Chapter 106: Different hearts
“Father, listen to me! I’m the right one here, not Rose,” Jennifer said in a low voice.
She was about to hypnotize her father before using the posion on him, but Mr. Stewart shifted back as if sensing what Jennifer was about to do.
“Jennifer, you really are unbelievable.”
Mr. Stewart looked coldly at the posion in Jennifer’s hands.
He knew all of his daughter’s little secrets, but he just hadn’t taken any action because she was his daughter too. He was a fair person.
He wanted to clear up all the misunderstandings between them without anyone getting hurt. But Jennifer… right now, she had completely lost it.
Jennifer had been spoiled by Stella since she was little—from kindergarten through all of her school years and even in college.
She had grown too obsessed with things and was unwilling to let go. She didn’t believe that anything she owned could ever belong to someone else—just like when she ran away from her wedding with another man, only to suddenly come back and want the man she had left at the altar.
“Father, you really like Rose, huh? Don’t you like me?” Jennifer suddenly asked, looking at her father with a cold frown.
“I’m fair to you two,” Mr. Stewart said, looking at Jennifer with a gaze that was trying to figure her out…
Jennifer was sick. It wasn’t normal. To Stella, she might seem normal, but to him, Jennifer wasn’t normal. None of her actions had been normal.
“Dad, you only care about Rose! It has always been about Rose! You only care about her and not me!”
Mr. Stewart rubbed his forehead, letting out a deep sigh. He didn’t know what to say to her.
“Are you trying to make me repeat myself again?”
“I understand, Father. There’s no need for you to explain—I already understand the thoughts in your heart and your indifference toward me,” Jennifer said, and all the sarcasm in her voice could be sensed.
…
“Flowers for who?,” Rose mumbled, looking at the flowers on her doorstep.
She was about to leave for school with Tobi, only for her eyes to suddenly catch sight of the flowers below her doorstep.
Flowers… Who could have left her those? Rose wondered curiously, looking at them.
Hesitantly, she picked them up with curiosity.
“To the beautiful lady.”
Rose read the letter, her hands moving around the flowers, but she found no name.
Someone had sent her flowers anonymously. There was no name on them.
She didn’t find a sender.
Her heart was left to pause and think for a bit.
Who had sent them?
Could it be Rolan or Damien? She was confused, unsure of who it could be.
“Mummy, give me one!” Tobi beamed, giggling as he pointed at the flowers in her hand.
Rose instantly came out of her thoughts upon hearing her child’s words. She quickly picked a flower from the bouquet and gave it to him.
Tobi took a sniff, showing his small teeth in delight.

“Mummy, it was Darius who said he wanted to smell flowers,” Tobi said, explaining himself.
Rose nodded, understanding him. After that, she took a taxi, taking him to his school.
…
At the company, Rose held the flowers in her hand as she walked into the office.
“Boss, you got flowers! Who’s the lucky guy that gave you these?”
Rose paused in her steps, looking at the flowers in her hand that she had received from an unknown sender.
“These flowers… I received them from my child’s father,” Rose said with a sly smile.
Looking deeply at the flowers, the employees gasped, their expressions turning warm as they flushed at what she had said.
They thought it was so sweet.
“Get back to work! Why are you all gathering around me like bees?” Rose said, her tone playful yet carrying authority.
The employees quickly nodded, scattering back to their tasks with respect.
Sigh.
Rose walked to her office, sitting at her desk and placing the flowers in a vase.
She couldn’t help herself—she grabbed her phone and texted Damien.
Rose: Thank you for the flowers.
There was no hesitation in her typing speed as she sent the words.
…
“Child’s father…” Rolan muttered, staring at the screen. He could see Rose in her office as she got in, and how she was surrounded by most of her employees as she said that the flowers came from the father of her child.
His heart paused.
“Alfred, did you hear what she said?”
He couldn’t help but ask Alfred when he found himself doubting his own ears.
Alfred, standing like a statue, sighed and nodded. “Yes, I heard her right.” He, too, couldn’t believe his ears.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking, Alfred?” Rolan turned to him and asked.
Alfred raised his brow.
“You can’t be an idiot,” Rolan said, his heart mixed with emotions.
“She said that kid is my kid.”
He needed to find everything out. These past days, he had been too lazy, forgetting about the kid matter. He had just accepted him as Rose’s child. He didn’t hate the boy—only that he didn’t know who the real father was. As Rolan thought about it, his heart began racing.
Just then, one of the workers from the project site came to him and said,
“Boss, the items on the site are missing.”
“What do you mean, missing?” Rolan’s mood instantly darkened. He had signed off everything for the construction, and now, all of a sudden, something was missing? Someone had stolen from his site.
“Alfred, carry out an investigation,” he ordered.
Alfred nodded. Rolan stood, folding his arms, but then his mind calmed down as it drifted back to what Rose had said.
“My dear Rose… you really know how to play with my heart,” he muttered under his breath, inserting his hand into his pocket.
…
Damien sat on the yacht, watching as a new text came from Rose. A smile bloomed on his lips.
[Rose: Thank you for the flowers.]
What flowers?
His brows furrowed.
He hadn’t given her any flowers. So who had sent her flowers?
“What is it, brother?” Kelvin appeared, begging for his attention with his hands as he picked up a drink, lazily sipping with his necktie loose.
“It’s nothing,” Damien responded, shifting his gaze to the water, his voice a bit hoarse.
“Huh? I can tell you’re lying,” Kelvin chuckled. “Has a woman already broken your heart?”
Kelvin stared deeply at Damien, noticing how his gaze was already turning cold.
“Oh no, brother, I can’t be right, can I?”
Kelvin added, inserting himself even more into Damien’s space.
Damien’s grip tightened, and the iron railing squeaked. Kelvin heard the sound and immediately shut up, just watching Damien.
“Who sent her the flowers? I’ll find out,” Damien muttered, and Kelvin heard him clearly.
“Feelings…” Kelvin muttered to himself, rolling his eyes as he walked back into the yacht.
…
“Yes, ma’am. Your daughter will be enrolled as an actress in our company. We promise you the best,” Rose said, speaking to one of the female CEOs whose daughter wanted to be an actress. She was just finalizing the process with her.
“I’ll talk to you later,” Rose said before ending the call.
As the call ended, Rose pursed her lips, looking at her wristwatch.
What time was it?
Her fingers moved to her laptop to type something when—
Boom!
An explosion.
The impact sent her head crashing against the desk.
Rose gritted her teeth.
Her head hurt.
