Chapter 120: Attractive yet dark feelings
“All this time, she had been falling for him, yet she acted like a devoted wife, going after him even when she was asked to marry him in place of her sister.
Despite having no complaints, she remained in the marriage for many years, playing the role of a beautiful, obedient wife. However, he never gave her what she truly desired; he never cared for her.
Although she was always there to support him in every way, she couldn’t help him with business or financial matters because she wasn’t the strong, capable person he needed. Yet, she didn’t complain; she simply continued to be there for him.
In her past life, she had shown him love and devotion, but he ignored her due to his arrogance and misunderstanding. His heart belonged to Jennifer, and he treated her coldly.
Rose’s anger boiled over, and before she knew it, she had slapped Rolan. The pilot, who had just finished cleaning the plane, turned to see what the commotion was about.
Rolan’s eyes turned cold as he looked at Rose, but then they calmed. “Should I turn the other side so you can slap me again?” he asked. Rose gazed at him with deep bitterness, her feelings of hatred and resentment clear.
She was no longer the submissive wife she once was. She had suffered through a loveless marriage and died because of his neglect. Now, she was unwilling to let him easily win her back.
Rolan noticed a sudden change in Rose’s demeanor, her eyes turning cold and her expression transforming into one of hostility. He couldn’t help but wonder what had triggered this shift. His hand gently touched her face, and he asked, “What have I done to you?” His deep, hurt voice conveyed a sense of genuine concern. “Rose, don’t keep things from me. Whatever you feel I’ve done wrong, please tell me, and I’ll repent. I’m willing to change, even if I don’t know what I’ve done.”
Rose’s eyes darted away, unable to maintain eye contact. She was torn between revealing the truth about her past life, her rebirth, and his betrayal, and the fear that doing so might lead to unforeseen consequences. A part of her felt that her rebirth was a miracle, a secret that only she should know. “Everything’s okay, Rolan. I’m not offended or sad,” she said, forcing a smile and pulling her face away from his arms.
Rolan looked at her, feeling helpless. “You’re keeping secrets from me, Rose. I thought I knew you as an innocent person, but something’s changed. I still love you, just the way you are.” He added a lighthearted tone to his voice, trying to ease the tension.
Rose’s expression shifted, and she glared at him, muttering, “Crazy bastard.” Rolan’s heart swelled with happiness, thinking he had managed to bring a smile to her face, even if Rose herself wasn’t aware of it.
Rolan’s sudden plan to take Rose to Switzerland caught her off guard. “What do you plan to do with me in Switzerland?” she asked, feeling uneasy about being taken away without her consent.
“Rolan, I have my own life, and I can live it however I want. Just because I’m paralyzed right now doesn’t give you the right to decide for me. I’m a grown woman, capable of making my own decisions.”
Rose’s tone was cautious, disliking the aggressive way Rolan was treating her. She felt like he was kidnapping her, acting irrationally.
Although she found him attractive under normal circumstances, she couldn’t muster the same feeling now. In fact, she felt less attracted to him, the man she had been in love with in her past life.
Rolan chuckled at Rose’s words, sensing her attraction to him despite her denials. “You say it like that, but I know you find me attractive,” he said, reading her like a book. Rose was forced into silence, her emotions laid bare.
Undeterred, she decided to provoke him. “You’re not attractive, Rolan. I don’t find you attractive. Moreover, I think Damien is more attractive than you. He’s my true mate, and I’m more attracted to him than you.” Rolan’s expression faltered, his heart growing bitter at the mention of Damien.
As they engaged in a seemingly harmonious yet chaotic discussion, Rolan questioned Rose’s certainty about Damien being her mate.
“How sure are you that Damien is your mate? I think I’m your mate, the one meant to be with you. I’ve touched your body, treated your heat, and assisted you in your heat. You’ve been with me for many years, Rose. I’m your true mate. A stranger who just came into your life can’t be your mate.”
Rose laughed, her eyes gleaming with amusement. “You think you’re my mate, Rolan? Let me clarify something for you. When I was still a normal human, I was with you, but I was never your mate. We didn’t have a mate bond, and Damien became my mate after I awakened. I was just a normal human girl, not a werewolf. You and I might have a false mate bond, but that’s all it is.”
Rolan’s face fell, and Rose revealed in his reaction. She didn’t want to delve deeper into the matter, especially the possibility of him curing her heat.
All she knew was that she felt a strong connection with Damien, and the moon goddess had chosen him for her. There was no resisting or stopping it.
Rolan suggested a change in conversation, aiming to avoid topics that might lead to sadness or arguments. “Let’s not talk about stuff that’s going to get us sad or lead to an argument. We should work together and enjoy our time in Switzerland. Rose, I promise to make you happy, no matter the grudges you hold against me. Please let them go.”
Rose couldn’t read Rolan’s emotions or thoughts, finding him cryptic and unpredictable. “I don’t know what to say to you,”
she replied. “You’ve taken me illegally, kidnapping me. As soon as we step into the Switzerland airport, I’m going to report you to the police and the people here. You can do nothing about it.”
A triumphant glint appeared in Rose’s eyes, but Rolan chuckled, his expression neutral. “Oh, dear bunny, in case you don’t know the kind of power I have,” he said, his hand reaching forward to hold her chin. “I’m the alpha, I own a big company, and I don’t have small strength. Don’t you think I’ve prepared for everything?”
Rose’s expression turned cold, and she glared at Rolan, feeling outsmarted by his cunning and intelligence. He was a capable alpha, but his aggressive nature sometimes got the better of him. “I promise you’ll enjoy this rain,” Rolan said, seemingly trying to provoke her.
Rose’s anger boiled over, and she glared at him. Rolan chuckled, finding her beautiful with her glare still on her face.
