Chapter 136: cursed
The door creaked open. Rose jolted, her eyes snapping open as she surveyed the place.
Rolan caught her wrist, leading her inside.
“You should be in my protection,” he said, a cocky smile plastered on his face.
Rose didn’t even have time to react. She didn’t have time for him—not now. She was hurting, confused, staring at the strange place around them.
Who were they even meeting? And why the hell wasn’t Rolan telling her anything?
“You keep looking at the walls like they’re more handsome than me,” Rolan teased.
Rose frowned, shooting him a glare. Was he seriously joking right now? Couldn’t he see she was being dead serious?
“Shut up, Rolan. You’re making noise in my ear,” she snapped, her voice rising a bit. She wanted to yell, but she knew she was in someone else’s territory. She forced herself to stay quiet. She couldn’t let Rolan get under her skin.
“Ahh, you look so funny,” Rolan said, clicking his tongue like he was enjoying her discomfort.
If she had known this was a witch’s lair, would she still be acting so bold? No way. She would’ve been clinging to him in fear by now.
The thought made Rolan chuckle.
The place was dead quiet. As they took a few steps forward, Rose’s flat shoes made no noise on the floor.
Where were they even going? Where was Rolan taking her?
She looked around the dimly-lit space, the frown on her face deepening. Rolan was being all mysterious, and it was starting to piss her off.
“I don’t want to do this anymore. I want to go back,” Rose said, trying to pull away from him.
Rolan frowned but didn’t let go—his hand still holding hers tightly.
“Why? We’re here for your good. You can’t back down now,” he said firmly.
Rose took a deep breath. She had to get serious. She almost forgot—this concerned her. She needed to find out what really happened…
She nodded her head, silently promising not to cause any drama.
Rolan smirked, noticing how obedient she had suddenly become.
His grip on her hand tightened.
“See? You can behave. And yet, you’ve been giving me nothing but a damn headache.”
Creeeak!
The sound of a door opening made her jump. Rose didn’t know how that was possible—no one touched the door, no one was there…
She freaked out, clinging to Rolan so tightly she nearly ripped the buttons off his shirt.
“Well, you’re hurting me,” Rolan said, hating how much he was actually enjoying her holding onto him like her life depended on it.
Something stirred in his chest.
Even as he spoke, Rose didn’t let go.
Rolan sighed, prying her hands off like she had turned into an octopus.
“See? The owner of the place gave us permission to enter. She knew we were coming.”

“She knows?” Rose asked, her eyes wide.
“Yes,” Rolan said flatly, clearly tired of having to explain everything to her.
“Well, she’s something else. She knew we were coming? She probably has CCTV in this place or something.”
“No. She didn’t need any CCTV,” Rolan replied, breaking whatever theory Rose was building in her head.
Rose got frightened—not able to imagine the owner of the place knowing they were coming, even though Rolan hadn’t called them.
“Tsk. You’ll know soon enough,”
Rolan said, dragging Rose into the room even though she was clearly resisting.
“Rolan!!!”
—
Rose stood face-to-face in a room that looked like a wizard’s shop.
All kinds of stuff lay around—strange objects that screamed of someone who practiced magic.
Her heart beat faster with curiosity. Who is this person…?
“Welcome…”
“Ahhhhh!!!”
A voice boomed from all directions in the room. Rose screamed and grabbed onto Rolan.
“Girl, why are you so scared?” the voice said again.
Rose sighed. She could barely speak from fear. She was terrified, and yet they were asking why. It felt ridiculous.
“Ahhh!”
Rolan burst into laughter, seeing Rose’s reaction. She looked like a frightened squirrel.
“She’s just a sorceress, not a monster,” he teased her.
“Amora, you can come out,” Rolan called.
The mysterious voice laughed, and then the curtains split apart. A breathtaking woman stepped out.
She wore a long, elegant gown that hugged her curvy figure. She walked with grace and power.
“Ooooh…” Rose whispered, stunned by her beauty.
Was this really the person who scared me so badly?
“You still look scared of me, even after seeing my enchanting face, young one,” the woman laughed, pointing a staff at Rose.
Rose didn’t know why, but that staff sparked something dark—like hidden dread.
“Greetings, Amora,”
Rolan said with a respectful bow.
Amora laughed softly and accepted his greeting. Then, a glowing orb appeared in her hand. She turned to Rolan.
“So, tell me… What brings both of you here?”
“It’s about my wife,” Rolan said. “Something’s off with her. I want you to have a look.”
Amora raised her eyebrows.
“Ahh, I see,” she said, walking toward Rose, eyeing her from head to toe.
Rose instinctively stepped back.
She hadn’t even had time to curse Rolan for calling her his wife to this stranger.
“My dear… you’ve been cursed,” Amora said.
Rose frowned. Cursed? How is that even possible?
Rolan’s expression darkened. He leaned forward, asking,
“Can you explain? Who cursed her? Is it someone we know? Or… how did it happen?”
Amora closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them slowly.
“I see a woman. She’s ancient… and so is this girl.”
She pointed at Rose, who raised a brow in confusion.
Amora laughed again.
“The other ancient woman—she’s after you. She cursed you for a reason. She wanted you gone. That curse is sitting in your legs.”
She paused, her voice deepening.
“The bomb didn’t make you crippled. It was the curse that destroyed your ability to walk.”
Rose stood frozen, unable to process everything.
Someone is after me? The bomb wasn’t the reason she was crippled.
Rose took a deep breath, serious now, and asked,
“Amora… please, I know you know more. Please tell me—who is she? What is her main reason for being after me? I also want to know who caused the explosion in my office.”
“Your sister,” Amora said, laughing, looking at Rose with an expression that seemed to say, Don’t you already know?
Rose stayed silent, only glancing at Rolan standing next to her. He hadn’t said anything, but she was sure he had heard Amora clearly.
“Ah, Rolan, how did you know a witch?”
Rose asked randomly, trying to stop the sudden sadness creeping up on her.
Rolan smirked.
“It was when I was searching for an enemy. They gave me her name, and the witch was the one who helped me.”
“Witch!?”
Rose exclaimed, shocked. Rolan nodded.
