regenerated,” Jane said plainly, flashing him a mischievous grin.
“Aha…” Neraxis rolled his eyes. “Move along then, I want to check something out.”

She raised a brow. “Why? We’re nearly at the end of the temple where all the coffins are. Or do you want something else?”
“Someone’s watching us,” he replied. “I’m not too sure what it is though. It was just a lingering feeling.”
“I think that might’ve been Evangeline then,” Jane replied with a giggle. “I taught her a skill, so she’s probably checking you out right about now.”
His brows furrowed as he turned to Evangeline, who had a flushed face.
“What are you doing…?” Neraxis muttered.
“Huh? O-Oh… nothing much really…” Evangeline trailed off, whistling. “I-I just…”
She fell silent and looked down to the ground, her cheeks flushing further.
Neraxis sighed and turned back to Jane.
“What did you do?” he asked.
Jane shrugged. “I just gave her an idea on how to visualize certain events in her mind.”
Seeing that he didn’t understand a word she said, she continued. “If you infuse a certain part of your brain with mana, then you experience an interesting phenomenon… I’d tell you, but that’s definitely going to get you distracted. Plus… I don’t really want you imagining my naked bod—forget it.”
“Bruh…” Neraxis facepalmed. “You taught her some kind of naked mind illusion? You really are bored, aren’t you?”
She shrugged once again and picked up her pace.
Neraxis shot Evangeline another glance, and with that, followed after Jane.
The hallways were eerily silent. So much so that it was hard to believe they had encountered demons just a bit ago.
But if his assumption was right…
The demons are probably in that area where the coffins are… I’m sure of it, Neraxis thought. If not, then they aren’t even in the temple to begin with.
He put those thoughts aside as he finally arrived at another crossing. Just this time, one side was blocked by rubble, while the other side was squeaky clean.
So clean, in fact, that he couldn’t even see a hint of dust on the ground.
Because of that, Neraxis warily walked down that path.
Evangeline seemed to finally snap out of her weird delusion, so she approached beside him.
[My bad… I got a bit carried away,] she said sheepishly. [It’s a bit fun though, I’ll teach you when we’re done with this.]
I’m not really that interested…
[Come on… It’ll be fun. I promise,] Evangeline said, puppy-eyed. [And hey, if you enjoy it… then maybe we can—]
“We’re here,” Jane cut her off. “There’s a powerful being in front of us. My guess is that it’s the Sovereign of Pride. If not, then still be on guard.”
Neraxis nodded and brushed off the perverted Evangeline.
He unsheathed his sword and prepared his Blood Manipulation for anything that might occur.
In front of them was a strange throne room which seemed a bit out of place considering they were in a temple.
But as he looked at the ground, he realized there were fragments of a statue.
So it didn’t take him long to come to one simple conclusion.
The Sovereign of Pride broke down a statue and replaced it with a throne, huh? Touché.
